Re: FILL part 1/?
(Anonymous) 2011-12-02 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)For the purpose of writing this, it is AU.
“What! No, don’t touch that!”
Shaun dived past Desmond and slapped the glowing Piece of Eden away from his outstretched hand. It had been too easy to kill the Templars, like they had wanted them to steal the Piece of Eden.
The rectangle clattered to the floor, deactivating. Shaun hit the floor, writhing, his jaw locking up, his knees drawn up to his chest.
“Shaun!” Lucy came around the corner, having taken cover from the fire fight. She darted out, grabbing the glasses-wearing historian, prying his mouth open to force her tattered shirt into his orifice.
“It’s going to be okay, just keep breathing. Rebecca!”
The technician appeared, before swearing and running over to the enemy hummer.
Desmond just stood there. Well, he was panting, having killed the team sent after them, but he stared around cluelessly at the seizing Shaun and Rebecca, who seemed to be pulling out a laptop.
His eyes landed on an opened case, with locks and a chain on the handle. There was a rectangular shaped dent in the middle. He scanned the area with his eagle vision one last time, and then headed over to it.
Scooping up the case, he crossed back over to pick up the Piece of Eden and set it in. Since he didn’t drop to the floor writhing, and it wasn’t glowing, he decided that it was off. Using his hidden blade, he broke the locks off the metal frame and looped the chain around it instead to keep it closed.
“I’ve downloaded the information onto a CD! Let’s go!” Rebecca called. “Yes, I made sure it was clean first!” she added.
Desmond walked over to Lucy, offering to trade the Piece of Eden for carrying Shaun. Lucy shook her head.
“It’s too late…he’s….”
Shaun’s clothes were deflated on the floor.
Desmond dropped to his knees, patting the clothes. This could not be happening. The snarky limey was not dead, he was not allowed to be dead, he did not make Lucy cry…
“Mew! Mew! Mew!”
Lucy sneezed.
.......
Like I said, a few days. Since the beginning wouldn't be changed too much, I kept it as is. Now, to write out the ending, edit, and post might take a few days...

(Anonymous) 2011-12-04 06:32 am (UTC)(link)(In this case, did the Assassins and Templars "meet" around a POE, or did the Templars try to use a POE to kill them? What a terrible idea, Abstergo...)

(Anonymous) 2011-12-05 02:49 am (UTC)(link)(few more days until I can post the fic in one go with a coherent plot line which is what I dropped by to say. If nothing else, you should have it by Friday/Saturday)

Re: FILL part 2/?
(Anonymous) 2011-12-05 03:19 am (UTC)(link)Lucy held onto the suitcase, while Desmond handled a very active, curious, orange and black furred male kitten. Shaun voiced loud mews at his new surrounding, sometimes even yowling at them. If seeing Shaun as a kitten was weird, Desmond wondered what seeing them as giants must be like.
“Is he hungry or something?” Desmond griped, tossing Shaun’s clothes into the back seat and sliding in. Rebecca pointed to a crate on the floor of the truck cabin and Desmond lined it with Shaun’s clothes, before dropping Shaun in.
Lucy sneezed up front.
“Okay, the computer virus and the general wipe down are done. Let’s get out of here before a second wave hits.” She ordered.
Rebecca twisted the handle of her screw driver, listening to the hijacked car purr to life.
“Okay, we got wheels. Baby is on-board, and we are gone. You think Shaun is trying to tell us something?”
“Maybe there’s some historical research he didn’t want to entirely redo once your virus finished eating everything. But we have got to go. We need to protect Desmond and the Animus.”
Shaun gave one more mew and then settled down.
….
Rebecca drove like a crazy woman. Desmond was certain that at any time they would plow off the road and into a field somewhere, but Rebecca just whooped and turned the wheel faster.
“Just like computers can’t love us, they can’t teach us all about driving! Could you imagine some machine taking turns at this speed!”
Lucy groaned and snuck a look at the speedometer. She groaned again and clutched the suitcase.
Desmond made sure that Shaun was okay, not getting slung around in his box. Baleful eyes glared up at him.
“Hey, he’s got glasses…shaped…markings….I didn’t grab his glasses. I grabbed his clothes, but not his glasses. Shit.” Desmond realized.
Lucy sighed. “It’s okay, Des, I got them.” She waved the glasses before tucking them back in her shirt collar.
A noise had Rebecca applying the brakes. “Is that the engine?”
“No. I think that’s Shaun.” Desmond looked into the crate, wondering how a kitten could purr so loud.
“I think he can still understand us.”
Re: FILL part 2/? OP response
(Anonymous) 2011-12-07 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)Loving what you've posted so far, the idea of Shaun being an orange and black tabby a la Garfield is just too cute for words, and how he's still just as vocal and intelligent as a cat as he was a human is a very creative twist to my prompt that I am quite happily surprised about.
I am more than happy to wait until your schedule isn't so hectic for a masterpiece like this. Take your time, I'd rather wait for months for a good story to be written than to have such a good beginning to be spoiled by rushed work.
