Oh, to be in Kanen's head at the moment. What he must think of his friend! ): And Connor's so scary, it's hard to blame him. It's like a Greek tragedy. You know what's going to happen, it all makes sense, and it makes you want to shake everyone anyways.

;_; /hugs moth!Charles/ and I love how Connor relates to him in their experiences. They have just lost so much. But what a shock it will be for him to wake up and see that the mysterious voice that sounds like his husband is husband... from an alternate world.

On a totally unrelated topic, couldn't help but read that Plans Gone Well one-shot (again, and again) and ran across this yummy piece of fan-art from Charles' dark fantasy.

Well now that the threat is over, Connor is going to become less scary and I'll be bringing Charles back into the story soon.

One-shot:: Loyalty 1/5

A/N: Finally, part 22 for the First Word series, and according to my outline there's only a few more parts to go. Wry! Anyway, here's my attempt at a fluffy filler. Once again, beware of my grammar/spelling mistakes. Maybe when this is all over, I'll post it somewhere and try to get a beta-reader.

Loyalty

It was a relief, to finally close his eyes and not relive those horrifying moments in his life. Instead, his sleep was dreamless and calm - because Noah would have certainly let him know if he cried or screamed and woke the whole camp up in the middle of the night. But strangely, Connor did not feel relieved by this change.

He wasn't certain what he felt right now.

His thirst for vengeance had been at last quenched. While he was satisfied in sending Church and his son from this world, avenging his lost child, and serving both his country and Order; there was just this gnawing void within him. He felt it once after killing Washington and living as a lone wolf on the frontier, but it had expanded significantly after this mission.

Was it because he had regretted how he parted ways with Kanen'tó:kon? His chest tightens painfully at how close they had bonded in those brief moments of their partnership, which always ended with them as enemies. Perhaps that was all they could be now.

The grim acceptance made the Omega Templar feel cold and numb all over...

Rather than the metal washtub of cool water he had fallen asleep in.

Although the hunter could hear the murmur of voices in the lodge that he had lad them to after leaving Church's camp, he was currently alone. Having been given privacy to finally clean himself up. The hunter had been covered in grime from his travels, sweat from the fighting, and blood from his kills.

So much blood...

Connor groggily raised a damp hand to his face, grimacing at the wrinkles upon his hands as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. He then gingerly climbed out of his chilled bath and proceeded to dry himself off with a dry towel. He quickly coated his skin with body oil to protect it from the harsh winter weather, before reaching for the folded bundle of clean clothes that sat upon a chair besides the heated stove.

They were toasty warm when he put them on, like sunbathing on a warm afternoon relaxing upon the grass, or held in the tender encompassing embrace of his Alpha after their love making. A sigh of content escaped his lips as he thought of Commander Charles Lee.

Of those large hands that held him so gently, and the way that those skilled fingers caressed him knowingly. Of those lips that whispered endearments and sweet kisses, while the hairs of a mustache tickled his skin. Of those lovely blue eyes that gazed at him with such adoration when they stood together on the day they had married...

The sound of a voice clearing quickly drew Connor from his reverie. It was then the Omega had realized that he had been stroking his wedding ring, the same on the same finger as his Templar one. The action did not of course go unnoticed by his visitor, and he blushed in embarrassment and quickly averted his gaze.

"I don't have to be a mind reader to know what you're thinking about," Noah spoke as a sly grin of amusement played across his charming face. "Or rather, who it is you are thinking about."

Heat continued to gather at his cheeks and the younger Omega continued to frown at the wall. "I have not seen my husband in quite some time... I miss him."

"I am sure you do." Noah's voice was no longer teasing but sympathetic, "and I am certain that the Commander would rather be home with you instead of leading his troops out in this weather."

Inwardly, Connor winced. How difficult it must have been for husband. To have no choice but to leave and fulfill his duties both to his country and Order, when his family had fallen apart. The hunter felt no regret for what he did to both Benjamin Church and his son. Especially when their aim was to emotionally cripple his husband and through him, the men and women who followed him onto the battlefield.

"I am not disheartened by the fact that Charles puts his duties first and foremost. It is one of the many things that I admire in him." Connor chuckled and shook his head. "To think I fell in love with an Alpha because he was just like my father."

"Oh, I don't know about that."

"Hmm?" Connor raised an inquisitive brow and finally faced his friend who gently pushed him to sit down in a chair.

"Your hair is going to be a complete mess of tangles if you don't brush it," the older Omega lightly scolded him before picking brush from the table.

He sat silently as Noah brushed through the tangles in his hair.

Such a simple and kind gesture, had taken him back to their youth. Before they were Templar hunter and spymaster. Before little Ratonhnhaké:ton became Connor Lee née Kenway and young Noah Blake a Binns. Back to a time that had been rather bleak, when they were both orphans living on the streets of Boston and struggling to survive. Back when loyalties were not so complicated as they were now... at least on Connor's part when it came to Kanen'tó:kon.

He lightly bit his lip, and attempted to shake his head when he thought of the Assassin, and winced at the sharp tugs against his scalp.

"Be still," Noah ordered. Once again reminding Connor of being little Ratonhnhaké:ton who struggled to sit still as the older boy tried to smooth out and braid his ratty unwashed hair.

"What did you mean before?" he asked while facing forward and tried to remain still.

"Ah... I meant that you probably fell in love with him from your first encounter."

Connor blinked as he remembered the dirty alley, digging through the rubbish bins, Spado who was just a little puppy being given a treat by a younger Charles Lee. His future husband had sneered at him in disgust, and had called him a savage. But.. Charles had shown more kindness than a lot of colonials had before, giving him coin to stave off his hunger instead of eating infested bread.

"I... I was only eight years old!" he exclaimed, followed by a hiss when he tried to look over his shoulder to glare accusingly at the smirking spymaster.

"Be still," Noah repeated patiently as if the incredulous wolf were another one of the orphans he cared for.

"And what does that matter? I don't know many eight-year olds, many people in fact, who went out of their way to repay a few coins." The older Omega then chuckled in fond recollection. "We all thought you had gone absolutely mad. When you used to climb on top of high places and sit there for hours, in the frigid cold, trying to find a single man in a city populated by over hundreds."

Looking back, Connor could admit now that he had been a little too obsessed in finding his one-time benefactor; also, not all of the orphans knew of his eagle vision.

"I only wanted to repay my debt," he explained, "we did not exactly get along from there, and I had no idea that he had been one of my suitors. He never seemed very interested in me then..."

"That's because you were completely obtuse to notice."

Connor frowned as continued to face forward. "How do you mean?"

"Around the time we had been inducted into the Order, even though you both argued and tried to avoid one another, it was obvious that he liked you. He trusted very few to care for his beloved dogs when he was abroad, even though he had man servants for such duties..."

He always did find it strange, but never really questioned why the former General had allowed him to care for Spado and others. He had no complaints, as he loved to play with the pups and enjoyed their company as much as their master.

"...Then there was William Johnson's funeral. Before, he was always at Master Kenway's side. But when you had been hurt facing the man who had most likely murdered Mister Johnson, he refused to leave you and ordered Doctor Davies tended to you right away."

"It is just a scratch."

"Oh and suddenly you are a doctor now?"

Connor smiled a little from the memory, especially at the quip he had made of Charles breaking his fall from the rooftops.

"Then of course the reception after the funeral... oh yes, I heard all about it from Thomas."

The said Templar had gotten quite drunk over the death of one of his oldest friends. He had spilled the fact that Haytham had already selected a husband for his son. Connor just had no idea who it had been all that time. Not even when Charles burst into the room that his bride-to-be was looking after an intoxicated Alpha.

"Is something wrong?"

Charles frowned, glaring at Thomas who was chuckling and trying to climb back into bed. "Nicholas and James told me that he was being a nuisance and I worried of what kind of damage he might be causing being left unattended."

The Omega blinked in confusion. "I was here."

The laughter coming from the bed grew harsher. Connor glanced back at his friend in confusion while the older Templar paid it no heed.

"You ought to be resting. I'll look after Thomas."

The exchange back then had been a strange one to him. Hickey had not been that drunk, and was teasing Charles as he always has about something. Now it made sense to the Omega who scoffed upon realization.

"I cannot believe Charles kept silent about it the entire time."

Well, up until Independence Hall and his encounter with George Washington.

"I think he was concerned that knowing about your engagement to him would scare you off," Noah surmised. "As you said before, you hadn't been on the best of relationships, and he wanted a chance to woo you."

Charles had done exactly that... When they had worked together liberating Boston from the Redcoats, and ending the slander against Lyle White there so that that the good doctor and his family could settle peacefully.

"He treated me as a full partner," Connor spoke long after Noah had finally finished tying his hair back. "He trusted me to carry our my duties while some of his subordinates sneered at my heritage and others against at the prospect of an Omega joining their ranks. Charles had refused to listen to any of them. He believed in me."

That comforting warmth filled him again, and the Omega smiled down and fondly stroked his wedding ring once more.

"He needs you now more than ever."

Connor quickly turned to look at his friend who wear a completely serious look upon his face.

"I was not to tell you this..." Noah began almost hesitantly. "I was supposed to convince you to go back home to Boston. But... I think you should know that the Commander is not doing well."

Amber-brown eyes widened at this and he reached out to clutch at the other's arms. "What has happened to husband?"

"He has been struggling to remain strong, to hold everything together. But the Redcoats are constantly trying to reclaim our cities. Our troops are in need of decent supplies and have had to make do on almost nothing thanks to men like Benjamin Church. There was a great fire that ravaged New York not too long ago, and we lost quite a lot of good supporters..."

Connor has heard this from Kanen'tó:kon. General Putnam, Samuel Adams and Paul Revere... they had all died, and the Assassin blamed his husband for it.

"He has fallen ill recently," the spymaster informed him. "Master Kenway is escorting Doctor Davies in secret to tend to him at Valley Forge."

Because after what happened with Church, his husband would most likely be paranoid of any doctors other than Mathew Davies and Lyle White.

Before he knew it, Connor was on his feet. He hurriedly put on his boots and grabbed his gear.

"Then that is where I must be as well."

Thank you, anon! It's one of my favorite quotes as well, the meaning is just so sad and so true.

One-shot:: Loyalty 2a/5

(Anonymous) 2013-10-27 01:21 am (UTC)(link)

The trip to Valley Forge was thankfully uneventful. No bandits, or Redcoats, or other dangerous predators from the wild had hindered their convoy. It was too good to be true, as Connor had planned for an ambush out of nowhere, and felt himself grow more and more uneasy that nothing had occurred.

It was until they finally reached their destination, did he actually relax and lower his guard. But not after a quick sweep around the camp with his second sight, to ensure that there were no dangerous threats were present. However, it was right after his brief search, did his eagle eyes lock onto a similar pair that belonged to Haytham Kenway.

His father's gazed singled him out, eyebrows arched as he was obviously surprised to see him at the head of the convoy. Connor supposed he would be. The Omega remembered that Noah had been given order to keep Charles' condition secret from him as well as convince Charles' wife to return home to Boston once his part had been played.

It suddenly made Connor upset with his father. Templar Grandmaster or not, Charles was his husband. He deserved to have known his husband's condition. The Omega and pledge himself, on their wedding day, to be with Charles during this time of illness.

Just as his beloved had been there for him, before their child died.

He then dismounted Aquila and allow Clipper to take her from him, as he approached the intimidating figure who was frowning over at Noah who kept at a safe distance away.

"Connor..."

"Father..."

"I am glad to see that you are well."

The young hunter stopped a foot away from his Alpha parent, before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a Templar ring.

"I am... but I cannot say the same for either Benjamin Church or his son."

Gray eyes widened slightly in surprise as a large hand takes the ring from his gloved one. Connor frowns darkly, as a dark realization occurs to him.

"You truly did not believe them to be out in the frontier, did you..." it was an accusation, not question, and his father's lip tightened in affirmation. "That meeting at the manor was just a ploy. You wanted me to leave on some wild goose chase out in the wilderness, hoping I would be myself again when you collected me after you executed Church yourself."

Those gray eyes glared for a moment, not at him, but over his shoulder towards a certain spymaster.

"Rest assured, Noah did not betray your trust," he added quickly with a scowl. Those piercing eyes settled back on him, and to their credit, looked guilty. "I am not so ignorant and naive as you may think, father."

The tall Alpha shook his head. "I never thought that of you, son, and I apologize for my deception. But know that it was not done out of cruelty, never that. I wanted you to heal and rise above this tragedy, and it looks like you have."

Connor wasn't so sure.

"Also, Benjamin had been operating out in the frontier for some time. But we were lead to believe the slippery little bastard had moved his base of operations to the city." The Grandmaster then frowned with displeasure and seemed he recalled an unpleasant event. "Thomas and I learned differently when we were ambushed in an old brewery in New York."

How ironic. That a false lead turned to be credible, and Connor succeeded in a mission that was not meant to exist. The hunter scoffed in amusement as his anger lessened.

A large hand reached out and placed itself upon his shoulder, and Connor turned to face his father once more, who hesitated before speaking.

"You've done well, son, and I am very proud of you."

Damn

Those last words of course dispelled whatever residual anger he had for his sire. He felt like a young teenager all over again, back when he was inducted into the Order. His father had acknowledged his strengths, and saw him fit to be one of them. Did Haytham Kenway still think that?

Connor lowered his gaze to the silver band that he wear on the same finger as his wedding ring. Hesitantly, he brushed a finger against the crimson cross before meeting those gray eyes once more.

"Was my return to the Order a deception as well?"

The Grandmaster shook his head, gently covering Connor's smaller hands with his own.

"You are a Templar," his father declared softly, "and I believe that together, we shall bring the Order to new heights."

Connor raised an eyebrow at that. Was he still going to be a hunter for the Order? Or did the manipulative Grandmaster have another role for him to play?

Whatever it was could wait... because right now, he needed to be with his husband.

A/N: Haytham is definitely not father of the year here.

I'm glad to see that Connor's finally returning to himself. He's lucky to have friends like Noah.

This section is very aptly named. Loyalty from Connor to his husband. Loyalty to Connor from his friends. It's almost hard to believe that this is only a very thinly kept sanity.

I am totally loving Noah's view of the events. How very like him! He's such a practical and lovable character!

Oh Haytham. He's such a...father. I can't blame him for what he did. Trying to help his son, even through deception...

//hugs Haytham//

But I'm glad Connor saw through it. His sharp mind is ever at work, and he's truly a very deadly and effective agent. The Churches should have realized how much shit they were in when they failed to kill him. Connor is truly someone very scary to have as an enemy.

But yay! Connor will be reunited with Charles, and then they're going to conceive little Haytham...

OMG YAY~

Definitely looking forward to the smut. I imagine Connor probably daydreams a lot while he's out of it. Maybe reliving some angsy smexy times when Charles would drop by and visit during the war?

Connor is pretty much Haytham's wildcard, and now the whole Order knows it and will make potential traitors think twice of double crossing. So currently writing the second reunion, going to try to be nice to Connor this time and he and Charles will be able to heal together.

Aww, I'm happy you like Noah. Connor is very close to his two Omega recruits, like brothers (and yeah will try to get some Clipper time in to eventually) - even if he wants to kick Noah from time to time.

One-shot:: Loyalty 2b/5

(Anonymous) 2013-10-29 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)

Charles' bodyguards immediately recognized him as he approached the house that was the Commander-in-Chief's headquarters within the encampment. They had been the same Alphas whom he had fought alongside with when they seized Boston. Connor remembers the familiar faces of the men he asked to disguise themselves as Redcoats when they used the Trojan Horse tactic to seize the last fort.

From the look of their uniforms, a few of them had actually been promoted. He still could not believe how much time has past since then. It felt like decades rather than a few years.

He meets with Doctor Matthew Davies on the way to Charles' bedroom. The older Templar, and Church's replacement within the Inner Circle, informs him briefly of his husband's condition. Fortunately, Charles was not gravely ill - thank the spirits for that. But the work and stress from his responsibilities, had taken its toll of him, and his husband was not as young as he was.

Before heading outside, the doctor gave him a meaningful look as he stated that his husband should avoid a lot of... strenuous activity until he fully recuperated. Connor tried, and ultimately failed, not to blush. Why, oh why couldn't his father have brought Doctor White?

Upon approaching the bedroom given to his Alpha, Connor decided not to knock, not wanting to chance waking Charles if his husband were asleep. Instead, he opened the door as quietly as possible, and slipped inside the dark bedroom without making a sound. After silently closing the door behind him, he turned to face that bed's only occupant... and froze.

He has never seen Charles bedridden before. The Alpha possessed a hardy, war-fitted, constitution. From what he had been told by the Inner Circle members of old, was that Charles had flourished under the Grandmaster's wing. In his younger years, and even back at Johnson's funeral, Charles was able to keep up with the Grandmaster in physical activities such as running and climbing.

His husband did not look so strong as lay unmoving upon the bed. The dark shadows beneath his eyes were the first thing on his sallow face that Connor noticed. His husband's waning appearance frightened him. Being so much older, the Omega knew he would eventually lose Charles to old age if anything; but he had hoped that it would be many decades before that happened.

They still had so much to do together!

They had to win this war against England... and end the one between the Order and the Brotherhood. They had to make the newly independent country and all her people thrive without the support of the Crown.
They had to expand their family, and raise their children together.

Children...

Connor reached up and rubbed at his eyes, his fingers came away wet with tears as he thought of the little Alpha son he had lost. Yes, he wanted to try again, but the Omega was scared of losing another child in such a way. He needed Charles to help him be stronger.

He needed Charles.

Swallowing hard, Connor quietly approached the bed and was careful not to make a sound as he approached. His eyes never left the Alpha's slumbering face, as he reached out with his fingers and lightly caressed a stubble-covered cheek

'I need to help him shave,' was the thought that came to Connor's mind...

Before a large hand clamped onto his wrist. Connor yelped in shock, and went completely rigid as he stared at the barrel of a pistol pointed at his face. Without blinking, his wide eyes looked past the pistol, and to the narrowed clouded blue gaze belonging to his husband.

"Ch... Charles?" he began carefully.

The Alpha blinked. Those azure eyes stared at him with uncertainty, as if questioning if Connor was really there. Then, they widened in realization... and the pistol, that thankfully had the safety on, clattered onto the floor.

"Connor?"

The said Omega nodded, though wincing at the hoarseness in that voice and how it cracked at the end of his name. The sound was so familiar and so foreign. His husband's voice had always been so clear, whether he was addressing a crowd of people, or whispering sweet nothings into Connor's ear whenever they were alone together.

"Is it really you?" Charles whispered as the grip on his wrist was gone. A trembling hand reached out to cup Connor's own cheek. Reaching up, he placed his own hand upon his husband's larger one.

"Yes," he answered back softly. "I am sorry that I am so late."

"But why are you here and not at home with...?"

...Their son. Or rather, the son Connor's delusional mind had conjured up. The Omega looked away - in shame - as he slowly shook his head.

"I realized that there is nothing for me there." He slowly met his Alpha's stunned and saddened gaze. " Nothing without you. So I came to be at your side, for as long as you will have me."

Charles' lips lifted into a small but tired smile, as he reverently stroked his wife's cheek.

"I would have it no other way."

Connor smiled softly in return. After a gentle tug at his arm, he quickly shrugged off his long coat, some of the out layers of clothes and boots, before climbing into bed with his husband. He lay on his side, with the Alpha's larger body spooned around his back, and one arm draped over his waist.

It wasn't long before he heard Charles' breathing become deep and even, while he stared at the shadow patterns the light from the flickering fire place cast upon the walls. Until finally, his eyes grew heavy as the events from the past few days caught up with him. The Omega yawned quietly, so not to awake his mate, before drawing the blankets up around the both of them.

It was the best night's sleep he has had in a very long time.

Connor woke with a contended smile as he felt lips press kisses against his neck, with arms holding him close to a warm body that lay behind him. It reminded him of their honeymoon. The newlywed couple had... indulge themselves in unrestrained pleasure for an entire week, to make up for the lengthy separation.

"What's so funny?" he heard his husband ask between kisses.

The Omega hadn't even realized he had laughed. "Oh, I was just remembering that time on our honeymoon when we were caught by Mister Edwards."

The Templar Thomas Edwards must have been Thomas Hickey's veritable twin; because even though they did not resemble one another side by side, they did so in spirit. Charles detested him. Though not as much as the other Inner Circle member. Hickey was unrepentant, somewhat crass, and always made sure to fixate his gaze on all or any part of Charles' Omega when Charles was looking.

He felt those lips frown against his skin. "I ought to have docked his pay."

"Come now, Charles. Mister Edwards was only doing his duty in patrolling the grounds. He had no idea we were out having a picnic on the lawns that day."

Connor could easily recall the delicious dinner that the chef had prepared for them to enjoy outside. However they both enjoyed feasting on each other more. He remembered Charles' ravenous mouth devouring his lips, smothering his moans. He remembered the slick and springy green grass that he had tangled his fingers in, as the Alpha thrust into him over and over again...

"...Kept staring, I wanted to gouge out his eyes," Charles was saying when Connor ceased day dreaming.

"Well, I imagine it was quite a sight. After the all, the only thing I was wearing at the time was you."

Charles groaned in recollection. "Indeed it was quite a sight... but one that was meant for my eyes only."

He shivered in delight as he heard his Alpha growl, before making a biting kiss of possession upon his throat. How he longed to crane his neck upwards and allow Charles more access. He wanted to turn and face his mate, and kiss him deeply until both their lips were swollen as they tear off each other's clothing...

Regretfully, Connor remembered what Doctor Davies had asked of him before seeing Charles. It took every shred of willpower he had to gently extract himself from this Alpha's embrace. The Commander reluctantly let him go and sat up in bed when Connor made to collect his discarded clothing from off the floor and began to dress.

"Connor?"

"You need rest, husband," the Omega responded as he hurriedly put on his boots. "Doctor Davies insisted that you refrain from any strenuous physical activities until you are well again."

Charles mumble something insulting of their colleague, and Connor hid his smile.

"I dislike abstinence as much as you do, Charles. But it is essential that you recover quickly as your troops will need their Commander-in-Chief to lead them once again."

He heard a derisive snort in response. "I fail to see how intimacy would impair my recovery."

"It is the good doctor's orders, and remember that my father brought him here to treat you."

There. That would silence any complaints from the Alpha. Charles' mentor would be severely displeased with him if he refused to listen to Davies' advice - after paying and escorting the man to Valley Forge - and managed to make his condition worse.

It was definite, that a severely displeased Haytham Kenway, was hazardous to anyone's health.

"Where are you going, wife?" Charles asked finally with displeasure laced in his voice.

"We were able to recover the supplies from Church..." Connor trailed off as he hurriedly put on the inky black long coat he had draped over a chair. "I came here along with the convoy. But another arrives later today, I need to ensure that the route..."

"What...Church?!" His Alpha interrupted whiling growling the treacherous doctor's name. "Master Kenway finally caught that viper?"

The hunter hesitated, realizing that their Grandmaster might have neglected to tell Charles of Connor's involvement. Well, with Haytham still at the camp, he would have no choice but to... and Connor was not going to stick around while Charles erupted.

"My father will tell you the details when he is able. For now, you need to focus on your recovery. That means resting, no exhausting yourself or skipping meals..."

"It is not my hunger for food that needs to be sated..." Charles muttered lowly to himself but the hunter had heard it clearly.

Connor turned around, not bothering to hide the mischievous grin on his face. It was probably not a wise move, but he could not help but bend down and kiss Charles fully on the lips. The Alpha stiffened completely and groaned, reaching up... but Connor easily slipped away before a hand could tug him back onto the bed.

"Patience is a virtue, Commander, and I promise that I will make the wait worth your while."

Charles glared at him half-heartedly, before he scoffed and looked away.

"Go, you succubus, before I change my mind."

A/N: Poor Charles, he thought he was going to have hot reunion!sex

Despite being married to Charles for some time now, it was still strange to be referred to as "Mister Lee" outside their home. It was even stranger still when he was addressed with the added rank of "Major General" as he could not help but look around to see if his husband was standing behind him. But no, it was him that the soldiers saluted and nods of recognition from generals as he passed by.

Was this farce Noah's doing again? Why? This situation was not like West Point, and there was no need to get the soldiers to follow him when there were other leaders of higher rank within the camp.

With his second sight activated, it did not take long to locate the spymaster who glowed gold as he stood beside a high ranking officer. Neither of them noticed him as he silently approached, his boots making no sound as he walked across the snow covered ground.

Both men seemed to be upset over something as they spoke rapidly in French, most likely to prevent eavesdroppers from learning the nature of their conversation. Connor was about to turn away and give them some privacy, possibly spend time with Clipper whom he made eye contact with, until something of interest caught his attention.

The French Alpha whom Noah had been talking to, uttered the word "Kanen." Connor was familiar with the shortened version of his childhood friend's name. Could this be the Marquis de Lafayette that was one of the Assassin's contacts within the Continental Army?

How curious....

"Excusez-moi de vous déranger."

Both men stopped talking to look at him. The Alpha seemed genuinely surprised, either by a the half-native's sudden appearance or his ability to speak French. Connor was willing to bet that it was a bit of both.

The spymaster remained unperturbed and smiled in amusement. "Quand on parle du loup..."

Connor frowned at him in annoyance, but Noah only chuckled as he half-turned to face the man who he had been speaking with before.

"Lafayette, I would like you to meet a very old friend of mine, Connor Lee."

Well, that confirmed his suspicions. But now Connor was even more curios as to what the other Templar had told this man of him. Hopefully, not too much.

"Je suis très heureux de faire votre connaissance," Connor spoke effortlessly as he held out his hand.

He smiled as the Marquis shook his hand enthusiastically as he continued to speak in French. "Très heureux! Truly it is a pleasure, our friend here has told me all of your exploits over the years."

"Has he now?" Connor mused while not breaking the pleasant look on his face. "I also understand that you know Kanen'tó:kon... ah Kanen as well?"

"Ah yes! A good friend indeed. Though, I am surprised that he had not return those stolen supplies himself. He seemed very eager to come to Valley Forge when last we spoke."

A dark thought suddenly occurred to the wolf. What if that was the reason Kanen'tó:kon was eager to get those supplies from Church was not just to help the Patriots, but to get access to the Commander-in-Chief? Charles was weak and bed-ridden, there was no way he would be able to put any kind of defense against a Master Assassin.

"He and I had worked together in tracking down the thieves," Connor informed him while hiding his displeasure of the deceased Templar doctor and his son. "But I believe all the traveling and fighting in this weather made him ill... "

Or rather it was Connor's utter lack of restraint in murdering Ben Church that had deeply unsettled the Assassin.

"Truly?" Lafayette looked concerned. "That is most unfortunate. I will need to pay him a visit at his Homestead when the weather is favorable."

"If you do not mind, I would like to accompany you when you make that trip."

Connor doubted his friend would try to meet with him again after their not-so-pleasant parting.

He heard Noah clear his throat, and from the corner of his eye, saw the other Templar's frown of disapproval.

"About those stolen supplies," Noah quickly changed the subject, his expression was serious and grim. "Our second convoy has been delayed. A messenger has informed me that our men have encountered some trouble along the road and are pinned down."

The Wolf frowned.

Trouble? Surely not the Brotherhood. Bandits possibly? Or Redcoats?

Church has been planning to transport the supplies over to his British brothers before they intervened. Was it possible that they had come sniffing around when they failed to hear back from him?

Seeing the knowing look Noah gave him, he merely nodded his head, and then called out to the sharpshooter who - no doubt was under the Grandmaster's order to - watch him like a hawk.

"Clipper..."

"Yes sir?"

Connor felt a little bad when Lafayette made a startled gasp upon the third Omega's spontaneous materialization.

"You and I are going hunting."

A/N: Sorry my French is non-existent but I believe Connor would be multilingual like Noah whose job is to collect intelligence from any and all sources.

"Quand on parle du loup" - "speak of the devil and he will appear." The translation literally means: "When you talk about the wolf, you see its tail"

Succubus indeed! Oh Connor, such a temptation. :) I don't know how Charles manages to resist you.

I love how playful and teasing Connor is here. It seems like being around Charles is helping him mend better than anything else. The two are so in love...

Your French is pretty good! :) And Lafayette! I adore that man. I had the biggest crush on him when I learned about him in history class. He seemed so interesting and glamorous...

Will he play a large part? Will he be Connor's friend as he was in canon? :)

Discovering Charles

Chapter 2

Driven by curiosity and new hope, Connor tried his best to awaken and add his own efforts to those of his allies. After all, they worked to save him. How could he simply lie in bed and leave everything to them? He owed it to them and himself to do his own part, to take claim in his own freedom.

And yet, despite everything, he found himself unable to fully rouse. His arms felt as if they were lead, his body may as well have been a plank of wood. And his fingers did not seem to exist, for all that he could feel them laid placidly on the sheets.

It was irritating to be deprived of all ability.

He, who had been as a squirrel and a wolf and a hawk, now unable to do something so simple as move his own fingers...

How vexing.

If he had control of his body, he would have wept in sheer frustration.

Instead, all he could do was lie there, trying to move, trying to take part in his own rescue.

All he could do was try...and dream.

The dreams were not his choice. He would rather spend all his effort in climbing out of this infernal bed he was perpetually trapped in.

Ah, what he would do to smell clean fresh air and the scent of pine again!

But such was beyond him and, fatigued by his efforts, his body often succumbed to the hypnotic world of his dreams.

Hypnotic and...disturbing.

Why he dreamed of such, Connor did not know. He hoped that he was not...that he had not been...

If he could, he would have shuddered. It was apparently not enough that his husband plagued him in waking. To have him follow him in his dreams was a torment that Connor did not think he deserved.

Last night was...was...

"I have need of my wife. And I would have you retire to your rooms."

Connor trembled inside at that voice. It was so similar in tone to that of his mysterious would-be savior, but the intent, the feel of it was completely different.

Cold and selfish. That was the difference.

"You do him no good--"

"--did I ask for your opinion?"

The door opened and closed. Two sets of footsteps walked away.

"You still do not wake, I see. It is no matter. As long as you wake for the birth, I do not mind. I would have a strong Alpha son from you, and I would have you continue to serve me as you do now."

His husband's face came to his view and lips soon joined to his.

"I do believe I like you like this. Pliable. Placid. Beautiful. But," teeth bit into the flesh of his lower lip, "I do miss how feisty you were. There was a delicious quality to the way you would fight against me, and your final submission was always sublime."

His husband was a vile man. And to feel his touch again so as Connor knew would soon happen...

Ah!

Being so unable to do anything, and yet being aware of what was being done to him. It was...it was...

"Still so tight. It is as if you were made for me. Made to take me inside of you. Made to--"

Strangle him. Claw his hands into talons and rip out those mocking gray-blue eyes that took such pleasure in his pain. Push away that heavy body that stole all the breath from his and brought him to unwilling--

"Oh! Sometimes I think I must be in heaven, rewarded for my loyal efforts to the Order. To be given Master Kenway's son as a wife and to have him be so very delectable--"

And Connor must be in this hell that the colonials loved to speak of and fear. To have this man in him, day after day, his stiff manhood thrusting into him and rubbing that spot that Connor hated with all his being...

"Will you give me many children, wife? This child in you will not be the only, no. I desire many from you, all with your remarkable eyes and with your alluring beauty. I desire to see you swell, time and time again, with my seed and know that it is I, not Washington, who has planted himself inside of you."

A hand went to his cock. Another hand pushed his legs further apart.

The next thrust was deep. Stars sparked from behind Connor's eyes.

"So...good. So...tight. So..."

No. Not again. He could not...he would not...

White spilled out of him. For a moment, Connor felt nothing but the rush of blood behind his eyes and heard nothing but the roar in his ears.

It was like his dream. It was like all the dreams that incessantly plagued him and would not let him rest.

Neither rest nor calm nor life would he have if his husband continued to visit him. If his husband continued as he had been doing.

And Connor feared to lose himself. He feared what he might become, trained to feel pleasure at this grotesque mockery of affection, trained to yearn for his husband's touch.

"Oh wife. Your friend and my acquaintance advise me to leave you be. But how can I? You are a siren, beckoning me always, and I cannot resist. I shall never leave you be."

A final kiss to his lips.

As Connor laid there to the sound of his husband dressing, feeling the Alpha's release slowly drip out of him, skin cool from the autumn chill in the air, he came to a decision.

He would wake. He would combine his efforts to those of his allies.

And he would find himself free of the man who would own him so.
