Sitting on Malik's bed, Altair shot an innocent glance at said Malik, as if vaguely offended by his ex-fellow Assassin's anger. "What exactly did I do that I shouldn't?"
Malik shook his head, sighing, amazed that he could still be so forward. "You sneaked in my room. Through the window".
"I've done that before and you never complained".
"Yes, well, you could at least let me know before coming in, don't you think so? I didn't even know you were in town".
An enthusiastic, utterly irritating smile bloomed on Altair's face. "I thought you'd like the surprise".
Malik muttered something that for sure was not a compliment. He had to force himself not to go and slap Altair on his face. "This still doesn't mean you can break into my room, and eat my dinner".
Altair shrugged. "Well, I found all that food on the table, and no one around, so I thought-"
"Whatever you thought, it was wrong". Malik cast him a fierce look. "And you're still sitting on my bed".
Altair's smile widened even more. Malik felt a strong desire to punch him on his nose. Maybe that way he wouldn't feel like smiling anymore. "Do you want me to stand up?"
"Yes, Altair. I want you to stand up and take your sorry ass out of my room right now. Go or I'll kick you out myself".
Slowly, very slowly, Altair stood up and walked across the room, until he was right in front of him. His smile was so wide, bright, attractive...unbearable.
"I thought you'd be happy to see me, Malik," he said.
Malik punched him in the face.
Altair stepped back at once. "Are you crazy?" he snarled, staring at Malik, halfway between astonishment and anger. "You almost broke my nose!"
"I'd warned you," Malik replied. "Will you go away now?"
Altair's punch was quick, but not unexpected. Malik managed to raise his hand to stop it just in time, grabbing his wrist.
"Just because you've always been Al Mualim's favourite it doesn't mean I can't kick your ass," he hissed, pulling Altair closer for a moment before letting him go. "Now I won't tell you again. Get. Out. Of. Here".
Altair smiled again. Now it looked almost threatening.
"No".
Malik was usually a very patient man. It took a whole lot of patience to deal with someone like Altair, and Malik usually managed to endure it without freaking out, even if he was cheeky, forward and arrogant. This time, he really didn't know what it was that made him snap. Perhaps Altair's grin, or his stubborness in refusing to listen, or just his presence in his room when Malik's only wish was to eat his dinner and go to sleep. But for sure a few moments later they were both on Malik's bed, trying to strangle each other, or to pluck each other's eyes, or something like that.
"You never knew how to take a joke, Malik," Altair gasped, trying to break free from the Dai's hand that was at the moment clenched on his neck. Eventually he managed to push Malik back, making him fall on his back on the mattress.
"You fool," Malik growled, pulling himself up and smashing his knee into Altair's stomach, making his eyes water with pain. Altair, however, didn't make a sound. "When will you grow up and behave like a man?"
"I'm a man already," Altair said. He suddenly pushed Malik back, and he managed to trap him with his back to the wall, hands resting on the Dai's shoulders. "See something you like?" he whispered, getting even closer to him, his breath warm on Malik's lips.
"Only your ugly face," Malik sharply said.
Now Altair's smile was definitely predatory. "I knew you liked me," he said. And he kissed Malik on his mouth.
Malik gasped, fighting against Altair's tongue that tried to break into his mouth. His heart was pounding in his chest, and Altair didn't seem willing to let him go. Malik parted his lips for a moment before suddenly biting on Altair's lower lip.
That was enough. Altair released him, stepping away with a hiss of pain. Malik's bite had been fierce, and when Altair ran a finger on his lip he realized it was bleeding.
"You bit me," he exclaimed, astonished.
"You kissed me, you moron," Malik said, trying to sound angry and pitiless. But in fact, even if he'd never admit that, Altair's puzzled face made him feel a lot like laughing.
