FILL: Brothers of the Shadow 4/?

William Miles leaned back tiredly, rubbing the bridge of his nose in a feeble attempt to rid himself of the coming migraine he felt. So much of the rebellion's plans had already fallen through the cracks - most of the reasons behind them due related to spy networks Marcella had taken over after she'd had the last Queen of Hayll raped and killed in her own bedroom. And now, to add one more log to the fire, Desmond was under Marcella's control as well. But that didn't mean they were out of options. No one within the Realm of Light was truly aware that there were three powerful Warlord Prince brothers walking among the courts, circling one another like familiar vultures over the same carcass. They all saw Altair and Ezio, and saw danger. They looked at Connor, and saw danger. And then they looked at Desmond and laughed. Because Desmond, who had grown up being thrown from one court to the next, playing the part of the whore and the slave, had learned to play the game better than his brothers, despite being the youngest of them all. He had seen Briarwood, the prettiest of all poisons, and walked the path of the Twisted Kingdom for nearly five years before he had straightened himself out.

Marcella had wanted power, and now she had it. William knew thought that without the bonds of loyalty made between Queens and their warriors, she would never get that power. Especially not from Desmond, who among the three was unbound to any and all outside sources. He held loyalty to no one and nothing -- and that made him much more dangerous than the other three, who were married or at least betrothed in Connor's case. The Rings Marcella had put on them would hinder them only so long as Desmond allowed the game to play itself out. But once his temper reached the breaking point, and Marcella began to demand more, William knew nothing in the world would stop him from freeing himself and his brothers. Especially since the only one who wore a darker Jewel than Desmond was Altair, and Altair usually went along with whatever Desmond did - they were similar in that regard, unlike Altair and Ezio, who usually ended up bickering.

So while Desmond dealt with Marcella and her upset throne, William would force the Dark Council back, giving his sons plenty of room for a killing field should they need it. It wouldn't be easy, especially now that Vidic was on the Council, but William hadn't spent the last few years playing puppeteer to his sons just to get his strings cut. Besides, it had been a long while since he'd let his darker side out; it might turn out to be a decent challenge once he aired his birthright Jewel a bit and let them get a taste of what he was.

Everything his sons were had come from him, after all, and just like with cloning, the original was always superior to the copy. By the time he was through with the Dark Council, they would have learned to fear him and his sons all in one fell swoop - perhaps even long enough for him to die in peace and Desmond to take over. Smiling, William dug into his desk for a sheet of paper and began to write to Haytham.

The Darkness knew the other man would love a chance to tussle with the figureheads behind his Queen's recent distress. And if William could pull the strings to make such an opportunity arise, well then who could say what might happen?

It had taken the bitch Queen all of fifteen minutes to realize her four most prized possessions had flown the coop, and another twenty to capture them. Desmond had jokingly asked if they should sit down and play Go-Fish while they waited for the guards to show up and drag them back. Connor had shaken his head while Ezio had laughed, Altair rolling his eyes in exasperation. In the end, they had decided to simply wait and talk about what had gone on. There was a lot of catching up to do, especially with Desmond, since they hadn't seen him since Briarwood. The subject was still sore, and they mentioned it only in passing to keep Desmond's blood pressure rising any higher than necessary.

It had gone from quiet conversations to snuggling, and that was when the guards had found them and dragged them back. Desmond hadn't put up a fight like he could have, instead just smiling lazily and walking right along, all the way back to the Queen's castle and up to the throne room where the bitch herself sat. Except she wasn't alone; it seemed Shaun and Rebecca were with her, as were several of her coven. They quickly swarmed like flies once the four of them were brought back inside, creating a circle around them to view them from as Marcella's eyes grew dark with rage.

"So, how did your little escape plan work? I'm guessing you all got a good dose of pain from my Ring."

They had. The entire time they had run and talked, the Ring had been squeezing harder and harder down on their cocks, causing them to wince and even miss a step on occasion. None of them had said anything, but it had been there. Desmond just shrugged, eyes on Shaun and Rebecca. Shaun was speaking with his eyes, and the message was clear - they only needed to play the game for a few more precious moments before they could unleash Hell.

Marcella clearly was not happy at being ignored, because she snapped her fingers and the guards behind him gripped his arms and shoved him down to the ground, jerking back slightly when he snarled at them softly in warning. The bitch was hardly impressed, and rose from her throne to come closer. Desmond realized she had yet to change out of the sheer gown from earlier - probably still hoping one of them would break. If this game was truly in its final stages, that meant only one of them needed to play the bitch, and Desmond could easily do that in his sleep. So he relaxed, letting himself take in Marcella disgusting scent as if he craved it, and used his psychic energy to weave a seduction spell around her, urging her to strip him and use him for her pleasure as she saw fit. The coven would watch and see where he belonged. His brothers would watch and learn from their mistakes. They would desire as he did, and she would have what she wanted.

The spell was well-woven, not easy to get out of. He heard Ezio suck in a breath as he felt the spell caress their bodies as well, slipping past them and onto the guards, and then further, onto the coven itself. Within moments he had the entirety of the room under his spell, save for him, Rebecca, Shaun and his brothers, who watched and played the game.

Smelling the Queen's arousal, Desmond tilted his head just slightly, and lowered his voice, making it husky, bedroom hungry. "Is there something you want, my Queen?"

Oh yes, how well he could play the game. He felt Ezio's shudder of revulsion, heard Altair's little noise of surprise and saw Connor's eyes widen slightly. Connor hadn't been around when Desmond had gone to Briarwood, and had heard only rumors. None of them had seen him in action, not like this. None of them had heard the pet name assigned to him through the various courts he had served; they didn't know that he had brought pleasure to women while tearing them apart inside and out, planting little bombs in them designed to go off as soon as they left the bedroom. All they saw was their little brother acting like a whore, drawing the room in like a net of flies before a spider.

Marcella made a tiny sound that registered as want in Desmond's mind. He upped the spell just slightly, teasing her with images of him, tied down in her grasp, surrendering to her while she rode him. Then, to add the cherry on top, he showed her later in the vision, belly swelling with his child, being loved and adored by all. And that was all it took. Faster than anyone could move, she was by him in an instant, grabbing his hair and forcing his head up for a brutal kiss. He accepted it passively, forcing down nausea and telling himself it was for the good of his brothers and the rebellion. He had fucked up by getting himself caught - it was time to make up for that. A little sacrifice before victory, after all.

"Yes," Marcella breathed, ripping at the little clothing remaining on his body, exposing him before them all. The coven drew in tighter, wanting eyes and hands beginning to move. Desmond smiled and relaxed, spreading his legs willingly. A silent offer for Marcella to take all that he was - if she thought she could handle it.

Clearly, she was arrogant enough to believe she could. Not that it mattered - the spell was doing its job, inciting hostile lust among the mass within the hall. In a few moments, the males would turn rabid, and the females hungry. They would crave and want and crack, and then they would find themselves in agony as reality would sink in. The males would use their bodies for their own dark enjoyment, and the females would bleed and run and be caught and raped, slowly dying as the guards became more and more insane, until at long last only Marcella herself was left.

And she would suffer. Desmond had made sure of that. The spell would heal her wounds while she was attacked, making it impossible for her to die until the spell wore off. At with the potency he'd packed into it, Desmond could easily say that it would take at least two days for it to stop, for the guards to regain enough of themselves to pull away from the ruined body that was their Queen. Her power would be shattered, as she was still a virgin, for all her attempts to use them as pleasure slaves, and Hayll's reign would come to an abrupt end. The rebellion would still happen, but he and his brothers would not be here when it did.

Whimpering moans, quiet at first, and then louder began to sound. Desmond grinned and purred, hands reaching out to draw the Queen to him. She didn't resist, pushing him onto his back and reaching down to stroke his cock, trying one last time to get it up, to have what she so desperately wanted. As the last coherent thought in her head, Desmond decided to humor her, and created an illusion. One that fulfilled her every desire, starting with sex and ending with her eternal devotion. None of it would be real, of course, but she would feel as if it were, right up until the guards caught and raped her to death.

Only then would the cold grip of reality sink back in, and she would discover just how dangerous it was to tangle with the Incubus.

THIS WAS MORE THAN I COULD HAVE EVER HOPED FOR. Wow, wow, wow, you've captured it perfectly (and how did you manage to write so fast? That's an incredible amount in such a short time!) wow. Thank you so much. There's just so much to love about this. From Desmond's role as Incubus, and Shaun and Rebecca lurking from the sidelines (the tea had me cackling madly), to Ezio (Eyrien!) and Altaïr (he wears the Black! Excellent!) getting through their drugging with the mantra of their wives...ah!

Thank you. Even if you didn't write any more, it would be still be perfection.

Oh thank god, I am doing this right! :D

It's just I've never done a crossover like this before, and I really love both of these series, and when I love something I need to make it as perfect as possible. So to hear back from you four chapters in saying its perfect makes me a very happy writer. Especially about Desmond as Incubus - I was worried I was starting to mold him into Daemon by giving him a pet name like that, but it seems you don't mind.

As to my secret of writing so fast? A lot of inspiration and fast fingers.

Connor had met Ezio when he'd been six hundred years old, and they had all been sent to Briarwood. At the time, Connor hadn't understood what Briarwood was, or why he was being sent there. He didn't understand why the 'doctors' looked at him as if he were pitiable, or why the strange men and women came around and leered at him through the bars of his cell. He didn't understand until he met Ezio, who had been twice his age and ready to take on the world. He and his brothers, Altair and Desmond had shared a cell, and out of all of them, Ezio was the biggest threat at the time. Altair was a quiet soul, and Desmond was like Connor - young, too young to understand the hows or whys of Briarwood's influence. He only knew that they'd been sent there for some reason, and that the doctors came in four times a day to give them little pills that made them groggy and obedient.

Connor had been raised by Haytham for most of his life, but when Haytham had gone off to court, he'd been left by himself. The only relatives he had left to take him in were his cousin's family, and they didn't like him. They said he was strange, that his ways were unholy and he needed to stop. They said HE was unholy, and they needed to cast him from the house because he was the one causing all the mayhem. It was because of him that his cousin got beat up, that his father lost his job, and his mother caught a hard-to-cure disease and nearly died. Connor didn't understand how all of that could be his fault, but he wanted to be helpful, so he let them send him away with nothing but the clothes on his back and the locket his father had given him for his last birthday.

Briarwood was a pretty poison; it slowly sucked the life out of him the longer he stayed. He was molded to be whatever the doctors wanted him to be, although in his more lucid moments he tried to fight off the little white pills, tried to stay sane and less obedient. The doctors chastised him for his rude behavior, saying that the pills would make him better, that he would be cured of his problems. Connor had responded that he didn't want to be cured, and that was when the first bad man came, and Connor met Ezio.

Back then, Connor had just finished his Birthright Ceremony, and received his first Jewel. It wasn't very strong, but it was pretty and it sparkled in the light, and its power felt nice, so Connor hung on to it. His father had said it was an Opal Jewel; the dividing line between light and dark Jewels and it could be considered either. Connor didn't understand that either, and hadn't had a chance to ask his father more about it. The only thing he remembered about the Jewel besides it being the dividing line was that when his father had touched it, something inside of him had warmed and purred, like a contented cat. His father had said he had felt the same thing when Connor had touched his Birthright Jewel (his father wore the Sapphire, which was also very pretty) and it meant that the person was good. If someone touched the Jewel and it felt like a growl, then it meant the person was bad, and he needed to tap into the Jewel's power and use it to get away, no matter what it took. If it meant blood being spilled, then that was fine.

Connor hadn't liked the idea of killing someone just to free himself, but he had nervously agreed with his father's words. Later that evening after he refused his medication though, he began to realize that his father had not said it to be cruel, but as a wake up call to what the world was like. A man had come into his cell - Charles Lee, Connor recalled, and had grinned at him in a way that hadn't been nice. It had been the same sort of grin the other men and women that came near his cell had given him, the ones that made him feel tingles up and down his spine. Lee had ordered him on his hands and knees, and when Connor had refused, he had attacked him and tried to rape him. Connor had screamed, his Jewel blazing, and lashed out. But instead of striking the man like he'd seen his father do, he'd hit a 'wall'. Lee had informed him that he wore the darker Jewels, which meant that any attempts to defend himself on Connor's end would result in pain. Connor hadn't cared, and kept attacking. But the more he attacked, the more he began to panic and realize that his father wasn't going to save him, and he didn't know anyone who could stop Lee. The doctors wouldn't - they had let the man in. So Connor had gathered up the last of his energy in one defiant ball and let it loose in the loudest scream for help he could possibly make.

And Ezio, who had been right down the hall from him, had roared back.

Ezio had called it an Eryien war cry, and told him that it was what the adult males did before going into battle. Sometime between Lee getting his hand between Connor's legs and Connor breaking down in fear, Ezio had kicked the door in and slaughtered Lee where he sat. The warm caress of blood had made Connor open his eyes, and he had met the impossibly emotionless, utterly cold gaze of the young Warlord Prince who would later become his clan brother. He had trembled, believing that Ezio would kill him, but warmth and love had seeped into the other's eyes so quickly it made him dizzy, and before Connor could say a word Ezio had scooped him up and carried him back to the 'nest/den' where Altair and Desmond were and burrowed in after him.

It turned out the three brothers had been put in Briarwood by their mother, who believed Warlord Princes were demons that needed to either be perfectly obedient or put away. They had all been older than him, and had gone through their Birthright Ceremonies as well as training in what it meant to be a Warlord Prince. They had explained Briarwood to him, told him what those men and women were looking at him like that for, and taught him what it meant to be a Warlord Prince. Because of Ezio, he had remained intact both inside and out, and grown to become one of the most deadly males walking the Realms. Eventually Haytham and William (Altair, Ezio and Desmond's father) had gotten word of where their boys were and pulled them out. Connor knew for a fact that they'd all gotten out - which is why it didn't make any sense to hear that Desmond had been forced to go back.

Seeing his brother on the floor, weaving a seduction spell while Death whispered in his ear had finally driven it home. Watching the spell breaking and everyone going wild around him, the cacophony of sounds emerging as the women began to fuck the person nearest them and the men assaulted the women... it was horrible. But it made him realize that when Altair had told him one dark quiet night that the Council had forced William to make Desmond go back... it had turned Desmond into a predator among predators. He walked, acted and spoke like he did because he was twice as dangerous as any of them. He knew the games that were being played before even the Queens did, and he had a counter available for every single one. It was a terrifying realization, and it made Connor wish he had known sooner.

The worst part was that when he had asked, "Why did they make him go back?" Ezio and Altair had looked at each other, as if debating whether or not to tell him. They must have agreed on it, because they told him why.

"He's Father's heir. Father wears the Black, and is one of the most influential existences out there among the Realms. The Council can't beat him - but they can stop another one from growing. That's why they sent him back," Altair had told him, completely stone faced. "I wear the Black as well, but I don't have the talent Desmond does to handle people. I can't do what he and Father do. So instead, I protect him, keep him sane in other ways. We keep him grounded, so that he can do what he does."

Connor felt sick as he watched Desmond pick himself up off the ground and dust himself off before smiling at them and gesturing to the door. But he followed, understanding just how much of a mistake the Council had made when they had sent Desmond back. They had wanted to keep him from becoming a threat, but in the process they had created a monster. And now that monster was heading straight for them, like a dark storm cloud overhead. He would eradicate them, Connor knew, and then he'd go back home and play with Altair and Ezio's kids like he wasn't a nightmare wandering around the Realms.

"Walk softly when you walk among us..." Connor murmured as they took the Red Wind towards Kaeleer, where William and Haytham were waiting. "I always wondered what that meant."

And now, he knew.

To say the Council was put out by their arrival was a little bit of an understatement. Especially once they put Vidic in his place in a little under three minutes - the man was actually ballsy enough to suggest they make an appointment. A quiet blast of his power had silenced that argument well enough, and now the Council members were somewhere between scowls and shivers, trying futilely to resist as William demanded the papers tying his son to Marcella's court be wiped from the record.

"You cannot simply barge in here and demand--"

"I can do any damn thing I please, Vidic. Especially considering I'm the only thing standing between you and my son right now." His smile was chilly, a reminder of what exactly he was. He might not have been long-lived, but that didn't mean he wasn't powerful. After all, everything his sons were came from him. Beside him, Haytham was smirking openly, eyes dancing will hellfire. He'd gotten rid of his Queen's problems first thing, and William had let him, knowing it would take Desmond a while to arrive. The Red Wind would only take him so far before they would have to transfer over to either the Ebon-Gray or the Black.

Vidic stared at him, and then shook his head. "Mr. Miles, I'm not quite sure what you mean. Are you trying to say that somehow your son has worked his way out of the court and is on his way here?"

William nodded, smiling pleasantly. Now they were starting to get it. At least, the ones around Vidic were. Vidic himself had never met his son, didn't know how close son resembled father. That was alright; there would be plenty of time for lessons. Out of habit, William checked his watch. It had been exactly a day since he had told his son to escape and given Shaun and Rebecca the go-ahead for the mission. Now Marcella's palace was overturned, and the Incubus was on his way in. It was almost a shame he was so short lived, William thought, he would never be able to see what would befall Desmond when he found that one person designed for him. What would happen to the Incubus when that happened, he wondered. Would that facet of his personality simply vanish, never to be seen again? Would it transform into something loving and warm? Or would it continue to exist, only revealing its face whenever it was needed?

Vidic began to go on a tangent about why Desmond couldn't possibly be on his way there, and William turned to Haytham. "Do me a favor, if you can."

"What would that be?"

"Look after my son when I go. You don't need to look over his shoulder every second of the day, but check in on him every now and again. Could you do that for me?"

The look on Haytham's face was a combination of tender resignation and sad understanding. "Of course I can old son. Of course I can."

They shared a smile then, the reminder of their fragile brotherhood almost too great a pain to bear. Haytham had been with him when Desmond had gotten out of Briarwood the second time, and he had been with him when Altair had been captured, the Order threatened, and even when his wife had given birth one final time to a stillborn - a baby girl that would have been Desmond's little sister. They had even had a name picked out for her - Lucy. Little Lucy with her big brother Desmond. A memory never to see the lights of day. It hadn't been long after that until his wife had passed on, but that had been the one time he'd lost something that he hadn't cried over. He had stopped crying the day he'd been with his wife on her deathbed, and he'd asked her why she sent his boys to Briarwood in the first place. The answer, he could still recall, chilled him to the bone and nearly sent him to the killing edge. But he hadn't, because Haytham had been there.

Perhaps, if he had more time in this world, they might have become lovers. Ziio had vanished not long after giving birth to Connor, a tragedy in itself that Haytham had never quite shaken off. But time had dulled the wound, and the feeling of family had done the rest. Ziio, William recalled, had been of the Dea al Mon. Connor had inherited most of his father's traits, save for the pointed ears that he kept hidden behind the hood he always wore. Those ears were the one part of his body he was proudest of, because it was the only part of him that reminded him he'd ever had a mother to begin with.

William had been confused then, understandably, the first time he'd watched Connor curl his hair over his ears, hiding them from sight. It was only when he'd asked Connor why that he'd realized the boy wasn't doing it for himself, but for Haytham, who saw Ziio whenever Connor had his ears out. The boy understood that his father needed to move on, and he needed to take it in small steps. So Connor kept his ears hidden, grew his hair long and braided it back only for formal events, which were few and far between nowadays, especially now that Connor was in the Shadow Order alongside Altair, Ezio and Desmond.

And speaking of the brothers...

William felt the whisper of Darkness before he felt them. It began as a slow tremble through the earth, the torches on the walls flickering, casting frightful shadows onto the stone. Then the torches went out, and in the distance a door began to open. And then another. And then a third. There were five total doors between the front of the building and this room, and they were all opening at the same time, putting themselves out of the way of the creature that was stalking the halls, his brothers at his sides. The Council members - the smart ones, anyway - began to realize that maybe William's words weren't such a bluff after all. Vidic and his group, on the other hand, began accusing William and Haytham of doing it, unable to feel the cold hand of Death that was currently running itself down everyone's spine. Beside him, Haytham called in his darker Jewels, swapping Green for Gray. Likewise, William did the same, flexing his Black web and putting a shield around them both, layering it twice for good measure.

His son was a mirror of him in matters of the heart, especially when it came to family. That was why William knew that when Desmond walked through the door, it would not be he alone that walked, but also the Incubus, Briarwood's ultimate monster, loyally shadowing its master. He knew that the others would have formed their own webs of power around Desmond, connecting themselves to him and anchoring him in their own ways. He could sense them now, the sway of their power slowly merging together to form one giant web both above and below, ready to catch Desmond if at any time he shattered.

Reaching out in greeting, he brushed against the barriers of his son's mind, and was almost instantly sucked in, the dark caress of his offspring's power a welcome touch after all that had gone on. *Father*

*My own. You seem well. I take it you left Marcella with a pleasant parting gift?*

*If it could be called that. I paid her dues in full. Shaun and Rebecca said they'd take care of the rest.*

*I see. And now what will you do?*

He felt rather than saw Desmond step inside the room, the air igniting with power. *Now I'm going to teach these whoring bastards not to fuck with the Shadow Order.*

William smiled and gracefully stepped back beside his children, patting both Ezio and Altair on the shoulders and kissing Connor on the forehead in greeting. Haytham did the same to his two boys as they merged their powers to the web, offering themselves up as they sat back to watch Desmond work, knowing that by the time all was said and done Vidic would probably be dead and the room would be a pile of ash.

Let it never be said Desmond Miles didn't know how to go out with a bang.

---------

Kind of a weak ending, but this feels like a good place to stop. This is all I have for right now, but given how large this universe is I may drabble more of it in the future. I'm uploading this to my A03 account as well, so I can keep the drabbles in one area.
What else... I don't think I ever really told the Jewel color of everyone, so here's a list of the mentioned peoples. Some weren't brought into detail here, but I already have headcanon Jewels for them.

Altair - Red descended to Black
Ezio - Sapphire descended to Ebon-Gray
Desmond - Green to Grey
Connor - Opal to Red
William - Uncut Red descended to uncut Black
Haytham - Uncut Sapphire descended to uncut Ebon-Gray
Maria - Purple Dusk to Sapphire
Sofia - Uncut Rose to Opal
Flavia - Summer-sky
Darim - Uncut Opal

Ziio didn't really have a Jewel in my headcanon, but I imagine she'd probably be pretty powerful, maybe around a Red or a Sapphire rank once she descended.

Anyhow, enough from me. I hope OP and whoever else is reading this enjoyed what I wrote. :)

OP here! Weak ending? Nah, it left it right where it needed to be - open for future musings but also complete as a stand-alone story. Of COURSE Connor is Dea al Mon - I like that he has a healing relationship with Haytham. There's still tension, but they consider each other and their emotional triggers. And victory for Desmond - he's almost Jaenelle in this situation, making it be known that he's not to be messed with and his clan isn't to be jerked around either.

Gosh, loved it from beginning to end. You have done a fantastic job, anon, you should feel proud of what you've written. I love it and thank you again.

When you said Desmond is almost like Jaenelle, I had a moment when I saw him dressed in those gowns of hers. It was a scary thought. XD

And thank you! I do feel proud; it was a good exercise for me, and I enjoyed writing it. So you're welcome.
