F-first ever request... It's kind of obvious from this prompt what I've been reading too much of in another fandom...

So. WWII AU.
Leonardo is an old friend of the Auditores, the famous Florentine banking family, and has a soft spot for the middle son (like, duh). Unfortunately, the Fascists find out the Auditores are working against them, and Giovanni, Federico and Petruccio are arrested, tortured and shot. Ezio manages to get away with Maria and Claudia, thanks to Leonardo, and he becomes a true blue Partigiano, and Leonardo a double agent for the Brits (Excuse for Shaun? What excuse for Shaun?)...
I need this. I have idea why. It just seemed like the most awesome AU ever when I first thought of it... Feel free to fit all the other characters in any way possible (with the Usual Pairings...)...

Although, this one's probably trivia, but is this Leonardo meant to be named after "the historical Leonardo da Vinci" in-universe, or does the latter not exist in this AU?

P.S. If you think this is crazy, I actually had an idea for Petruccio having a dream where he sees 21st-century versions of the Auditores, INCLUDING Maria and Claudia (through the eyes of his able-bodied 21st-century counterpart who is aware of the Assassins), performing THE MOST AWESOME LEAP OF FAITH EVER: youtube . com / watch?v=JKhDHY4UWBw (at 1 minute in, set to 1080p for max effect)

Renaissance!Leonardo did exist. WWII Leonardo IS named after him, and everyone praises him as the second coming. He is a genius like his namesake, which is why he's prized by the regime, especially in engineering. With his skills, Italy could actually fight a battle or two without the Germans having to rush in and help them.

As you wish. ;) Anons are anon for a reason unless they de-anon, intentionally or otherwise... although from what I understand, de-anons are allowed to delete their comments? (I'd actually consider de-anoning for certain comments so as to set up PM correspondences, then deleting the comments and reposting them anonymously.)

Excellent idea re: "the two Leonardos"! Although unless you've affected Italy's standing a LOT, I don't see him having been able to help much even had he been committed to the fascisti (did I get that right?). After all, one man can only do so much... and as the wars of the 20th century evolved, that became even less.

P.S. Re: the above "crackfic" idea: Petruccio has no more understanding of what's going on than right before the arrest/execution, so the sight of 21st-century versions of the family all doing a HALO jump and addressing him as if he were full-fledged... now imagine that he then asks his dad about a dream he had...

I just didn't think anyone was interested. XD; I have no problem with other people knowing what I read in other fandoms, nothing to do with de-anoning. :)

I don't know. Italy might have been able to get themselves out of a few tight spots had they had better equipment, but not even death rays can make up for a natural unwillingness to fight and lack of decent training. But certainly Leonardo would have been someone both sides wanted.
Yes, it's fascisti, singular fascista. Or dickhead. It's synonymous.
