Re: La Piccola Signorina [7b/???]

"I think you should take your dress off."

Vieri looks up, startled. "Che cazzo hai detto?"

"Rosa, per favore don't curse so much. It would be so much easier for me to sew, so please..."

"I don't want to!"

"We are both women. Is there something you don't want me to see, Rosa?" Maria asks. Vieri doesn't answer. But Maria already seems to be getting an idea. She looks skeptically at the bodice, then up at his face. "Anyway dear, I didn't think you were so...flat. Why is that?"

"Uh...I was-I was born that way. It has always been like this."

Maria is unimpressed. Vieri curses himself. Idiota!

"Well, I will get the needle and thread then, but stay here. It will be harder to fix this with you still in it."

She takes a hell of a lot longer than she should, and when Maria comes back, Vieri is nervous. In her arms is a basket of assorted stuff that Vieri thinks is the sewing supplies. He is unprepared for the trick that she pulls on him from curiosity about what he is trying to hide.

"Oops!" Maria cries, -conveniently- stumbling over her dress. The sewing equipment flies everywhere. As for Maria, she falls into Vieri's arms, grabbing the top and yanking on it hard.

The entire dress tears to the waist like the crap that it is, and Vieri swears that the Auditore matron is smirking as she looks up and discovers 'Rosa's secret.

"Oh."

Vieri crosses his hands over his chest, flushing scarlet and scowling. Fucking Auditores.

"If-...if you tell...-anyone-..." It's an empty threat. He knows positively well that he can't do much of anything right now, which frustrates him.

"No, no I will not breathe a word. But you-you are not a woman, are you? What is your real name, child?"

"No!" Vieri says, childishly.

"Hrm. I wonder if Federico would like to-"

"If you do that-I'll...I'll..."

"Oh, I was only joking. Federico looks at you like a puppy, I do not want to crush his fantasy. But as for you...I should probably get you some new clothing. Oh, and some makeup. Maybe a hair ornament?" She continues murmuring to herself about what she will dress him in, and Vieri is briefly tempted to grab the needle and stab her. It wouldn't be a good idea, not with Federico still inside.

"Child, I will make you a deal. I will not tell anyone about you, but-" she holds up a hand as Vieri begins to protest, "I want to be able to find you something better to wear, something prettier and more suited for you." He has no choice but to accept, a sickening feeling in his stomach. Maria smiles, like a predator about to catch her prey.

"Va bene." she says.
