Second Fill - The Honey Moon - Part 29a/?

A/N: More writing before I pass out... nothing major going on. Also, I was always wondering who was putting up those assassin contracts in the recruit menu. So I thought maybe the Tallmadge family (since Benjamin's father was an Assassin) has a spy network that answered to Achilles who did not mention it to Connor because he wanted to go out and gather information on his own.


Both Connor and Stephane watched the - once secret - leader of their intelligence network, examined the piece of silver in rapt attention. Tallmadge turned the band around in his hands numerous times. His eyes studied every scratch and dent upon its metallic surface, as if hoping to decipher some hidden message.

"It is barely visible; but if you tilt the ring up, you should see an engraving on the inside," Connor pointed out helpfully after several minutes of uncomfortable silence.

Tallmadge threw the Master Assassin an exasperated - "Why didn't you tell me in the first place?" - look.

To which Connor gave the Spy Master a - "You never asked" - shrug of the shoulders.

Stephane merely coughed at the silent exchange before glancing over at the ring in the other man's hands.

"What does it say?"

"Non... nob.. dom..ne..." Tallmadge squinted. "The words are damn near illegible!"

"Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed Nomini Tuo da Gloriam."

Both heads swiveled back to Connor.

"'Not unto us,'" he translated from Latin, "'O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy and for thy truth's sake.'" The Assassin paused for a moment to take a sip of his ale, then frowned in distaste as he pushed it away. "I have read, that the Templar Order of the Holy Land, used this phrase during the Third Crusade."

Connor wondered if their present Colonial brothers did the same. He explained to the other men that none of the rings he had taken from Johnson, Pitcairn, or Hickey, had such an engravings on them. However, Tallmadge did not look so concerned and doubted it would have made much a difference. The ring appeared quite old and had much wear and tear to it. Perhaps an old heirloom passed from generations, from mentor to pupil, much like the Assassins' hidden blades.

"That ring could be our token of admittance. I would like you to hold on to it for me, Colonel." Connor nodded to Tallmadge. "Perhaps your and your associates can use it as a lure."

Hr had complete faith that Benjamin Tallmadge would find some information regarding their enemies current whereabouts.

"Very well. I will see what I can do." Once pocketing the trinket that belonged to their enemies, the mood lightened a little at their small table. "In the mean time, Connor, you should return to your Homestead for now."

The Omega bristled.

"I will not hide from my enemies."

Stephane, with his protective Alpha senses kicking in, began to protest; but the other seated beside him quickly intervened before the Wolf could chew his into his recruit.

"I'm not saying that you should. But do you not have a wedding to plan?"

Oh, that.

Lol, I love that last line. It's so Connor, to forget that he has a wedding to plan!

And I love the light banter here. They're all so happy (or at least not completely miserable) and alive and just awesome.

2. Get more kisses from George <3
3. Hunt and Kill Templars
4. Hunt and Kill Regulars
5. Hunt and Kill Animals
6. Recruit bonding time.
7. Yusuf bonding time.
8. Saiiiiiling
9. Achilles bonding time (unless he's cranky, switch to #10)
10. Homestead chores, mini games, conversations
11. Visit village and hang out with Kanon
12. What wedding... oh fu.....


And I love the light banter here. They're all so happy (or at least not completely miserable) and alive and just awesome.
