Fill: Who Will Save You Now? [10.5/?]
(Anonymous) 2013-05-15 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)Uncomfortably self-conscious he instinctively begins to shrink inwards, acutely aware that he has nowhere to hide now, other than behind himself. Some of the chill of the air seeps into his skin; he shivers.
'Don't hide.' Shifting, Haytham rubs a reassuring hand slowly over one of his arms in a comforting motion. Gently coaxing, he gradually draws him out of his defensive huddle. 'You're perfect.'
That's a word Connor has never had directed at him before. He's not really sure how to react to it, although certainly it does provoke a different sort of warmth in him that he may have to think about later. His idea of the definition must be a little off, that or it's just one of those things people say but don't fully mean.
Rather than questioning it however the teenager simply relaxes and opens up a little more, a little desperate as he pulls the man back to him. While he would have welcomed the speed and urgency of their earlier movements, his partner seems to have decided to start taking his time with him. Haytham's tongue is torturously slow as it plunders his willing mouth, body hovering rather than granting the pleasure of contact he craves yet. Every touch is deliberate, sensual. This approach soon has Connor just as undone as before, if not more, spine arching and head thrown back. He's almost entirely at the grandmaster's mercy, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
'You have no idea how many times I've thought about doing this to you.' Lips pressed close to his ear Haytham whispers, voice punctuated by his increasingly ragged breathing and small noises of pleasure.
Combined with the renewed and increased friction that is all it takes to nudge the Assassin over the edge. His senses all go black for a moment as the pleasure reaches its climax, a shudder running through him as his muscles tense then relax. While his memory of the exact moment is already hazy he is fairly sure he should feel embarrassed about it, his vocalness in particular. It's a little strange to realise that he is so very noisy in this sort of situation, he inwardly cringes. A few more thrusts of the hips and his partner finishes.
Instead of collapsing on top of him, although the novice wouldn't have entirely minded that, his companion drops at his side once done, breathing heavily. Hooking an arm around Connor's waist he tugs him closer. Mind still pleasantly at ease he unashamedly buries himself in the embrace, that same warmth spreading through him again. His heartbeat is only just starting to slow again. It would probably be easy enough to fall back to sleep now, his body and mind so entirely relaxed in the wake of their activity. He's sure that he has never felt quite so content and at peace as he does right now.
Belatedly he registers a hand stroking softly through his hair. Haytham sounds just as satisfied as he feels when he asks; 'Good?'
Purring in approval Connor nuzzles his hand. 'Good.'
Tangled together like this they are quite content to lie there, basking in the intimacy and afterglow, time slipping by unheeded. The world has narrowed down to just the two of them, all of the complications faded into the distance. Safe. Perfect. While most thoughts remain at bay, driven off by the warmth of the skin against his own and the calming caress of his companion, certain feelings have started to demand the novice's attention. He dares not allow them a name.
Eventually the need to separate, to move becomes undeniable. The stickiness on their stomaches is becoming irritating while the light falling into the cave is becoming brighter. Regardless of the morning's developments neither of them wants to spend another night down here in the damp and the cold.
Ultimately it is the grandmaster who sighs; 'We should be moving on, I fear.'
Reluctantly nodding in agreement, the teenager is nevertheless slow to sit up and relinquish the warmth of the man's arms. To move is to return to reality. The cold quickly begins to prickle anew at his exposed flesh, his sense of self-consciousness returning in a rush. Cleaning himself up with the blanket, which he feels they probably no longer have any particular need for, the Assassin dresses swiftly and tries not to be so keenly aware of his companion's presence. As he is pulling his trousers back on a spike of pain abruptly shoots up one leg. Lack of use during the night seems to have made the sprain worse, stiffness only adding to the discomfort. Not a problem, he tells himself, it will pass.
Once dressed he rests the foot, leaning against the wall of the cave, arms crossed, to watch-not-watch Haytham as he rearms himself. When the Templar's hidden blade is back in place, released and checked some of that old sense of wariness and apprehension returns to him. The skill and familiarity with which the weapon is handled is undeniable, not for the first time Connor wonders how he came to possess something so closely associated with the Brotherhood. He has a feeling that he doesn't really want to know. Insecurity growing, his fingers itch for the comfort of his own. But then his companion retracts the blade and turns to look at him, the lack of actual threat in his demeanour prompting that feeling to rapidly fade away. This could be indicative of a serious problem.
Burying that deep down, to be worried about later in private, he gives a small smile in return. 'Think you can handle the climb this time?'
'Believe me, I am in no hurry to repeat yesterday's swim.' His eyes trail down, taking in the somewhat awkward way the novice is holding one foot. 'Now, whether you can manage it is another matter entirely.'
'It is not that bad.' Frowning the teenager stalks over to him, in an attempt to better prove his point. Just as persistent and noticeable as ever, the limp rather undermines the intended effect however. Irked, he resorts to a glare and insists; 'I have managed with worse.'
Judging by his expression Haytham remains unconvinced. As if he hadn't been the one repeatedly traipsing up and down that same accursed cliff-face only the day before. That last climb had been an unpleasant one, the injury had made it harder, but the Assassin is hardly about to admit to that. Stubbornness can, after all, be a wonderful asset. His sprain will not slow them down, he will not let it, so there is really nothing to be worrying about. Further discussion on the matter is pointless, they both know that climbing is the only viable option for leaving the cave. Still, he senses the approach of an argument and rather than wasting time on that decides to opt for a slightly different tactic.
Without warning he abruptly reaches up and pulls the man into a kiss. He can't exactly waste words arguing if his mouth is otherwise occupied. And if this is a distraction that they both enjoy then so much the better. Connor quickly loses what little dominance he had from having been the initiator as his companion enthusiastically responds, although he relinquishes to the elder's control quite happily. A small hum of satisfaction escapes him at the feel of the strong pair of arms wrapping back round his body.
Pulling back only slightly Haytham mumbles. 'Don't think that you can sway me so easily.'
He sighs, only a little disappointed by this outcome. 'There is no other way. Unless you are suggesting that I go jump in the ocean?'
'Hmm...' The grandmaster glances out at the waves as if he is actually considering it. Connor considers pushing him in before he can try. 'Tempting as that may be, it would be somewhat counter-productive.'
Connor flushes, narrowing his eyes. 'Obviously.'
It's an almost affectionately knowing look that Haytham shoots him in response. A hand brushes across his skin and he wishes that they didn't have to leave quite so soon. In this moment the novice is acutely, painfully aware of the fact that outside of this private space he is not allowed to want this. He needs to get a grip, he needs to remember just what is at stake here and where his loyalties truly lie.
Mentally shaking himself the Assassin turns away and quickly sets to work attacking the climb. Fortunately he discovers a rather less vertical route, created by a couple of minor rocky plateaus and a mildly troublesome slope up to the crest. Patches of ice still coat the cliff-face while an even deeper layer of snow now lies over the ground. Just as predicted his one less-than-fully-functional limb complicates matters, but he bites the inside of his cheek and does his best to ignore it. They both make it to the mercifully flat land of the cliff-top without particular incident, pausing briefly in the shadow of Necessity's wooden walls to take stock. After the intimate confines of the cave it feels slightly wrong to be so out in the open again.
Instinctively the grandmaster retakes the lead when they move off, walking only a step or two ahead and shooting regular glances over his shoulder. Rolling his eyes Connor follows, fully alert, watching out for the least trace of red through the trees as they skirt the flank of the fort. It seems unlikely that there will be further snowfall today so there should be at least some form of perimeter patrol out at large in the woodland. Providing the troops are not still busy ensconcing themselves away from the wind, the chill and the gulls, that is. Regardless, he is fairly confident that they will be able to leave the area without being sighted.
And they do. Even once the pair reach the clearer ground of the roads they manage to avoid encountering any soldiers. After everything else this feels almost too easy, but sometimes the odds have to work in their favour. As much as Connor is relieved he is a little disappointed. With every dragging step of his their imminent parting of ways draws closer. There is no obvious or legitimate reason for them to remain together for the time being, not with the mission to assassinate Braddock on hold as it is. He needs to return to the homestead and report back to the Brotherhood while Haytham has his fledgling Templar group to attend to. In spite of the necessity he does worry that as soon as he lets the grandmaster out of his sight things could go horribly wrong. There is no telling what could happen in the days between now and their next meeting; there might not even be a next meeting.
After what feels like hours they come to the outskirts of a town. As safe as it's ever going to be, the fugitive mode drops. Connor finally allows himself to rest, sinking onto the first mostly-dry tree stump he finds with thinly-disguised relief. Regardless of that earlier optimism his ankle is refusing to be anything less than a pain; he is having trouble moving nearly as lightly or quickly as usual, off-balance even on easier ground. Tree-running is certainly out for the near future... A break in the clouds overhead bathes the clearing in soft winter sunlight while the distant sounds of civilisation float into hearing. He sighs, closing his eyes and trying not to think of how long it will take him to get anywhere in this condition.
'Come to Boston.'
Caught off guard by the abruptness of the request he looks up to meet the quietly beseeching gaze head on. This is not an eventuality he is prepared for. If anything he had thought it would be he who would make any such plea against parting. What he finds worrying him is not that his immediate answer would be 'yes', that he would willingly agree to go unprepared into the lair of the Templars, but rather that he is obliged to say 'no'. Regardless of what he may want, agreeing is entirely out of the question, at least until he has spoken with Achilles. He can only imagine the consequences.
Looking away, his shoulders nevertheless slump. 'The others will have started to worry, I have been gone too long...'
'Kidnapped by more slavers no doubt.' Haytham interrupts, expression unreadable.
'Or dead after diving heedlessly into the ocean like a fool.' Frustrated, with any number of things really, the Assassin pushes himself roughly back to his feet. The implication of incompetence stings.
'Or perhaps incapacitated by slipping on a patch of ice.' He shoots back, a corner of his mouth twitching upwards.
Biting back a growl Connor flushes slightly, already very well aware of the ridiculousness of his injury. It is hardly as if he can rebut that first count either, without explaining that he meant to be captured thank you very much. That had all been part of the plan which the arrival of Haytham and his fellow Templars had disturbed so spectacularly. Still, his annoyance soon ebbs. With a begrudging sigh he crosses his arms and puts it aside.
'If we are to be successful in ambushing the expedition we will need to plan out attack. Give me a few days, I will come and find you.' He only hopes that a few days will be enough to convince the other Assassins that he hasn't gone completely mad.
This promise appears to satisfy the grandmaster at least, his eyes practically lighting up with the assurance. 'See that you do. Look for the Green Dragon, I'll be waiting.'
Ah, of course, the Green Dragon. Courtesy of the Brotherhood's replenished network of spies in the city he already knows of the place. All of them do. Keen, watchful eyes are kept trained on that particular, unassuming establishment at all hours of the day. It hadn't taken so very long for Yvette and the others to find it, although doing so without raising any suspicions had been tricky. Although if the Templars had already started looking for them in return they would not prove so lucky. While the Assassins had been enjoying a considerable period of relative peace until very recently they had still taken pains to remain in the shadows. The advantage is clearly on their side, not least with the information that Connor has managed to gather and the bond he has already formed with the unsuspecting grandmaster. It all appears simple, a virtually foregone conclusion.
Yet, when the novice looks at his companion now he sees it; the unmistakable tinge of an aura that is coloured a bright blue.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-29 10:27 am (UTC)(link)I wonder, if Haytham is starting to show blue to Connor, what did Connor show at first for Haytham?
Eagerly awaiting the next part!
