I am so mean to him. So, so, so mean to him.

Haytham will find that he actually wasn't wrong about some things with his father. Charles actually did come to genuinely care for and love Connor. But he's got entire years of subjugating Connor, and he still doesn't trust him completely. Connor does not love Charles. He tolerates him out of necessity and appreciates how he's actually a decent father most of the time (not recently though), but he cannot love him.

And he will despise him for the 180 that he did on their son.

Well, when the angst becomes too much - I do try to focus on the fluffier memories Connor must have while imprisoned. He obviously bonded with his father, was reunited with his living recruits and perhaps the people of the Homestead and the Aquila crew... though I doubt Faulkner is still alive, remained good friends with Kanon to the time of his death, and sure there were some fluffy family moments before everything goes to hell.

Definitely. Spado, Yusuf, his son, Kanon, the homesteaders, his living recruits, the Aquila crew...

Just not Charles. He'd start to when Charles was very good to Haytham, but then he'd remember what Charles did to him.
