Welcome to the New Age - Part 18/???

Yes Haytham you are always doomed to fail plans, guess it’s just all the bad luck that came with Washington’s control of the Apple. Anons we are approaching the last few parts, I can’t say how many updates it will take before the end, but everything is close to being wrapped up. Thanks for coming along for the ride and I really enjoyed writing out this filling this prompt. Thank you for the constant amazing reviews!

***

Connor wishes he could say he was glad to be back.

But to say that would mean he would have to ignore the fact that surrounding bay had now been blockaded by an impenetrable wall of ships, that Achilles discussed their next move in secrecy to Kanen'tó:kon alone, that he had been confined to his room by the old man even when he had discussed his displeasure of being kept in the dark. He glared at the locked door with fury even though he knew that once the two were done talk the door would be unlocked once more, allowing him to go where ever he wanted to again. However he they would never answer his questions about what should be done next, about how they should deal with Washington’s forces that remained upon the water. It also didn’t help that Connor was not allowed to leave the house to discuss matters with the surrounding homestead residents, nor was he to even show them that he was alive. Achilles said it was better for them to be as ignorant as possible, just in case Washington attempted to extort the information from them with the Apple. The few days only grew worse when the homestead received another unexpected arrival who had to be kept away from him at all costs.

Charles Lee.

When he opened the door only to be greeted with the loathed man’s face he tackled him onto the icy steps in front if the manor, pleased when he heard his head bang against the ground. No sooner that they had fallen however he felt hands grip his shoulders as Kanen'tó:kon pulled him off from Charles, hissing in anger as he watched the man stand up and brush the snow off of his coat.

“What a fine welcome this is.” He said stuffily as he raised a hand to touch the back of his head, wincing from what would probably form into a bump. Good.

“What are you doing here?” Connor snapped as he shrugged his friend’s hands off of him, glaring at Lee.

“Well I did come bearing news from Haytham on Washington. He has sent a fleet of ships for you-” He started and Connor cut him off quickly in annoyance.

“Did you not notice the massive ships that have squeezed themselves into our bay? Or were you blinded by your need to please my father?” Lee narrowed his eyes and Connor nearly smirked in satisfaction when he realized he struck a chord.

“I didn’t come here to make petty arguments with you boy.” Charles responded lowly as he stared down at him. “I came to warn you, even if I was a tad too late I can assure you I didn’t come here just to get a rise out of you.” He sighed and tried to relax his shoulders but failed miserably. “Haytham hopefully has snuck aboard one of the ships and should be working his way through them to dispatch the fleet or maybe even Washington himself. I suggest we wait until he does so or gives a a signal that he needs help in doing so.”

“What kind of a signal would he send?” Kanen'tó:kon questioned from behind Connor. He couldn’t believe this! How could his friend believe Charles Lee, a snake of a man? The man who had seen him imprisoned in Washington’s hold because he worked for the tyrant king. Who knew that he wasn’t here on Washington’s orders either? He growled, wishing he had his tomahawk or hidden blades instead of nothing but his fists. He hated to admit it but if they got into a fight Charles would easily win with how weak he was. Even with all his strength he still wasn’t as great as Charles was in hand-to-hand combat.

“That is something I don’t know. It could be one of the ships in the harbor firing upon it’s brothers, a ship catching fire from below decks, just something completely out of the ordinary.” Charles answered as he pushed past him, making him snarl lightly in anger. This man deserved little if not any of their help and he wasn’t about to just listen to the fox’s tongue with hissed nothing but lies.

“Connor.” Achilles was looking at him from the bottom of the stairs, with that look on his face that made him growl lightly. He was getting sent up to his room while that man was here? No, he wouldn’t do it.

“No.” Connor frowned angrily as the old man’s face hardened, “I will not.”

“This isn’t open for discussion, boy. Now go upstairs to your room!” He demanded fiercely, making Connor take a step back in slight fright.

“Not while that man is in this house.” Connor hissed after a moment as Achilles sighed.

“You must be a fool if you thought I am actually planning to let this man stay inside the house, knowing that you would destroy half of it in the fight you will most obviously start. He will discuss just what he is here for in detail to me and once he is finished Kanen'tó:kon will escort him to his home on the property where he shall remain until this mess is sorted out.” Achilles stated as gently as he could, a flash of worry crossing his face as he watched Connor wobbly lightly. His body still wasn’t used to standing up on its own let alone ready to walk, making him sigh lightly in frustration and sadness. It seemed like he was never going to be able to get back to how he had been before what happened. He knew that recuperation was a long and slow process--it had been that way even with the smallest of cuts--was he expected to just wait years for his body to get better? He frowned as he headed upstairs, Achilles trailing right behind him before he entered his room quietly. He tried not to hear the sound of the door shutting and locking behind him, but his mind wouldn’t let him ignore it. He went over to his window, peering out of it to look at Washington’s fleet that rested in the harbor, their masts leaving shadows that looked akin to claws that stretched across the water. Connor sat down and continued to watch out the window, observing the crew of the Aquila move around along the docks in their normal routine. Because of the constant sending to his room Connor had quite a lot of time to watch just how the crew of the Aquila move around, noticing that they had a very uniform like way they went about each day. The steps were always the same as they wore down a line into the dirt from where they walked, each foot falling in exactly the same place each day, that same monotone like pace.

The footfalls echoing in his very mind as the emptiness of their eyes bore into him.

Connor blinked in shock as he felt his heart seize up in panic at the sudden memory that assaulted him, making him look away from the dock. He nearly screamed in frustration, was he really going to let things like that remind him of his time in the palace? Was he really going to let Washington’s memory cling to him like a tick and haunt him through every waking moment? The tyrant already had free reign over his dreams, making him twist and turn in an effort to somehow wake up and escape only to have his eyes remain open for no less than a few moments before being dragged back into the nightmare that awaited him. He was free of that man! He shouldn’t have to remain awake in the dead of night, curling up in his blankets to give himself the illusion of comforting arms. He had escaped and his mind should be free as his body had been, not still in the same shackles he had spent a whole torturous year in. He wonders if maybe it was the Apple’s influence upon his mind for those four years, although he hadn’t been awake the it still had possessed his mind, perhaps these were the effects that happened for being controlled for so long.

He looked down as he picked at the edge of the windowsill, confused and upset now. He wished he could talk to Achilles about these feelings or something, but the old man was too busy to be bothered by such trivial matters right now. Glancing back outside he watched the water of the bay that swayed back and forth in between the cliff walls. He noticed the rippling of the water before he spotted the small rowboat making it’s way to shore and the gathering of the Aquila crew among the docks. He squinted his eyes trying to see the figures inside the rowboat, only able to make out what looked like four people. Two were soldiers, he knew because the colors of their uniforms had become ingrained upon his skull, but the others were too far away to know. He heard the front door of the manor open and he watched in surprise as Lee, Achilles and Kanen'tó:kon moved to the edge of the cliff to watch the rowboat dock by the Aquila and the occupants get out. He heard murmuring from the trio below him as they walked back inside the house, their voices taking on a tone of worry, which didn’t bode well in Connor’s gut. He watched as the forms that had boarded the rowboat settle upon horses that had been given to them by the crewmen before they rode up the trail to the homestead. Connor moved back into his room and began to pace, his breathing catching in his throat anxiously as he wondered just who had arrived on shore. He froze when he heard the front door open once more as Achilles let the strange men inside without a fight making him twitch in trepidation. The awkward silence that descended upon the house made him shift in uncomfortableness as he leaned against the door, trying to catch anything from the conversation downstairs. When he was greeted with nothing he stepped back in anger. That was enough, he was tired of being left in the dark and if his friends were in trouble he would never forgive himself for not being able to help. He looked at the door for a moment before he grimaced, there was no way he could push that door with what little strength he had. Besides even if he did there was no telling what would happen to his friends, if they had muskets pointed at them they’d be dead before he’d even get to the staircase. His gaze fell upon the window as he continued to look for a way out and gulped, the only way to get to Achilles and Kanen'tó:kon silently would be having to climb down the edge of the mansion. Sure he was only on the second floor and the fall wasn’t too bad, however there was no telling what his body would do when it came in contact with the ground.

He took a deep breath before he cracked open the window, taking a long moment to ease himself out of the threshold and grip the edge. His arms screamed in protest as he lowered himself down, biting his lip in pain as his feet desperately searched for the windowsill below to brace his feet upon. When he found it he nearly let his hands slip from the edge he clung to, making his adrenaline rush for a moment. He took a second to catch his breath before he lowered himself down completely, his hands taking ahold of the top of the next window as his feet reached down and touched the ground. He sighed in relief, shaking slightly as the doubts that had entered his mind when he began to descend left. He ducked down below the windows as he crept along the side of the building and to the back door. He quietly opened it, before peeking inside, the sounds of hushed voices reaching his ear. He moved inside the house before shutting the door behind him, sneaking through the kitchen and to the living room where the voices grew louder.

“I will make no such deal!” Achilles snapped suddenly and furiously, making Connor jump back in surprise, catching himself before he stumbled back into the jars of preserved food. Leaning against the wall he continued to listen in on the ongoing conversation.

“Achilles please think about this.” That was Haytham’s voice, making him raise his eyebrows in surprise. Had Haytham already taken care of business so fast and so stealthily. He felt however his blood turn to ice when the next voice spoke.

“I can understand your hesitance in the trade, considering Haytham is not particularly an amazing offer. However I can throw this into the mix as well, I shall leave the Homestead unharmed instead of burning it to the ground.” Washington’s voice nearly trigged the nightmares that were hiding inside his head, tearing at the confines Connor wrapped them up in when he was awake. He hadn’t expected the tyrant to get so close to him again and so soon either, he felt his body relax when he heard Achilles’ voice once more.

“We can survive. You can keep Haytham and your offer, you will not have Connor back.” Achilles responded, not bothering to hide the anger that seeped into his tone. The old man was incredibly brave.

“Or I can kill you. It won’t take much you old fool, I was trying to be diplomatic, even save you from suffering, but it seems that you like to spit in my face.” He heard the lowering of muskets and he jumped out from his hiding spot before he even knew what he was doing.

“Wait.” He started quietly, surprised with how much he felt himself shrink when Washington’s gaze focused on him. It felt like his breath had been stolen from him when the two locked eyes for a moment, frozen in that spot by his glare. He only felt his breath return when he shifted his eyes to the ground. “I will go with you, in return for the safety of the homestead and the residents along with my father.” He bargained quietly, expecting to be bound in chains once the words left his mouth, until that was Kanen'tó:kon snarled and moved in front of him, making him look up..

“You shall not have him again! Nor shall you kill the innocents who live here and Haytham.” His friend threatened his arm stretched out and pushed him back, away from the scene as Kanen'tó:kon focused Washington’s frigid gaze upon himself. He heard Charles cough softly before the man decided to speak up, looking at everyone before he spoke.

“May I perhaps offer another suggestion?”

Yeah Connor, listen to Charles. Anything's better than going back to Washington. You won't survive another session with him, hun. ):

So glad that Achilles and Kanen'tó:kon is there to keep Connor from doing anything rash.

...actually, anon is kinda surprised Washington didn't use the Apple to make them all give Connor up.

Does this mean he's at his limits in terms of how much he can use the Apple?

Also can't wait to see what Charles's plan is.

OP LOVES YOU!

(Anonymous) 2013-01-07 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
Also surprised Washington didn't use the apple but as the above anon said, maybe it is at it's limits for control or maybe Washington doesn't want to risk these rebels stealing his other treasured item from him. Oh, I'm dying to know Charles' suggestion... if Washington plans on letting him talk, he must know that Charles has been working against him by now.

Charles what is your plan? I want to know!!

And I don't know why, but Achilles going "Go to your room, Connor!" made me laugh. Even though Haytham is Connor's biological father, so many people tend to ignore the fact that Achilles was the one who took up the role of being Connor's parent.

Anyways, I gotta say that you've made me like Charles a bit more as well. He might be a scumbag at times, but at least he knows when to not be one. XD

(I'm also curious about why Washington didn't use the apple to control them.)

Charles’ suggestion isn’t that amazing, sorry anons. This chapter addresses just why Washington didn’t choose the most obvious and easiest solution of them all. I’m sorry for any mistakes I missed and I hope you all enjoy! Thank you for the reviews!

***

When Lee had opened his mouth Connor could have killed them right there. His suggestion, if one could even call the idiotic idea that, was to leave the terms of agreement as is, which meant Connor for Haytham. He really should’ve of known Lee wouldn’t let Washington take away his father, after all that bond between the two of them ran extremely deep, however as of late he was still surprised the man would do so even after the knowledge of just what happened during Connor’s imprisonment. That is until Charles suggested turning their trade into a bet. The Aquila would face off against Washington’s fleet, who ever was defeated would hand over the spoils to the victor. Normally he would’ve jumped at the chance to lead the Aquila into battle to destroy the tyrant’s fleet, however Washington jumped in before Connor had even a chance to find his voice.

“Connor will not be Captain. He will stay ashore with Haytham under my guards watch, those are my conditions.” He had stated simply and before Connor could snap in protest Achilles had quietly agreed. He silently sputtered, trying to think of something he could say to combat the situation even as Achilles said Faulkner would captain the ship and that Kanen'tó:kon would accompany him. No, no, no! This wasn’t how it was supposed to be, this wasn’t how everything was going to go, he wasn’t going to let his crew get slaughtered by Washington’s fleet without him being there to help defend it. He growled in fury when he watched the tyrant smirk in pleasure before he got up and grabbed his arm. The whole room froze as Washington pulled him against his chest making him lock eyes with terrifying blues ones, stiffening further when a hand came up to cup his chin.

“I’ve been terribly lonely.” Washington grinned lightly as his hand reached up to tangle in his hair. He glanced to the side when he realized he heard nothing, no one had moved from their spots to help him, to get Washington away from him. Their eyes were locked onto him however just like the blank eyes of the soldiers had, burning into his back as a hand tightened it’s hold on his arm making him look back at the horrible face before him.

“It isn’t polite to get distracted when someone speaks to you.” Washington tutted as he leaned in, placing his lips to Connor’s ear before whispering softly. “I’ll have you back before the sun has fallen, today. We can make up for all that time we missed.” A hand trailed down his back, lingering on his hip for a moment before he moved away. Then he was gone, the nightmare had pushed out the door leaving the members of the house still frozen to their spots. Connor was the first one to move, pulling his hood up and over his head, to hide his fright-filled eyes from the rest of the group.

“Connor-” Achilles had started quietly before he cut him off with a hand.

“I am fine.” He caught a glimpse of the soldiers Washington had left behind as they lowered their muskets. So that’s why they didn’t move to aid him. He realizes that their purpose for being left behind was probably to make sure Haytham and he remained at the manor so the winner could claim their prize once the battle had concluded.

He nearly was sick in disgust.

A low snarl nearly made him jump with a start, looking over to the place of the sound seeing that it was Kanen'tó:kon who had uttered it. His eyes flashed with understanding, so he knew now. It wasn’t like he could keep the truth from him forever, but still Connor wished he had some naivety left that would have helped him remained ignorant.

“I will kill him.” He promised nearly making Connor laugh.

“No promises.” He spat out as he moved to turn away until the harsh command of one of the soldiers told him to stop.

“You shall remain here in our custody until the King has stated otherwise. The rest of you get out.” One moved from Haytham’s side before coming to him, forcing him to sit down in the remaining chair. He felt a hand on his shoulder and looked over to see the sad face of Achilles.

“Don’t worry, Connor we will make sure that you are kept safe.” He quietly murmured a thank you, even though what Achilles said was more than likely a lie he was comforted by it before he turned and left, following the others. No sooner that he had heard the front door open and shut did Haytham begin to bark with laughter, making him glare at the man angrily.

“I can’t believe that actually worked.” Haytham was grinning like a madman as he leaned back in his seat. Now that he was able to get a good look at the man he realized that the man’s face was incredibly swollen, red with dried blood and purple with bruises.

“What happened-” He began in confusion at the sight of his father’s face, sighing--which looked incredibly strange on him looking the way he did--he explained.

“Well the man’s temper was extinguished upon my face obviously. My face’s awkwardness shouldn’t be the topic of our discussion right now.” Haytham grumbled as he leaned back in his seat. “What I should be discussing is the plan that hopefully Charles understood, or even Achilles.” Connor tilted his head, since when did Haytham explain a plan to them? Surely not in front of Washington or his guards or else they would have known.

“I did it with motions, Connor.” He started as he glanced down to his bound hands, making him follow with his eyes. “I tried mouthing at first, but the swollen portion on my cheeks prevented an accurate telling of information. So I made the shape of an L with my fingers,” He point his thumb and pointer fingers outwards while the others remained in a tight fist, creating the L, “Before I counted out a number.” He formed his hands back in a fist before slowly putting each one out. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. “ Which they hopefully realized I was telling them just which ship is Washington’s. The fifth down starting from the left side of the bay.”

“What are they going to do with-” Connor paused as he glanced at the eyes of the mindless men around him, if they started speaking one of them could tell Washington.

“They can’t do anything about it.” Haytham interjected as he caught onto Connor’s worry. “All they can do is stand guard. Washington can’t read their minds to know of what I set in motion.”

“. . . . . .What are our allies going to do with the information you gave them then? Just because they know what ship Washington is on does not erase the fact that they have an entire fleet to face.” Connor admits that while he had won dire naval battles before didn’t mean it he nearly lost as well. Faulkner was an incredible sailor, but Connor doubted that even his first mate could get out of a situation such as this. He slumped back in his seat as he awaited his father’s response.

“Hopefully they’ll think of something, or perhaps get incredibly lucky. However I think they’ll manage because Washington’s scared.” The smirk that spread across his lips was malicious, his eyes were full of cunning and twisting ploys, it did little to comfort.

“Why is he scared? Does it not mean that he will be extra careful in this battle? Giving us less of a chance?” He questioned lightly as he frowned when his father chuckled.

“He is not scared that he will lose, in that area of his mind he is already throwing a celebration at the defeat of your allies. That arrogance will more than likely be the end of him and hopefully put a stop to him during the battle. No, he is terrified because he believes the Apple’s power is dying.” Connor blinked in shock.

“Is the Apple losing power?” He asked lightly, a tad worried that it might actually not be the case, letting his hopes of Washington losing his kingdom, his army, his darkness get crushed by the actual truth.

“No, as far as I can tell the Apple has an infinite supply of energy. Well, so we think. But tell me this if Washington wasn’t worried about the artifact wouldn’t he just possess everyone on the homestead and have you brought to him?” Haytham looked genuinely surprised that Connor might actually believe Washington had truly wanted to be diplomatic, or at least give them a shot at fighting him off.

“Well I did not think really anything of it.” He answered truthfully, feeling his heart sink at his father’s scoff.

“The reason Washington hasn’t turned the homestead residents into his personal monkeys was because he had first used the Apple on us.”

“Us?” Connor asked once again perplexed by Haytham’s explanation. Was he talking about all those years ago when Washington had kept him under control? How was that supposed to scare him? The Apple had worked, subjecting him to Washington’s command for all those years, if anything that helped him.

“Yes. When we were on the ship he tried to use the Apple on me, so I could infiltrate the homestead as a ‘friend’ before stealing you back. However when he used it on me I merely remained frozen in place is all, the Apple could not effect my mind as it did the others in his army. I suppose that is because of certain ancestors in my family heritage who had such capabilities as well. Washington gave up on me and then tried to do it on you, I’m guessing you were either asleep when it happened or you didn’t really pay it much mind at the time.” He paused looking at him closely, the experience Haytham was speaking about easily poked itself out at him. He had been cooking dinner at the time, helping Achilles prepare the meat for that night’s stew when he had suddenly seized up, barely able to breath. He had first blown the feeling off when he had felt his body return to normal, simply summing up the experience as a flashback to his captivity. He glanced up as Haytham continued speaking. “When you didn’t come running Washington gave up and put the Apple away before happily beating in my face, taking out his nervousness on me. We are incredibly lucky that he only tried to use the Apple on us for if he tried it on anyone else not only would we be in a more, complicated situation, everyone else would probably be dead already.”

Although his father’s answer should have cleared up any confusion he felt it left him with more questions than answers. “But Washington used the Apple on me before while I was in his custody, why wouldn’t it work now?”

“I was wondering if you ask me that. Our body’s can be manipulated by the Apple in the way that they freeze up, but never our minds. When Washington began raving about the Apple and you it sounded as if he tried to use the Apple to control your mind however you were unconscious at the time, so in response the Apple just kept you unconscious through out the duration he used its ‘influence’ upon you. He had believed it to be mind control, which inevitably worked to our advantage with him believing the Apple to be losing power. I don’t know what he plans on doing now, but perhaps his paranoia will get the best of him, believing that at any moment the soldiers under his command could turn against him. It will be much easier for him to slip up now.” Haytham finished as he leaned back in his chair, a lazy smirk spreading across his lips. “All we must do now is wait.”

Connor slumped back in his seat feeling no more positive than he had before. So he was never really under the command of the Apple the entire time, he had just been, in essence, truly asleep. He supposes that’s better than being turned into one of Washington’s brainless puppets after all however that didn’t mean he was completely free of the artifact. The idea of his body being turned into something completely helpless and vulnerable frightened him, the thought of being bound without chains. He heard himself scoff, he was already bound now, his body completely useless to his whims, no longer able to do anything he could before. This is the worse fate.

“Son.” He glanced up when Haytham spoke softly, concern in his eyes. “While I realize we are still and will probably remain enemies for the rest of time I want you to know that I’m sorry. It was stupid of me to decide to leave you, a mere foolish child, in such conditions for as long as I did. I will not apologize for my course of action by trying to steal the Apple first, as was my original intent, instead of you because that would have made sure all of what is happening now avoided. However I will admit that not even my worst enemy deserved such a cruel fate that was given to you behind Washington’s palace walls. No fully grown man could handle what you went through, and you, barely a boy and far from being a young man, pulled through very strongly. It is incredible, and while I’m disappointed that you will more than likely never become a Templar once you recover I have no doubt that you will become a great Assassin. Just make sure that you don’t get it my way, because I’ll still kill you.” He fell quiet for a moment, seeming to be considering how to put into words what he wanted to say. “I do not expect to be forgiven for my actions, nor do I care to be. I just wanted you to know that if there was anything I had planned to do to be rid of you it was certainly and never would be this.”

Connor let out a laugh as Haytham finished his confession, wiping away the tears from his eyes as he fell into quiet chuckling. Although his father had just admitted that it was extremely possible that he would be killing him in the future and had been planning to for sometime, he was grateful for his honesty. In fact he was thankful that his father wasn’t trying to manipulate him with kindness like before and sway him over to the Templar cause through deception. He was just being cranky, old Haytham Kenway who acted like a bratty child when things didn’t go his way and boasted so smugly when he did. It was a man that he knew just what to expect from, a man he could trust.

“I forgive you.”

OP LOVES YOU!

I cannot believe Washington had the gall to molest Connor in front of Kanen'tó:kon, Achilles and Haytham. I'm kind of surprised Kanen'tó:kon did not figure out Connor's role in Washington's palace when the latter was molesting him in the throne room... but he definitely knows now.

I loved the ending of this chapter with Connor forgiving Haytham in the end, really want to see more father-son bonding time; and perhaps Haytham, Achilles and Kanen'tó:kon can help Connor recover both physically and emotionally.

...is it bad that I kinda want Connor to get his vengeance on Washington?

Love Haytham's plan, though. Hopefully Washington will uphold his end of the deal and let Connor go free.

And, maybe with time, Connor will heal?

I'm a horrible person . . . but I kind of want Washington to win. At least for the moment, as I don't want the story to end so soon. :D

I am also horrible for wanting more WashCon... and thinking even though the Aquila is victorious (because it's the Aquila and the crew has more reason to fight now that they know their Captain's fate is on the line), Washington won't keep his word and will still try to snatch Connor away.

Another terrible person reporting in. Because I'd also like to see a bit more WashCon, however brief. >.>

In any case, I doubt Washington will uphold his end of the bargain. At this point he's not someone who would play fair, especially if his fleet could decimate the entire Homestead in moments. And after all those years of having the Apple, I'm sure he'll give it another go at seeing if he's really losing control over the common people.

But I look forward to whatever direction you decide to take fill!anon. Thanks for updating so consistently and frequently!

Even MORE horrible anon commenting saying that they would perfer if Washington did win at this part too. This anon would also love to see an apple controlled Connor having sex with Washington and moaning like a puppet for him. (But that's neither here nor there) We are horrible people >_<

I was going to update tonight with the next part however I just saw above Anon's comment and since the last update will probably include-SPOILERS-the last shot of Washcon I want to redo it to include Connor moaning like a puppet and make it 100 times better. So hold on anons! Just a little longer!

All right Anons I have not changed the way that story will end so it’s still going to be very soon however I did push it back a bit so I could squeeze in one last shot of WashCon (things are getting really busy here because of several incidents--nothing that needs worry--so I want to finish the story before I get so busy I won’t have anytime to work on it). I know there’s lots of things the Apple can do however because Washington really lacks the knowledge on how to use it and exactly what it can do I think he’d seriously underestimate its overall capabilities. And unlike Altair who used the Apple to unlock knowledge I just think he would ignore that and only use it in ways that would help him get what he wants, which right now is Connor back. Sorry about mistakes once more I don’t to delay this next update any longer. Thank you all for reviewing! (Also sorry but I couldn’t end up doing the Washington forcing Connor to moan thing even though I said I would, unexpected slab leak stopped me. Curse you bad pipes!)

***

When night fell upon the homestead the sounds of cannon fire and the screams of dying men had still not pierced the air. Connor sat in the chair, a fidgeting mess as he anxiously awaited to know the outcome of the sea battle that was still awaiting to take place. Haytham had tried to explain to him that the Aquila had probably declared its desire to have a day to prepare for the following morning, but it did little to soothe his shuddering heart. He wished the soldiers would let him go to the window to peer down into the bay, but the only movement they allowed was shifting in his seat. He tapped his foot against the ground in a fast beat as he stared down at his hands, quietly thinking of what he could do to escape should the plan fail. He heard Haytham grunt irritatedly across from him and he mumbled a soft apology. The man had expressed his desire to sleep due to the lack of it when he was aboard Washington’s and had complained three times already about his ‘incessant foot-banging’. How could the man be so relaxed when their fates hung in the balance of a greatly skewed bet? Then again Haytham didn’t await the same torture he did, he didn’t and never would feel those cruel hands grip him so tightly they left bruises for months upon his thighs and arms. Slumping back in his seat he supposed he should get some rest at least, even if it was only for a few minutes. It would clear his head and hopefully give him a leg up on thinking of a plan on how to escape should things go sour. He rested his eyes gently and before he could even think about relaxing he was asleep, into the cold darkness of his dreams.

The soft creak that sounded upon the loose floorboard in the kitchen was nearly inaudible, however it was enough to rouse Connor out of his short sleep. His spine stiffened as he heard the light sound of boots upon wood behind him and for a moment hoped that it was the soldier getting something to eat from the kitchen. His body seized up before he could even think to spring out of his seat and away from the man sneaking in. The Apple’s power made sure he didn’t even try, feeling a hand grab his hood before pulling it down.

“Should you not be on your ship?” Connor felt himself asking before he even knew what he was saying. There was a low chuckle behind him before Washington moved in front.

“I am.” His voice was barely above that of a whisper as he leaned down and picked him up, adjusting them to where he Washington has now sitting in his seat while he sat upon his lap. He opened his mouth to protest but his throat tightened instead letting out a trembling breath as Washington’s lips found his exposed neck.

“The Apple allows me to create clones of myself, I only recently discovered it. Allowing me to be in two places at once.” He grinned against his skin, pulling down Connor’s breeches slowly. “Tomorrow my men will decimate that piece of rotted wood you call a ship along with your savage friend and traitor Lee.” Connor felt a yell ready to burst from his lips before the man raised a finger to them to silence him. “Quiet, you don’t want to wake your father do you?”

Connor froze as he suddenly remembered the sleeping form of his father seated across from him, his heart jumped as he shifted before snoring softly. Washington leaned in closer with a delighted grin as he kissed at his neck. He shut his eyes an concentrated on keeping down his squeaks in surprise and hissed in response. Why, why did this have to happen to him? Why was Washington so obsessed with chasing after him? Why couldn’t he truly be free like before? He stiffened when he felt the man shift and move a little as the sound of him slipping off his breeches filled his ears. At that moment he contemplated screaming and awakening his father, hoping that instead of sitting their shocked he could immediately leap to his aid. But then what? Washington would just use the Apple to control their bodies to freeze them in place, he would now have an audience. Just as he had been fearful of Kanen'tó:kon’s eyes falling upon him in the throne room, witnessing the most vile form of a power display, he was now terrified of having his father’s own eyes see him. He didn’t know how much of what he believed was true however it was certain that Connor didn’t stir up some feelings of disappointment from Haytham and although there wasn’t anything he could have really down to expect what was happening now, did he really want his father to wake up to see him giving into to Washington’s demands? Perhaps he would just some up his submissiveness to the weakness that he now had. After all what can such a weak man as he do when put in such a complicated situation? Maybe if he had just stayed with Washington when the cannons had bombarded the fort those weeks ago, protested to the rescue and tried to make his way make in the dark of night. That would save the crew’s, Faulkner’s and Kanen'tó:kon’s life for sure, they did not deserve to die for him.

“Wait.” He mumbled softly, still rigid against the king’s chest. Blue eyes glanced down at him as the man paused for a moment raising a light eyebrow.

“What is it, Connor?” Washington didn’t look like he wanted to wait and Connor tried not to glance down to see the throbbing reason as to why he didn’t. He wetted his lips softly before he whispered softly.

“Call off the bet, just sneak me aboard one of your ships and take me back to the palace. I will not protest and will not try to run, just please leave these people alone. They do not deserve to die.” He made sure to make his tone pleading, wishing his body was slightly more in his control so that he could do anything to make Washington favor his offer. The man was silent for a moment, his eyes darkening as he thought it over for a moment before he responded.

“No.” Connor felt his heart rise into his throat at the thought of his friends’ dying faces as they sank into the cold water. “I will not be going back to the palace. I quite like it here, very quite and homely. I shall make my residence here as soon as the battle is over and all of your friend’s have been taken care of.”

Connor felt his eyes light up in anger and right before he snarled out the sudden upwards thrust of something very thick and hard into him left him sputtering. He had never once been grateful of the man’s kisses, but at that moment he was glad Washington had chosen to eagerly shove his tongue down his throat. His body shook lightly as he gasped into the kiss to get the breath that had been forced out of his lungs back, tears pricking the corner of his eyes at the harsh sting. Had it really been so long since his last encounter with this man? Had his body become so unaccustomed to such an act so quickly the whole last years being dedicated to it to night and day? He supposes it his just his mind making it so much worse, for it only took one hour of his hands being free from the chains to make it forget every little pain that accompanied such a physical thing.

As soon as the kiss broke Connor silently gasped for breath, whimpering terribly at the cruel pace the king at set up. He’s thrusting into him desperately and quickly, perhaps even he is worried about Haytham waking too soon. He has to give his father credit though, what a heavy sleeper he is for a Templar. His mind snaps back to Washington as his lips press against his ear before whispering.

“The residents of here will follow them, I do not need any more uprisings or hard to control minds under my reign.” His eyes shoot up in alarm, nearly screaming in protest.

“Please, no” He begs quietly, his voice turning high at the end as he arches his back to another sharp thrust. “T-There must b-be another way.”

“There is no other way, foolish boy. They have accepted their fate, hiding and stealing a valuable possession from their beloved king. Besides with these fools dead we will have the protection and peace this land has to offer us, away from those would be traitors that inhabit that blasted city. I should have built my palace here.” His eyes clouded as he continued to muse, only half thinking about the act he was preforming on him. Connor felt himself start to panic as Washington’s mindless ramblings grew louder and Haytham began to stir. Letting out a quiet mewl he quickly recaptured the tyrant’s attention who grinned shrewdly.

“Enjoying yourself, Connor? I should have known you’d no doubt be eager to continue this as well.” Thrusting sharply causing him to gasp loudly before biting his lip to hold back the sharp refusal that nearly jumped out. He let his mind go blank, letting him his body simply lie there and take it, ignoring when the king’s lips were smashed against his one, greedily sucking. Ignored everything. It wasn’t long before the body beneath him shuddered letting out a low moan before filling him up with sickening heat. He pulled out carelessly, making him hiss lightly at the ache the man had left him with before his breeches were pulled up roughly. Groaning lightly he could care less if Haytham awakened now, the man would figure out what had taken place one way or another, at least however he wasn’t conscious for the actual event. He felt his body go limp before he even realized that the Apple was no longer controlling him as he slumped off of Washington’s lap and onto the floor with a loud thump. There was a shuddering gasp as someone struggled for breath, assuming it first to be himself, that is until he saw the movement out of the corner of his eye.

Haytham was struggling for breath, his eyes wide awake as their narrowed on Washington. The king was adjusting his breeches with the most satisfied smirk upon his lips as he sat back in the seat comfortably, the soldiers still pointing their muskets towards them.

“You horrid bastard!” He roared as he struggled against the chains on his wrists, he was too awake there was no way he could have been sleeping with just how aware he is.

“So you were awake the whole time were you?” Washington asked with false innocence, making Connor want to disappear. Was he supposed to suffer from the fact that everyone not only knew but saw him in his most helpless state?

“It seems you weren’t quiet enough, Connor.” Washington tutted lightly, taking amount to glance down at his still from. He wouldn’t move, he wouldn’t protest. Hopefully his subservience would give the homestead residents a chance to be spared from Achilles wrath. “No matter, you shall be dead before midday tomorrow.”

“I’ll kill you for this, for everything you’ve done, all the stupidity your ignorance has reaped.” Haytham promised, his eyes were lit in fury as he struggled against his bonds. “I’ll do it slowly, when your mind his free from that blasted thing as you sob out over and over ‘I don’t know what I’ve done wrong!’ Then when I think you’ve had enough I’ll kill you, never once telling you what you torture was for, even as the life fades from your eyes, you’ll die as ignorant as you were in life.” Haytham hissed as Washington chuckled amusedly.

“A bit dramatic isn’t, Haytham? Perhaps you should tone down your desire to be the center of attention with such interestingly designed fools’ plans. I thought of a much better demise for you, I think you’d like it. Tomorrow when I have won, I will take you out to the cliffs behind the house and have the Apple force you off. Clean and simple isn’t it?” He mused thoughtfully, his tone taking to one of that of terrifying glee.

“What if I survive Washington? You know how much of a pest I can be.”
 He cautioned lightly.

“If you do, which I seriously doubt, I look forward to seeing you upon my door step ready to be thrown once more. I shall do that until you finally die, your luck will run out soon enough.” Connor nearly laughed at both of their suggestions, both were cruel and vindictive selections of fates chosen for an enemy, but both left a chance of survival for them. They both didn’t want death to come quick to their enemy and yet it seemed they liked having a slim chance being open for their enemy to live, maybe it’s their egos getting in the way of ending each other with a single shot or stab to the neck.

Thankfully Connor was never a dramatic man.

He summoned whatever strength he had left and leapt up, unsheathing the small knife Achilles had given him since his return--keeping it hidden beneath the coat on his chest--and drove it into the awaiting flesh.

Of the King’s shoulder.

He nearly screamed in anger at once again missing the king’s neck like he did all those years ago. He did however feel a bit of satisfaction as Washington shouted in pain, glaring at him for a split second before a fist connected with his head sending him flying onto the ground. He felt a light grin spread across his face despite his darkening vision as Washington snarled in pain as he heard the sliding of the knife being pulled free.

It was better to go down fighting than to be a sheep, he realized.

Yes more Washcon... I am a horrible horrible person /grins/ but I love angry daddy Haytham... and hope he and Kanen kill Washington together; as much as I'd love Connor to do it... I don't think he's physically up to it... or emotionally up to it if Washington were to revert to his old self

Thank you again for filling this anon

Random Anon loves this story, it's so fantastically written and thought out! but part of me would really love to see this story have 2 endings, one where Washington wins and one where he loses. (don't feel the need to do this, i'm just thinking out loud ^_^u)

Just gonna put this out there but if there was an alternate ending we could have a part with Connor moaning like the puppet *cough*whore*cough* Washington would want him to be.

Also, sub thought, what if after all this Connor just went mad, just started laughing or something and it freaks Washington out because he won't stop.

(just sayin.)

Ahhh! Its so good! I love the WashCon! Although you didn't add the moaning part which this anon asked for, its still a brilliant chapter none the less! ( besides, maybe you can just add it in as a flashback chapter or something later :D ) sorry to hear your pipes burst. Sounds like you're having one hell of a time at home. We anons appreciate the updates greatly ^_^ Don't want the story to end!

Whoa... Haytham was listening the entire time? When did he wake up? Evil-anon wonders what murderous thoughts were running through his head

I actually hope Washington remembers everything that happened while he had the Apple and has an 'Oh God, what have I done?' moment to end all others. :)

And I, too, would love, love, love to see two endings, but I'm sure whatever you do will be great.

Poor Connor and Haytham... the latter knew what kind of physical and emotional torture his son had been through but to actually see/hear it while he was immobilized must have been agony.

Gosh darn it, I only realized I forgot to mention just how Haytham woke up when you lovely anons brought it up. I really have to stop forgetting to put in key things, I’ll make sure I address it later don’t worry. If not I’ll make sure I explain it in one of these top updates. And I like the ideas you have given me anons, I thinking I may indeed explore this delightful second ending. Sorry Connor. So here is the next update, thank you for reading and reviewing everyone!

***

Kanen'tó:kon had been taken aback by Washington’s allowance for them to prepare their ship for the battle. As he had climbed into the small rowboat alone he said that they would be the one’s to initiate the start of the engagement the following morning. His face was blank of emotion, stoically regarding them as he awaited their answer. mFrowning in suspicion he hesitantly agreed as he watched the man row back to his ships, disappearing amongst the crowded vessels once far enough away. Hearing Charles Lee mumble something behind him he turned around with a raised brow. The man was whispering something to Achilles, eyes darting to watch the ships dotted along the horizon. Achilles looked rather annoyed, taking moments to even move a slight space away from Lee, clearly irritated with him being so close.

“What is it?” He asked the two lightly who paused in their secret discussion, Achilles speaking for them both.

“We were deciding what our plan of attack should be tomorrow. I say we go back and evacuate the homestead tonight, do so quietly and efficiently and tomorrow when they come to investigate there will be no trace of us here.” Kanen'tó:kon shook his head before Achilles could go into further detail.

“No, no more running away. Washington will continue to chase us, continue to kill and enslave innocents in his wake because of us. Because of me. If we end him here we will not have to run and hide from him in fear anymore. If we stop him here the people under his cruel hand will be able to go back to their normal lives, move on and go back to the people they were before. He will never be able to rise up again if we kill him here, destroying his fleet would severely cripple him if we fail to take his life tomorrow.” He argued, watching as Achilles face fell into that of frustration.

“I don’t think you realize just how powerful, Washington’s fleet will be against our single ship.” Charles interrupted, casting a glance to his side as Faulkner came over to join them. “You are not a captain, neither am I but I know just how dangerous the engagement tomorrow will be. We must all sit down together and agree on a single plan, perhaps combining ours all together?”

“The crew is ready to sail into anything if that helps.” Faulkner replied gravely. “No matter the risk, we will fight if it means our deaths to save the captain.” He glared lightly at Lee, distrust evident in his eyes and even more so in his voice. As much as Kanen'tó:kon would appreciate if they could in fact agree to trust each other he settled for them just doing their jobs right. Whatever the job may be.

“I don’t think your deaths will be necessary, however helpful they maybe.” Charles snapped lightly making Faulkner’s eyes narrow.

“Now who would fill in the roll of the pest if we were gone?” The smile that crossed his lips might have been in jest but the seething tone as a threat in itself.

“Enough.” Kanen'tó:kon barked, annoyed. He needed no fighting amongst what little allies he had left. “Lee did you have something in mind that could prevent bloodshed on our part?”

“Well I don’t know about saving us from bloodshed.” He began exasperatedly, eyes flicking up to the manor on the hill for a moment, glinting with worry. “But I know what ship the tyrant to be aboard.”

Kanen'tó:kon’s eyes widened in surprise and opened his mouth to demand what ship it was before Faulkner cut him off.

“Well that’s all fine and dandy, but the fact remains that there tons of ships out there armed to the teeth and only one of us. Sure we know what ship to make sure we don’t sink, but how are we supposed to keep ourselves becoming residents of the sea floor graveyard before that? I will say that I can sail decently, but I don’t think even the captain could get out of that mess without a scratch.” Kanen'tó:kon held is tongue for a moment as he thought, the silence enveloping the group was more than just awkward. After a moment he heard the two men begin to argue again, making him instead fall deeper into his own thoughts. It was true, just knowing where Washington was didn’t exclude all the other ships they had to fight through. Would they even stand a chance against it after going through a long and lengthy battle with each? He rubbed his temples as his head began to ache, a bit of fear filling his chest at the overwhelming possibility of losing entered his mind. He could not afford to lose now that they just got Connor back, now that they just gotten the upper hand on the tyrant, now that his people could be facing mass killing once more. That didn’t mean however he should throw the lives of the Aquila crew away, they were just as precious as those whose fates awaited the finally outcome. If only there was a way for him to get onto Washington’s vessel, surely his men would not fire upon their own ship? He groaned in annoyance as the bickering besides him became louder, perhaps if he smashed their head together they would quiet down. He froze as the idea jumped into his head as unexpectedly as their day had been.

“We smash our ship into Washington’s.” He stated softly, the two men stopped in their bickering and turned to him a tad confused.

“What?” Charles Lee asked, a hint of dread in his voice.

“We smash our ship into Washington’s. That would surely get us aboard and that would make sure Washington’s men do not fire upon us as they might hit his as well.” He explained as he felt a grin tug at his lips, the act of continuously smashing their ship into Washington’s would surely take away the risk of enemy fire.

“It isn’t that simple, boy.” Faulkner sighed lightly as he rubbed the back of his next, taking a moment to think of how t give a reasonable explanation. “ Smashing ships together like a pair of rocks won’t do us any good, we’d sink the ship if we did enough damage to one of it’s sides and Washington could use our ship as a shield from cannon fire so the others could fire upon us. We couldn’t board it by just bashing into it either, he would just turn her away leaving us to fall into the water as midway through, then what’s to stop another one of his ships from coming up along our side and boarding us? As great as it sounds it isn’t that well of an idea for taking down that tyrant.”

Kanen'tó:kon paused for a moment to rethink his strategy before speaking once more. “I am the only one who needs to board the ship. All you have to do is ram the ship a single time, I will leap onto the ship and take out Washington. The crew just then has to hold on until I successfully take him out.”

Faulkner let out a troubled breath, sounding a little frustrated as he replied. “Letting you go on alone to take him out? I don’t think you should go by yourself, you’d be dead before your feet even touched the wood of the deck. Besides just because you take out Washington doesn’t mean the rest of his fleet would surrender, we’d still be in high water until the whole lot of them are gone.”

“No.” Charles interrupted a little surprised and a grin spreading across his lips. “Washington’s controlling the soldiers in a way you will never understand and in a way that would take much more time to explain to someone who shouldn’t even have any knowledge about it in the first place. If the boy and I board the ship together we will have much more of a chance, as soon as Washington is taken care of consider the rest of his fleet nullified. I trust you can hold your own for longer than a second, if not we were doomed from the start.”

Faulkner looked like he was contemplating tearing Charles’ head off before he sighed in resignation. “I suppose you two wouldn’t have done much aboard the ship anyway, seeing as you both lack even the most basic of knowledge when commanding a ship.” He paused, even though it was an insult addressed to the two of them it was directed at Charles who fumed silently with a heated glare. “Then I will do so, only if Achilles however allows it.”

Kanen'tó:kon turned to the old man who had remained silent through their whole discussion. He was sitting back a few steps in a poorly made chair that was no doubt brought to him by one of the Aquila crewmen, staring at the ground. They stared at him for a few moments, waiting for him to either agree or disagree with what they had in mind. He lightly glanced up after a few tense moments, looking at them solemnly.

“As I stated three years ago I shall say again, I have retired from my Assassin role. I will not be the one to send you all to your deaths, such a heavy burden would break these old shoulders of mine. “

“Achilles,” Kanen'tó:kon began softly, making to be careful with what he said, “we are not going to our deaths, if I had any doubt that this plan would not work I would have chosen another way. There is none, well not that I can tell, so please if you know of a better way then enlighten me so I can make sure the risks have been lower.”

“If you trust in Faulkner’s abilities to get you aboard that ship while making sure to stay alive long enough that you may take out Washington, that you trust in yourself to not make any mistakes when getting onto the ship so that you can put a stop to Washington’s tyranny, if you trust that Lee will not betray you and stay by your side to defeat him then you have made the wisest choice.” Achilles took a moment to get up from his seat, his legs wobbling lightly making Kanen'tó:kon jerk forward to help him but held back when the man held up a hand. “ I will remain here to treat your wounds when you return. Just make sure you don’t ruin those robes.” He moved inside Faulkner’s small home before he could protest in response. He sighed softly before he turned around to face the two men who shuffled softly in response.

“We best get to work then.”

The preparations took all night and even went into the early hours of the morning as the morning fog rolled through the bay. Kanen'tó:kon shuddered lightly from the cold as he pulled the robes closer around himself before resuming his task of moving a box of cannonballs onto the ship. He rolled his eyes as he heard Lee grumble in anger behind him.

“We are trying to get onto the ship as fast as possible, I don’t know how he expects to do that with all this blasted weight!” Charles snapped as he set down another box of cannonballs, stretching out and rubbing his back with a light wince. “What’s the good of sending us out to battle without being at the top of our condition.”

There’s a light chuckle behind him as Faulkner set down the last box of cannonballs. “How do you expect us to defend ourselves with out ammunition? The Aquila is a fast ship no matter how much weight you try to hold her down with. She will get you to Washington’s side before you even expect it.” Charles grumbled and pushed past them as he headed back onto the dock and over to the fire to warm up.

“Listen, Kanen.” Faulkner started, the nickname was used because of the man’s inability to pronounce his full name, looking somber. He pulled out a small bundle of cloth from his pocket, glancing at it for a moment. “Connor and I had found this together on one of our expeditions for the treasure of the famous Captain Kidd.” He didn’t go onto explain what he meant despite the confused look he gave the man. “We found something incredible, but strange. He asked me to hang onto this before he well fell into Washington’s hands. I don’t need you dying on me and causing us to go through two incredible losses.” He uncovered the cloth to reveal what looked like a small ring that was a strange greenish blue color. Kanen'tó:kon picked it up, glancing at the object strangely as the man placed the cloth back in his pocket. “Make sure you wear that and never take it off.” Before he could ask why Faulkner had already moved away, taking his position at the wheel as the final members of the crew, including Charles, boarded the ship. He lightly slipped it onto his finger before the man joined him at his side, shivering as he rubbed his hands together. Glancing at the ring one last time before looked ahead into the clearing fog, the bows of Washington ship’s looking like sharp arrows.

“Of course we’d have to fight in this frigid winter weather.” Kanen'tó:kon chuckled lightly as he glanced over to the cranky man. “We’ll freeze to death before we’re even across the bay, let alone this whole battle.”

“Well good thing we will win quickly then.”

Anon, you've made me feel sorry for Charles. o.o

I did not think that was possible.

But seriously, poor Charles. Here he is, legitimately trying to help, and almost everyone but Kanen'tó:kon is treating like he's infected with the plague. -_- Faulkner, dude, let's not give Charles any reason to make sure your ship is blasted to smithereens in the end, 'k? :)

On another note, soooo glad that Kanen'tó:kon has the magnetic ring thing. I wonder if it'll work for blades and swords and not just bullets? 'Cause Faulkner may just have made Kanen'tó:kon invincible. :D

...is it evil that I'm hoping that Kanen'tó:kon finds Connor in the condition Washington left him and then takes revenge on Washington with Haytham? :D
