FILL 17/?
(Anonymous) 2012-12-13 02:03 am (UTC)(link)I'm sorry for how late and short this is. I got sick and lots of little things IRL happened, so... yeah. But on the plus side, 90% of the rest of the story is now planned out!
Church makes him stay overnight in his office, just to be safe. Connor doesn't particularly like the man. His bedside manner leaves much to be desired, though Connor supposes that his skill in medicine makes up a little for his abrasiveness.
When he eventually gets permission from the physician to return to his rooms, he suddenly feels scared. He is still weak, though less so than before. He is still badly injured, even if he's healing. He is vulnerable.
He hasn't been vulnerable in a long time.
He limps as fast as he can to Haytham's rooms. He wants nothing more than to be with him, to be comforted, but until he returns, the next best thing is his bed and his clothes and his things.
Connor curses out loud when he finds the door locked. He doesn't have the right tools with him to do any lockpicking. Hell, he doesn't have any tools at all. He's on the other side of the mansion, and Lee could be anywhere.
He bites his lip, tries to fight off the dread and panic that starts to unfurl within him at the mere thought of that... that monster. He shakes his head, takes deep breaths.
He tries to tell himself that it wasn't that bad, that it was just sex. Lee didn't ask but there's no reason behind all this terror. He shouldn't be so afraid.
His desperately disjointed logic doesn't work. If anything, he feels worse.
He spends nearly half an hour stealthily making his way to his rooms. If he wasn't injured, he could've done it in half the time. Just one more horrible reminder of things he does not want to think about.
...
Johnson comes to visit him later. This time he wants to talk about folklore, religion and mythology. His questions are... invasive, though he is sure Johnson does not mean to be. However, Connor feels uncomfortable with many of Johnson's questions, especially the ones about sacred objects and ceremonies. Perhaps one day in the future, he would meet Colonists who would respect the masks and the prayers and the dances of his people, but Johnson is not one of them.
So he lies, just a little bit.
"I... I am afraid I know little about the rituals and ceremonies the Clan Mother and the others performed. It isn't that they left me out, but my village was being rebuilt through much of my childhood, and I left the village at an early age, so I did not have much chance to learn about such things. I saw some ceremonies of course, but it was a long time ago, and I do not remember most of the details."
"Oh," Johnson looks disappointed. "Well, could you tell me a little of your folklore? Of your spirits and whatnot?"
"Certainly," Connor smiles, trying to seem helpful despite his growing unease. This is not just about his village anymore. He needs allies, protection. "Where would you like to begin?"
Johnson looks thoughtful.
"Do you have any creation stories? Of how the world came to be? I should like to hear them."
"My tribe believe that a goddess fell from the sky-world she lived in. I suppose the closest description to her world in your words would be 'heaven'."
"Fascinating," Johnson says, and somehow it makes Connor's skin crawl. He gives a shortened, simplified account of the legend, and wishes that he hadn't mentioned it at all. It feels wrong, to give a man like Johnson something so special, so integral to his culture. The man scribbles pages of notes as Connor speaks.
He's glad when Johnson excuses himself for a moment, to fetch something from his quarters.
He's less glad when, while Johnson is gone, he looks through Johnson's notes out of curiosity and sees sketches of himself, ones where his eyes are closes and his hair is loose and there are pictures of wounds and he knows he did not consent to these. He feels horrified, and that horror is magnified a thousand times over when he flips the pages and sees his hips and cock and ass and thighs sketched in loving detail, labelled with notes regarding dimensions and injuries and he thinks he's going to be sick again.
Johnson merely looks irritated when Connor loses it upon his return, screaming bloody murder at this intrusion, because he is sick being violated, sick of being treated like he isn't even human, sick of being confined. He doesn't know which one of them is worse- Johnson or Lee, and he isn't even sure which language he is ruining his throat with. He shoves Johnson out of the door, and throws his papers and notebooks at his face. He slams the door and reattaches the bell that used to hang from the handle, just in case Johnson gets any funny ideas.
And then he leans heavily against the door, having absolutely no idea what to do.
Church must be in on it, too, he realises. Johnson could not have spied on him in his drugged slumber without alerting Church. Church would have had a use for the information.
Connor laughs, because it's either that or cry. How could he have been so naive?
Nowhere in this accursed place is safe.
He wishes Haytham were here.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-13 07:34 am (UTC)(link)Oh Anon. That scene with Johnson got to me even more than the rape scene did. The rape was bad enough, but sketching Connor when he was weak and injured seems even worse somehow. And sketching his private areas too...The man knows no shame, clearly >.<
I still adore this fill Anon, even if it breaks my heart to read at times. Keep up the good work. ^^

(Anonymous) 2012-12-13 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)What Johnson is doing is just horrible..
This fill has exceeded my expectation by miles!

(Anonymous) 2012-12-15 01:29 am (UTC)(link)I want Haytham back soon to comfort Connor, but in a way, I also don't, as he's pretty much the 'mastermind' behind this.
Achilles, get moving!
