*sighs in contentment*. Yes, *thisss*. This is exactly what I need after a long, frustrating, overall 'one-of-*those*-days' day. I am extremely happy to see this; well written, and just what I needed.

Poor Desmond. If Altair ever happens to figure out/overhear what's happened to him - well. Upon learning about the animus, and that Desmond's been forced to live through HIS life - he'll go nuts.

...though for some reason, I think he might be proud of Desmond's running away from the Farm.

Depends on what Altaïr thinks of the Order's current incarnation, even allowing for how it's under worse straits than its Middle Ages and Rennaissance counterparts, seeing as besides Ezio's retirement, there were Assassins who fell out with the Order...

Being born into an Assassin family and being trained in basic self-defense is one thing, but deliberately raising kids and training them for the sole purpose of breeding the next generation of fighters? I think both Ezio and Altair would take exception to that. Then again, I'm probably projecting.

I just hope to see Altair rabidly protective of his descendant...

(have the sudden mental image of eagle!Altair and eagle!Ezio standing protectively over Desmond and snapping and snarling at everyone...)

I won't accuse you of projecting, BUT I personally believe that Ezio would take more offense than Altaïr -- after all, Revelations (which seemingly is used here) and I understand The Secret Crusade both suggest that Altaïr himself was one of those raised and trained "for the sole purpose of breeding the next generation of fighters", and frankly Revelations swings back towards AC1 compared to the AC2/ACB games' "tone".

Interestingly enough, if one takes Revelations and The Lost Archives to be canon, then Lucy herself was like Desmond in that respect...

(Sorry, I just have a soft spot for Lucy and my headcanon is still stuck in Brotherhood.)

I guess it really depends on the nature of the Farm. We really don't know all that much about it, canonically, only that it was a place where future Assassins were raised and trained. Personally, considering that this was a place that compelled Desmond not only to run for it but *disappear* - well, I'm inclined to think the worst. That, and I just like stories lambasting the place.

I think, irregardless of how Desmond was treated, the fact that he managed to not only escape from the place but evade *fully-trained Assassins* at a young age with no formal training would be - well, impressive, from Altair's perspective.

Authornon here - I'm pleased that I made your day better! It sounds like you just had a bathtub moment (a bathtub moment is when you slip into the bath and the temperature is juuuuuust right and it feels perfect making you feel blissed out). I have to disagree with the "well written" - its probably not one of my best chapters. :S I should probably get a beta or something to catch my writing quirks.

Altaïr is liable to go absolutely off his head. He doesn't know what the Animus is, although he does know what a computer is, sort of. Wouldn't you go nuts if you found out someone has been reliving your life and seeing all of your vulnerable and intimate moments? But yeah, angry eagle is not a good eagle to be around.

Of course, if he finds out that it's the *Templars* that not only invented the technology but literally forced Desmond into it - well, Desmond might survive Altair's sudden explosion of wrath.

And have a frantic ancestor absolutely convinced that the 'chick' can not take care of himself. Cue protective stalking.

*LOVED* the 'novice' bit!
