I love these two, they are the most adorable! Norris doesn't have much experience with women but Myriam is a more than willing teacher.

Seconding so hard for him to reconstruct Clay. :)

So.

Very, very close study of Connor's "boots" (you know, the thigh-highs) reveals that actually he has at the top of them suspenders up to his assassin-insignia belt, which really means that they're less boots, more stockings and stayups and a garterbelt.

I leave it up to anon to explore the potential of this fascinating revelation, my only request is that if you involve other people, please no incest and keep everything consensual. Crack is welcome, but if you can keep it not-crack that is also amazing.

The world kept on going, whether or not Shaun approved.

It didn't have the decency to be different. The only changes were that now instead of a massive global conspiracy, they were fighting a massive global conspiracy and a mad omniscient ancient alien woman. The same cave, the same low hum of alien machinery and tap of typing that only made the silence louder, only now there wasn't the echoed sound of Desmond climbing through the alcoves, and he couldn't stop himself from listening. The same columns with the silvery patterns that looked almost like circuitry, only now no one was going to yank him behind one to steal a kiss.

The space at the end of the cave was open now. The door was gone. Shaun didn't know if the room behind it was the same. He hadn't gone back.

There was too much to do. They all had to keep hunting through their networks and everything they could access of Abstergo's, trying to find some hint of what Juno was up to. She'd just disappeared, but she had to be somewhere. There were still too few of them and too much work, dozens of leads to follow and communications to decode, even when he wasn't losing time because some idiot was emailing him gibberish. The pressure of saving the world again should have been enough to make him stop thinking about how he'd really believed that after it was all over the biggest problem would be how to tell Bill.

Shaun didn't know how long his fingers brushed over the keys as he stared at the screen and saw everything he didn't want to face.

Like that none of their battles and their lives had ever meant anything more than the shuffle of a pawn on some alien's chessboard. That ongoing theme in 16's - no, Clay's - puzzles. But in real life there was no breaking the rules and moving off the board.

("We're going to have to sooner or later."

Desmond snorted. "What would he care?"

"You'd be surprised."

Slipping his hands under Shaun's shirt. "He barely cared I got kidnapped by Templars, why would he care I have a boyfriend?"

Ignoring the indefensibly soppy degree to which he liked the sound of that. "You'll see once I'm stabbed in the solar plexus. Always knew my last words would be 'I told you so.'")

It would never happen. They'd never get to settle down to their bizarre, mad version of a normal life. There would never be the celebration of a saved world or late nights talking or fights over stupid things. He'd never be Desmond's boyfriend, that smarmy British jackass, yeah I don't get it either. They'd never argue about choosing movies and he'd never bemoan Desmond's terrible taste or have him fall asleep halfway through and drool on his shoulder. He'd never get to see his features get old and kind, and laugh at the silly greying beard or admit that it actually didn't look half bad on him. There was so much in that vision of the future he'd never get to make fun of him for, like asking if a tenet of his religion would be that everyone had to get terrible tattoos as a teenager, or pointing out that founding one based on Desmond would mean listening to him, and that would be the first mistake.

And all it came down to was that he was gone and it wasn't fair.

What was on Shaun's screen was another email. He was on his way to the delete key when in the midst of the nonsense he saw words.

clay its not working

Shaun held very, very still.

The sound behind him was not footsteps, but a kind of static shimmer.

"Never mind. I guess it is."

Shaun turned around.

"Oh," he breathed. "Oh, you absolute unbelievable bastard."

"Hey," Desmond said, grinning as his image flickered into place. "Miss me?"

Ol' Ratohnhnhake:ton sure is an uptight guy. The recruits all appreciate a challenge. So they make a bet to see who can get him to...relax a little. By relax I mean sex. Winner is up to you.

Bonus points if Benjamin Franklin put them up to it.

It was just the right combination of sappy and painful (and bringing up Clay is guaranteed to make me adore something, the moving off the board reference was glorious) and THE CHURCH OF DESMOND TENETS and then he appeared at the end the perfect bastard. Ugh, let me love you. Let me.

BECAUSE I FORGOT TO MENTION WHO I WAS. I was too caught up in how exciting it was to have it filled.

I am so glad you liked it! I was kind of worried because you wanted angst but I can't help but try to make things into a happy ending. And I had to throw in Clay. You have no idea how mad I was when the mysterious emails were just stupid lame Juno and not him. But there's so much foreshadowing, he and Desmond both have to come back SOMEHOW. And Shaun has to complain about it.

What I mean to say is, thank you! :D

Thank you! You know he has to be sarcastic even in mourning, and the idea of a church of Desmondism is so easy to make fun of.

Oh my god, writer!anon you killed me there, especially at the "Clay its not working". I just squeed so bad when Desmond said "Never mind. I guess it is." aaaaah, now I want Desmond and Clay shenanigans.

No no it's okay! The amount of Shaun-missing-Desmond was perfect, and even with the happy ending there's still a concern in the back of my mind that the digitisation has changed Desmond, and everything will end in heartbreak for everyone.

(I'm actually upset that I can't get back to read Juno's emails now that I've finished the game. I missed Clay (and latched my heart to every minor mention of him), but I liked the poetry in hers. And the hatemail she sent to Shaun. Gotta replay the storyline and finish just before the end of Sequence 12 UGH.)

So, I found it pretty clear from Haytham's tone when he was chatting with Ben Franklin (that pimp) that Haytham wants children. Someone to carry on his line, or maybe he just wants to be a father? Whatever it is.

Can someone expand on that? Maybe something about how it feels to find out Connor is his son? Or the feeling that his only child will never follow his beliefs? Or some foolish desire to protect Connor from the harshness of the world, seeing as he's so naive, and how illogical that desire is.

I just want Haytham's thoughts on all of this.

Somehow, between Brotherhood and AC3, Shaun started being nice to Desmond. Not even just civil- he still snarks and swears and picks on him- but *nice*. That email about his dad? Joking around and telling him to be careful and lecturing without being completely offensive? That's Shaun being sweet.

So what changed?

This would be a very interesting story...
