Ezio Auditore died during the siege of Monteriggioni. Cesare Borgia strengthens his army and begins to conquer not only Rome, but all of Italy. The assassins do not forge the Brotherhood, and as such their defenses and tactics are failing. Leonardo is contracted to work for the Borgia army and his machines are not destroyed.

Enter the Gods. Minerva can't have Ezio die without continuing the bloodline, so she uses all of her Godly Magicalness to bring Ezio back from the dead. But, he is not the same as before. Physically younger, and mentally shattered, Ezio has to start all over, putting his broken pieces back together with the guidance of his companions who he doesn't remember right away, and his ancestors and fallen family members who help him every step of the way.

Bonus points for anything hurt/comfort, and while this anon is a Leo/Ezio fan, any pairing is welcome.
