Based on talk with another anon, it feels like 'the secret war' ends up hanging over everyone's heads if acknowledged as opposed to writing it like four friends in their mid-20s rooming together... not that I'd mind the latter if it makes for a more fun story! But stress can be more of a libido-killer than a reason for the team deciding to release said stress...
