It was great!! And you're right, fever was definitely something to be concerned about. It still is, in fact, because fever after a wound like that likely means infection. Of course, we have all sorts of ways to treat that nowadays, but it's still quite dangerous.
Infection leads to septic shock which is a freaky for the responding EMTs because the person's heart rate jumps up at the same time that their blood pressure plummets and you start an IV to try to get their blood pressure back up but it DOES NOT WORK.
