Fill: When the Autumn Moon is Bright - Part Three [2/4]

(Anonymous) 2012-07-25 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
The change had gone without incident, manacles in place, with his wolf instincts taking over his mind and sending him into darkness as usual. But after a time, something changed. His consciousness swam back to awareness, muddled and sluggish. He found himself crouching in the corner of the cellar, manacles twisted but still holding, sniffing the air as a familiar presence approached. So Ezio had arrived.

The Assassin approached cautiously, keeping in mind Leonardo’s warning, but he needn’t have worried. Leonardo found himself wagging his tail in happiness and straining to get closer as his friend approached. He even let out a little yip in greeting, causing Ezio to smile warmly.

“Hello, Leonardo,” Ezio waved. “How are you feeling?”

Unable to answer, Leonardo only strained closer. Ezio closed the distance between them, scratching Leonardo behind the ears, causing the werewolf to practically collapse with joy.

But suddenly Ezio was stepping away, headed for the walls behind him. “Now why don’t we see to those chains, eh?”

Leonardo’s ears perked up. He tried to feel alarm as Ezio snatched the keys from their hook and reached for the first manacle on his ankle, but his wolf instincts overrode his concern with the desire to be free. He found himself stilling, whining quietly at the back of his throat as Ezio systematically unlocked each of the manacles.

Once he was fully free, Leonardo landed on all fours and shook himself off, tongue lolling out of his mouth. “Coming?” Ezio called out from the doorway of the cellar, watching him with some amusement. Barking happily, Leonardo followed, tail still wagging.

He wasn’t sure for what reason Ezio had freed him, but the Assassin didn’t waste time with explanations. Instead the moment they were once again outside, he started bounding up the side of the nearest building, gesturing that Leonardo should follow. The wolf did without hesitation, digging claws into the same handholds that Ezio used. They climbed to the roof almost as one. The moment they reached the top, Ezio glanced over, and with a secretive smirk, he started racing off across the rooftops.

Leonardo’s chase instinct flared up, and he howled his joy to the moon, giving chase. The two figures flew across the rooftops of Venezia, the smaller one fleeing from the larger, Ezio ducking and swerving like an acrobat to stay ahead. There seemed to be no set destination, Ezio doubling back often enough that Leonardo would probably have gotten lost if not for his sense of smell, just the enjoyment of the chase.

Eventually though, Ezio seemed to tire of the constant running, and throwing a challenging grin over his shoulder, he gracefully dove off of the edge of the roof. Leonardo skidded to a stop, leaning over just in time to see Ezio hit the pile of hay below. He popped out a second later, covered in hay but laughing like a loon, stumbling out onto the street.

Leonardo didn’t bother aiming for the hay. He merely pounced, landing just in front of Ezio’s path so that the other man bounced hard off of his flank, falling to the street with a yelp of surprised. Feeling smug at finally catching Ezio, Leonardo leaned down and pinned him gently to the ground with one massive paw on his chest. Ezio struggled weakly for a moment, having difficulty breathing past his laughter, and then surrendered, still laughing.

Leonardo watched as he slowly calmed down, until he was quietly staring up at the sky with a smile on his face. “My brother Frederico and I used to do something like that,” he admitted into the silence of the night. Leonardo blinked at the unexpected comment. He hadn’t know that.

“Shortly after I started becoming an Assassin, I would find myself running across rooftops, to get away from guards, to sneak into buildings, for other reasons. And I always pictured him running alongside me. Urging me to be faster. Just like he used to.”

Leonardo’s ears drooped, and he started to move his paw away, but Ezio grabbed it, keeping it pressed to his chest. “I still miss my father and my brothers. I always will. But it hurts...less now. So thank you, Leonardo, for coming with me. I’ve missed just chasing and being chased.”

They lapsed into silence again, but it was a peaceful silence. Eventually Ezio pushed Leonardo’s paw away and rose to his feet. Glancing at the wolf out of the corner of his eye, the smirk returned to his lips. “Race you back to the workshop?” he suggested playfully.

But before Leonardo could even think to respond, the night’s stillness was broken by an ear piercing scream. Snarling in pain and flattening his ears against his head, Leonardo followed Ezio’s line of sight to spot a woman standing in the open doorway of a nearby home, holding a chamber pot, and staring right at him with a look of outright terror.

“Monster! Demon!” she shrieked, throwing the chamber pot at them. It didn’t make it halfway across the street, but the sound of shattering pottery woke a few of the neighbours. Lights came on and windows were flung open as people looked outside to see what all the commotion was about. Suddenly the night was filled with screams as more and more people caught sight of him.

Shrinking down in pain from all the noise, Leonardo began to look frantically about for an escape from the growing chaos, but everywhere he looked more people appeared, pointing and shouting. In the distance he could hear soldiers coming to investigate the commotion.

“Leonardo, this way!” Ezio’s voice broke through the chaos, catching Leonardo’s attention. He looked up to see Ezio hopping over a low wall into a courtyard between streets. Eager to escape the scene, Leonardo rushed after him, leaping over the wall and ducking into the shadows. There Ezio was waiting for him.

“Follow me,” he whispered, and then he darted out into the street beyond, keeping close to the shadows and moving quickly. Leonardo could never manage to be so stealthy with his bulky form, but Ezio seemed to compensate for that, leading them down the darkest and emptiest streets he could find, using every bit of his experience escaping from the scenes of his assassinations to get them as far away from the people as possible.

For a while they thought they might have escaped, but just as they were stopping to catch their breath they were stumbled upon by a regular patrol. The alarm was shouted, and once again Ezio and Leonardo were forced to run, though Leonardo was sure Ezio could stop at any time. He was rather unnoticeable next to Leonardo’s monstrous form. But Ezio stayed with him, leading the way, even though he must have been exhausted by then. He stayed.

They found shelter near the shipyard, ducking into an abandoned storehouse. Ezio found a corner for them to hide in, full of straw that closely matched Leonardo’s fur colour. They curled up together, Leonardo listening with perked up ears as the patrols of soldiers thundered past their hiding place, shouting and hollering. They waited until the guards were long gone before Ezio climbed out of the hay and crept to the door to check if the coast was clear.

He came back wearing a worried frown. “The guards are gone for now,” he reported, “but we’re across the city from your workshop now, and dawn is not that far away.”

Leonardo jolted as he realized that it was true. The sky was much lighter now than it had been when they’d been running over the rooftops.

“I do not believe we will be able to get you back to your workshop in time. And now that so many people have seen you, the guards will know that they are searching for a werewolf. If they spot you in the morning with no clothing, even they are not stupid enough to miss what that implies. Cazzo!” he swore loudly, kicking at a stone on the ground. He began pacing furiously. “This is all my fault.”

Leonardo whined softly, inching forward to bump his head against Ezio’s shoulder, stopping the man in his tracks. Ezio remained rigid and furious for a moment more, and then all at once slumped.

“I suppose there’s no helping it now. Better to come up with a plan than berate myself, is that what you’re saying?”

Leonardo licked his face.

Chuckling, Ezio scratched Leonardo’s head. Slowly a thoughtful expression settled on his features.

“Hmmmm, perhaps if we...” He jerked his head up and grinned as an idea came to him. “Yes! Of course! That will be perfetto!”

Leonardo tilted his head and whined in confusion.

“Don’t worry, my friend,” Ezio exclaimed excitedly, “you have nothing to fear. I will take care of everything! Just follow my lead.”

Ezio led them back out into the streets. He was less careful about avoiding patrols, this time obviously heading for a destination. Leonardo kept sniffing the air, trying to keep track of when they would be discovered, and signalling Ezio with a rumbling growl or a snarl in the correct direction. Then whenever they were stumbled upon, Ezio dispatched of the guards almost before Leonardo caught sight of them. Thankfully they were only discovered twice on their journey, so they weren’t delayed too much. Even still, the sky was almost fully lit by the time Ezio announced they had arrived.

They were standing behind a familiar bordello. Leonardo’s nose was swiftly filled with the scents of sex and sweat, and he wondered how he hadn’t noticed before. Wrinkling his snout in disgust, he was about to glare at Ezio in confusion when the sun pierced the horizon and he felt the changes come over him.

He was barely able to remain silent as he returned to human form, the pain lesser than when he became a wolf, but still great. Ezio watched with a worried expression, but did not approach until Leonardo was fully human, for which he was grateful. Only then did Ezio remove his cape to drape it over Leonardo’s shoulders.

“Ezio, why are we here?” he asked the moment he was sure he could speak. His voice was scratchy, his throat dry and sore.

“It is a brothel,” Ezio explained quickly. “It is not unusual for a man to be found naked here. Go inside and ask Sister Teodora for some clothing, I’m sure the girls have collected a few forgotten pieces over time. And if any guards see you wearing unfitting clothes, as long as they spot you leaving the brothel or smell the courtesans on you, they will make their assumptions.”

Leonardo fought back a blush. “You want me to go inside? Wearing nothing but this?” he gestured to the cape.

“Yes. And you must hurry, otherwise another patrol will come by and see you sneak in. There will be talk, of course,” Ezio looked at him regretfully, “but better the people assume you visited a brothel just once than they suspect the truth.”

Realizing the wisdom of Ezio’s plan, Leonardo could only sigh, shifting the cape to wrap it around his waist. He thought he might have caught Ezio staring at him as he moved to cover himself more completely, but when he looked up Ezio was glancing down the streets on either side looking for guards.

“Go now,” he instructed softly, stepping aside.

“What about you?” Leonardo asked, suddenly concerned with Ezio’s part of this plan.

“I’ll be drawing their attention as far from here as I can,” Ezio explained. The longer I can keep them occupied, the less likely you’ll be seen, and the safer you’ll be.”

Although Leonardo wanted to baulk at the implication that he needed protection, he had to admit that Ezio’s plan was sound. Besides, while Leonardo could now take care of himself in a fight, it was his reputation they were both more concerned about at the moment.

“Go!” Ezio ordered again, this time reinforcing it with a light shove towards the door, and then he was gone, dashing across the street and down an alley, disappearing like a ghost. Leonardo hesitated only a moment more, gathering his courage and fighting down his embarrassment, and then he stepped forward to knock on the door.

All things considered, Leonardo probably would have preferred getting caught by the guards.

Sister Teodora had been more than willing to help him, even if he couldn’t really explain anything, once he introduced himself. She clapped with delight, a bright smile on her face.

“So you are the great Leonardo da Vinci!” Teodora greeted him. “Ezio has told us much about you!”

He wasn’t sure why, but the way she had said that made him feel very nervous all of the sudden. He glanced around the lobby of the brothel, but everything his eyes landed on only made him feel more nervous. The courtesans were circling like vultures, giggling to each other as they took in his undressed state.

“Look at him, he’s so pretty!” one girl cried out to her friends.

“Mmmmm, he looks tasty,” another commented.

“I’ll take good care of you, Messere.”

“No way, I saw him first!”

“Did not!”

“Did too!”

“Girls!” Teodora shouted, and the courtesans settled, though they still whispered softly to each other.

“My apologies, Ser Leonardo,” Teodora offered as she turned back to him. “The girls are just a little excited. It’s not every day we have such a handsome guest in our home.”

“Unless Ser Ezio is visiting!” one of the girls pointed out, and the rest burst into giggles. Teodora to her credit only rolled her eyes, ignoring them but for the tiny smile the graced her face. She gestured to one of the nearby girls to approach.

“Fiora, go get our esteemed guest something more suitable to wear,” Teodora instructed.

“Do I have to?” Fiora asked teasingly, but she quickly scurried off to do as she was told. Soon enough Leonardo was dressed again, albeit in mismatched and very poorly fitting clothing. The courtesans had gathered around him by this point, tugging at his tunic and wrapping Ezio’s cape over his shoulder, trying to make him look at least slightly more presentable. Eventually though they had to give it up as a lost cause, dispersing back to their rooms and couches around the brothel.

Eager to finally escape the brothel, Leonardo sought out Teodora to thank her for her hospitality. When he tried to promise her a reward, she brushed him off.

“You are very dear to Ezio, and he is very dear to us. Therefore, there is only one thing I desire from you.”

“Yes?” Leonardo asked, though he wondered if he would regret asking.

“Kiss him. Fuck him. Tell him you love him. Write him poetry. I don’t care, just do something so he is not always moping around here, moaning to my girls about you. He is breaking my heart.”

“He – I – we – WHAT?!” Leonardo choked, eyes bugging out.

Teodora narrowed her eyes at him and huffed. “Tell me you are not this blind. I thought you were an artist! Isn’t it your job to use your eyes?”

“You – you think Ezio – ” Leonardo could not even bring himself to say it.

Teodora, clearly fed up, had to restrain herself from burying her face in her hands. “Lately he speaks of nothing but you. He worries constantly over you. He is constantly asking us to keep an eye out for you. You occupy his thoughts at all times. But for some reason, he seems to think that you do not want him, so he will do nothing! He will not make his move. Therefore, you must.”

“I...why would he...I...I think I need to sit down,” Leonardo decided suddenly, the realization that his feelings were not so one-sided as he’d thought acting as quite a shock on his system. Teodora blinked at him in surprise, but she quickly guided him over to a plush couch and sat him down.

“But I thought he favored women!” Leonardo stared up at her in bewilderment.

“He does favor them,” Teodora explained patiently. “But that does not mean he does not care for men as well. Ezio has always been very free with his attentions. Have you not noticed this?”

“No, I never did,” Leonardo said slowly, though as he considered it, he had to admit that Ezio had been rather affectionate to everyone he met, flirting freely with both men and women. Leonardo had always just assumed it was a joke. He’d never thought it was serious. “But why did he never say anything? He knew about my...inclinations, so he should have known that I would not mind!”

“As I understand it, he did try to tell you, recently in fact,” she said, tone gentle as she watched him puzzling through all of the new information. “But when he brought up the subject with you...”

“I responded with self-hatred, telling him that my feelings were sinful,” Leonardo finished for her, finally understanding what Ezio had been trying to tell him the other night. “He must have assumed that I would react similarly if he revealed his own appetites, that I would...hate him.”

“But?” Teodora prompted him, secretive smile firmly in place.

“But...I could never hate Ezio. He is the most important thing in the world to me, more than my paintings or my inventions. I love him,” Leonardo stated dully, despite this being the first time he had ever admitted these things out loud. He winced as the usual guilt and self-hatred flared up. “Augh, but these thoughts! They are unnatural!”

“Leonardo da Vinci, you listen to me now!” Teodora shouted at him, causing him to jump. “You love Ezio, correct?” He hastily nodded. “And he loves you! That is all there is to it! There is nothing wrong with the way you are feeling! Love is love, and it is beautiful whether it is between a man and a woman, a man and a man, or two women. You have nothing to be ashamed of.”

Leonardo stared at her in blank shock. He had never heard such sentiment before, and he found to his embarrassment that he was on the verge of crying slightly. “You really believe so?”

“Many of my girls are equally happy to fall into the arms of another woman as a man’s. Many men come here as a discrete place to find other men. I do not care either way, and neither should you. So long as everyone is happy, that is all that matters.”

“I...see. Thank you, Sister Teodora, you’ve given me much to think about,” he spoke quietly after a long moment of contemplation, sincerity thick in his voice. She patted him on the hand and gave him an encouraging hug.

He stayed only a bit longer, enough for a glass of wine and another hug, and then he was sent on his way. He stumbled back home, not even registering the streets and people he passed, deep in thought. When he finally arrived, he realized that he had no idea if Ezio’s plan had actually worked. He couldn’t remember encountering any guards on his path.

He quickly changed out of his borrowed outfit and into something more suitable, then returned to his workshop where he sat at his table and stared down at Ezio’s cape. His mind was a whirl with thoughts and emotions, each warring for his attention. He considered Sister Teodora’s words carefully, but one piece of advice from a courtesan, no matter how friendly, was not enough to combat a lifetime of teachings from the church. But the other thing she had told him, that was worth considering. If she was right, and Ezio truly did love him, then that changed everything. Suddenly he was not alone in his affections. Though it might not be right, he could be happy. And was that not what every man desired? Happiness? Love? He had been so good, denying himself ever since the trial, and all it had brought him was heartache and longing. The feelings had never gone away, and it was time to admit that maybe they wouldn’t. Maybe it was just a part of who he was. And Ezio understood that, knew of it and still wanted Leonardo as a friend, possibly more. Maybe...maybe Teodora was right. Maybe there was nothing wrong with him.

He stared at the cape a moment more, considering. Then, before he could change his mind about being silly, he brought it to his nose and inhaled deeply.

Ezio’s scent flooded his senses, wrapping him up in a feeling of safety and desire and comfort and love. Everything Ezio meant to Leonardo could be found in his scent. He clutched the fabric closer, breathing it in over and over, drowning in Ezio’s presence.

Then, at once, the wolf inside of him perked up. Ezio’s smell had caught its attention, and he found himself suddenly awash with surprisingly strong desire. He moaned softly, becoming aroused as Ezio’s scent permeated the air. He found himself vaguely amused by his body’s reaction. No matter what his human side thought of their feelings, it was pretty clear that the wolf wanted Ezio, and it did not care one bit for what anyone else thought.

He walked slowly over to a chair by the fire and settled down into it with his legs splayed, keeping the cape pressed to his face. With his free hand, he slowly stroked himself down his stomach, reaching the edge of his tunic, and then running his fingers back up again. He followed the same path a few times, and then when his hand drifted even lower, he rucked up his hem, giving himself better access to his breeches. He teased his finger along the seam for a few minutes, his breath starting to speed up, before he finally slipped his hand inside to grip his rapidly filling cock. He gave it a few languid strokes, bringing it to full hardness, and then quickly pulled his hand out so he could unlace his breeches and gain more room.

Finally freed of his constraints, he pushed the fabric down his hips, then brought his hand back up. He closed his eyes and imagined Ezio kneeling between his knees, looking up at him with his usual playful smirk. Leonardo started by stroking teasingly along the underside of his cock, trailing his fingertips along the vein, and imagining that it was Ezio’s tongue. He swiped a thumb over the head, and pretended that it had been Ezio lapping at it. He briefly let go to lick a long stripe of saliva up his palm, and then wrapped it firmly around the base and began stroking, picturing the way Ezio’s mouth would swallow him down completely, cheeks hollowing as he began to suck lightly.

Leonardo threw his head back and moaned, cape falling from his hand to pool on the floor next to the chair. He no longer needed it, Ezio scent filling his senses so completely and adding to his fantasy. He pumped himself with abandon, the mental image of Ezio’s mouth around his manhood driving him mad.

“Ah, yes!” he cried out as he brushed his thumb once more over the head of his cock, the beautiful sensation sending a jolt through him. In his mind Ezio pulled back slightly to focus on the tip, tongue and lips working together to massage and tease Leonardo into incoherency. “Yes, Ezio!”

Because he had been covered in the scent of the cape, Leonardo didn’t notice that he wasn’t alone until the softest of sounds came from beside him. His eyes flew open in shock and he looked up to see that Ezio himself was standing right next to the chair, hand hovering over the back, frozen in place. He was staring down at Leonardo with the most shocked expression Leonardo had ever seen on him, and his face was bright red. Leonardo felt his own face heat up in response and he jerked his hand away from his lap and tried to hastily cover himself with the edge of his tunic. He was not very successful.

The two men stared at each other for a long minute, both too embarrassed to speak, until Ezio seemed to come to his senses. He cleared his throat loudly, started to speak but found he couldn’t, tried clearing his throat again, and finally spoke.

“You don’t have to stop,” he said, still blushing, finally breaking eye contact to look down at his feet.

Leonardo could only gape at him.

When Leonardo didn’t respond, Ezio looked up again. “I can leave if...if you would like me to. If that would...help.”

Leonardo still couldn’t find his words, so after a moment or two, Ezio started to awkwardly start to shuffle away.

Then Leonardo surprised them both by reaching out and snagging Ezio’s sleeve. “Wait,” he whispered, voice equally hoarse as Ezio’s had been. The Assassin stared down at him, waiting, but no longer moving away.

They stayed like that, once again awkwardly staring at each other, until Leonardo recalled Teodora’s words. Ezio would never make the first move, scared that Leonardo would turn him away. So it was up to him to make anything happen, as terrifying as it would be. Closing his eyes and drawing on the confidence of the wolf inside of him, Leonardo decided to finally make a move.

Catching Ezio’s eye again, Leonardo maintained his gaze, even as he once again slipped a hand around his cock and began to leisurely stroke it. Ezio’s breath hitched as he watched, his eyes widening minutely, but he made no motion to leave or look away. Instead he stared at the up and down motion of Leonardo’s hand as if mesmerized. Leonardo caught him licking his lips, tongue barely catching on the scar.

“May I?” Ezio breathed, gesturing downward. Leonardo swallowed thickly, but drew his hand away and spread his legs further. Needing no further invitation, Ezio swooped into the space staring down at Leonardo’s cock intently.

He slowly, hesitantly, took hold of it, and started attempting to mimic some of the things he must have just seen Leonardo doing. Leonardo faintly wondered exactly how long Ezio had been there, when Ezio suddenly leant down and took the tip in his mouth just as Leonardo had imagined, and then he wasn’t wondering anything.

It was slightly different than Leonardo had pictured. Ezio clearly had very little experience, for one. It was also much slobberier than he had expected. But the one thing that he couldn’t deny was that it was good. He had already been so close from his own efforts, that Ezio had to only bob his head thrice more before Leonardo was pushing him away. Ezio started to make a noise of protest but he was cut off by Leonardo suddenly climaxing, shooting his seed all over the other man’s face. Ezio gasped in surprise, and a small amount landed in his mouth as well. Leonardo moaned at the sight.

For a while the air was filled with nothing but their harsh breathing. Then, finally, Leonardo pulled his breeches up and laced them, fixing his clothes so they lay properly. Ezio just watched, face still covered in Leonardo’s mess. Reaching out with one finger, Leonardo stroked the tip through one of the strands on Ezio’s cheek, and brought it to his own lips, sucking the digit inside. Ezio tracked the movement fully, and a choked of moan escaped his throat as Leonardo tasted his own essence.

“I think it’s your turn,” Leonardo suggested mildly.

Ezio could only nod eagerly in response.

After they had both been satisfied and cleaned up, they ended up sitting in Leonardo’s kitchen, munching on his store of nuts and fruits for lunch. They hadn’t spoken more than a few words to each other since Ezio had arrived, but Leonardo was thinking of changing that this very instant. He opened his mouth to speak.

“Was that also because of the full moon?” Ezio cut him off, and Leonardo was surprised to hear bitterness in Ezio’s voice. “Or a misunderstanding? Or just a mistake?”

“Ezio?” Leonardo leaned across the table, reaching out for the other man’s hand, but it was jerked away.

“That’s what you’re going to say, isn’t it?” Ezio asked him mildly. “I can see it. You regret it.”

“Wha – Ezio, no! That was – ” Leonardo blushed furiously, but pushed on. “That was incredible. Better than I ever imagined it could be.”

Ezio still looked sullen, but he perked up a little. “You had imagined us like that before?”

It was a good thing that Leonardo could not blush any harder, because admitting to his fantasies was frankly mortifying. But for some reason Ezio was upset, and he wanted to get to the bottom of it quickly.

“Ezio, I have thought of you like...that for almost as long as we have been friends. I have always desired you. I just never thought you would feel the same, so I said nothing.”

Ezio blinked in surprise. “Really? But what changed?”

Leonardo rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. “Your friend Sister Teodora had a few things to say to me when she hosted me this morning.”

Ezio’s mouth dropped open. “She did not.”

“She did.”

“Ah!” Ezio let his head drop on the table. “Interfering whore,” he muttered into the dark wood, and Leonardo had to hide a grin behind his cup of water. “Wait,” Ezio’s head flew back up. “But then why would you not look at me, nor speak to me after we had finished?”

This is what is bothering you?” Leonardo laughed. “Ezio, in case you haven’t noticed, you have never given me any indication that you were remotely interested. All I had as proof was the words of an ‘interfering whore’ as you put it. Honestly, I thought you were the one regretting it.”

Ezio stared down at the table, considering. “To be honest, I have never really been with a man before,” he admitted softly. “Nothing beyond a few stolen kisses. I am a bit...nervous. I’m not used to being inexperienced in such areas.”

“Well, they say practice makes perfect,” Leonardo offered lightly.

Catching his implication, Ezio smirked up at him. “I would not object to a few more...lessons.”

“Then I would be more than happy to instruct you,” Leonardo joked back. “Though,” his face fell. “It has been a long time for me. Perhaps you are not the only one who requires practice.”

“Then we shall simply practice together!” Ezio declared cheerfully. “Perhaps tonight?”

“I...don’t think that’s such a good idea,” Leonardo chuckled, shaking his head. The smile on Ezio’s face quickly turned into a pout.

“Why not?” he whined shamelessly.

“Because it’s still the full moon tonight?” Leonardo reminded him gently. “I don’t want to imagine transforming in the middle of such...activities.”

Ezio winced, and then nodded. “Agreed.”

“But perhaps tomorrow,” Leonardo suggested as he gathered up the remains of their meal. Ezio grinned, pleased with the idea, and then got up to help with the dishes.

+++

That night, Ezio agreed to leave Leonardo in the chains to avoid another incident like the night before, though he insisted on staying in the cellar so that Leonardo wouldn’t be alone. As the changes overcame him, it occurred to Leonardo that he’d never actually told Ezio that he loved him. But Ezio was a smart man, he probably understood.

They curled up together, man and wolf, and slept until morning.

+++

When Ezio finally left, two days later, he promised to drop by the house where Felice and Valerio were hiding out and send them home. When the boys arrived they wore expressions that were a mix of smug satisfaction and fear of punishment. Leonardo stared down at them with his hands on his hips, face stern, waiting for one of them to crack.

They both cracked at once. Accusations flew freely, fingers were pointed, and Felice even tugged on Valerio’s hair, resulting in receiving an elbow to the gut. Leonardo cut them off with a wave of his hand and they instantly fell silent.

“Boys,” he started. “You know what you did wrong, yes?”

They both nodded sullenly.

“Then you will know better than to complain about your list of punishments. Number one, you will be cleaning every single brush and palette in this workshop. Number two you will be washing the floors of the workshop. Number three...”

As the boys followed him, groaning, inside, he couldn’t help smiling a little to himself. What they didn’t know was that after they finished taking care of all of their punishments, Leonardo was taking them to see a play as a reward. Because after all, they had managed to set this all in motion. They deserved it.

OMG, posting this was an episode in frustration! I seriously need a new laptop. *headdesk* But it's done! Hope it was worth the wait!

What Anon said goes for me too. Also, I love :“I don’t want to imagine transforming in the middle of such...activities.” Nor would I! :-P

Ezio is an impatient lad, no? Now that he knows how Leo feels. So sweet. And I love his plan to protect Leonardo. And the chase game was so sweet, and so fun. I loved Ezio's little admission that he misses Federico and the games they played together. Now you have a Leo, Ezio, and he will play with you! :-)

And I love how much thought and work went into this fic, it really shows how much you worked on it. Oh! And the interfering Teodora is fabulous, here, too. I think she is the voice of all of us, watching the boys dance around each other.

I hope this fic hasn't been abandoned! Leo *needs* to tell Ezio those three little words!
