Awww... I still cannot believe how much Connor has changed from the last time we got a peek into his head. However, I think that change was finally encouraged by Charles' own change in behavior (did Charles give up his unrequited love for Haytham already?) and the knowledge that he is not alone anymore, that finally gave Connor the courage to come back. He may not like the idea of giving up his old life and his freedom; but in exchange he'll have his friends (Clipper, the Homesteaders, and maybe Stephane and Deborah?), his family (will be much more bearable without Charles forcing himself upon him), and the knowledge that his people will be safe and not driven out of their lands... all in all, it sounds like a better ending than the game's ^^;

Currently working on Chapter 4 of Shattered Glass, will have some of it up later.

Ooo...can't wait to read chapter 4! :D

But yeah...Connor changed. Your ideas are fairly spot on (though I don't think Charles will ever let go of his unrequited love for Haytham), but it was also time. Time trapped in his mind, forced to do nothing but think and listen and understand. Watching his friends work so hard for him and love him so much, even Charles's reluctant respect...
