Kadar frowned, his interest lessening. "And that's... Upsetting?" He asked, tilting his head to the side.
"No," Malik replied, flicking a glare up at his only sibling. "He wants to take me for a ride on Friday."
The interest suddenly returned. "You said yes, didn't you?" Kadar asked, excitement written all over his features.
Malik mumbled something and stabbed at his green beans. "I did," he sighed, when his brother prompted him again.
"So, what's the big deal? It's not like it's a date or anything," Kadar said, the interest, once again dwindling.
That made Malik pause and tense. Something that didn't miss Kadar's attention at all. His smirk returned and that same spark brightening in his eye.
"What?" He said slowly, leaning over his plate to try and catch his brother's gaze. "Did he call it a date?"
Malik's mouth tightened to a thin line and he looked furious. Slowly, almost robotically, he nodded.
Kadar cheered and threw his arms up. "That's great, Mal!" He asked. Although, his happiness faltered when Malik's expression didn't lighten. "Oh come on, lighten up," he sighed. "It's not so bad being gay you know."
That made Malik's head jerk up. "I'm not a gay!" He snapped. "I love women. I love boobs and curves and long hair. There is no way I'm attracted to Altair, that, that... Ass!" He glowered at his younger brother.
Kadar only giggled at him. "Yea, yea. Whatever." He stood up. Taking his plate to the counter he set to work packing the food away. "I'm telling you, there's nothing wrong with liking men. You know I do."
"Yea, so?"
"So, admit it, Malik," Kadar replied, sounding suddenly very grave. "You might be attracted to Altair Ibn-La'Ahad, the hottest guy in this school; next to the Auditore family, of course." Kadar paused as he thought on his own statement. "Not that I can blame you, he is pretty sexy. Especially how jizz-worthy his ass looks when he wears those running pants of his. Damn Track star." Kadar shook his head as he placed his plate in the sink.
Malik remained silent as his brother spoke.
"You know, being attracted to Altair doesn't mean you'll be gay the rest of your life."
"Doesn't it though?" Malik asked, looking, for once in his life, unsure about something.
Kadar shook his head wisely. "Of course not. You can still like women. Not that I can see any of the girls at our school dating you. Save for maybe that Crane girl."
Malik wrinkled his nose slightly. "No, she's too, well, weird for me." That earned him a laugh and his expression lightened just a little bit.
"Bro, from a newly formed gay to an in-the-closet, I'm telling you, there is nothing wrong with it. And you can still dig chicks from time to time." Kadar was smiling widely. He was playing matchmaker and he adored it. "Have fun on Friday. If you have to, take some of Dad's whiskey to make things easier."
"Easier? Make what easier?" Malik questioned, standing up himself and placing his empty plate into the sink.
"I know you. You'll be worried about this all week and when Friday finally rolls around you'll be so tense that one touch will send you shattering to the ground."
Malik had to admit this was very true.
"So, take some alcohol and don't worry about it." Kadar clapped his older brother's shoulder. "You have my blessing."
