OK, so we've gotten plenty of prompts for this pairing, but I just thought I'd throw in some interesting cultural background (not vouching for accuracy here!).

The Native American cultures tended to laud homosexuality in the concept of a "two-spirit", where someone assumes the a third gender identity by embodying the spirits of both a man and a woman. The Iroquois (of which the Mohawk were one of five tribes) lauded the practice and the "two-spirited" were revered as healers and shamans of a sort, often cross-dressing and participating in public ceremonies. Although, it seems that eastern North American tribes did not promote it as much as other tribes, likely because of concentrated colonization there.

Connor doesn't have the androgyny that fits the bill, but Wiki reports that it can also be for two harmonized opposites in the same person, either of human spirit or animal spirit. We saw the Connor's animal spirit was an eagle, and it's in keeping w/the AC series. And ironically, the top site for animal spirits from google (dubious source aside) says that Coyote wisdom includes: "Understanding that all things are sacred--yet nothing is sacred." That seems to parallel the Assassin's Creed fairly well to me!

Given the pervasive and opposing fear and rejection of sodomy amongst white cultures - taken to be a crime and sin - I'd love to see how Haytham being repressed, struggling under the burden of forbidden feelings and a desire to tame and temper the wildness of his son.

In my mind's eye for a scene, I have Haytham wounded by the fireside, being tended to by Connor, and seeing a different softer side of him in the flickering fire, like a shadow of Ziio. Or maybe he is in the midst of a fever dream which he falls in and out of? maybe he says a little too much, about how fond he is of Connor?

you can either make it gen or slash, fluff or smut, any way you want to go with it!

Christ, I defy anyone to provide a fill half as eloquent as the OP's prompt; but I'd love to give this one a shot. No promises, and I highly encourage others to tackle this in my stead.
