[FILL] Templar!Desmond - 1/??

(Anonymous) 2015-01-03 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
Alright folks, here it is. Anon from above who recently got super inspired on how to do this. Shaun/Desmond focused. Canon compliant up to the end of AC4 (to the best of my memory - and aside, of course, from the obvious fact that Desmond was a templar all along), so spoiler alerts ahoy. I'm not 100% on where this is going yet, so feedback would be awesome~ :D

Title will change once I think of something good.

========

Shaun came to with a small groan, shifting slightly and hissing in a quiet breath. When he tried to rub his eyes, he found he couldn't, because he was restrained. He took a few breaths as softly and slowly as he could, took stock of his body; he had no immediate pain, not even a throbbing inside his head. He was sitting, bound into something with solid arms, with thick cuffs that covered his wrists to halfway up his forearms. His feet were resting on something slightly elevated - not the floor, but solid. A twitch revealed his feet were bound as well, if more loosely and by something much more forgiving. By his best guess, he was probably in a wheelchair of some sort, which didn't bode well for his immediate future.

At least they didn't use zipties, he thought, but honestly? This was probably worse. It meant they wanted him alive, but who knew for how long?

There was ambient noise from outside whatever room they were in, but nothing distinct enough to give him an idea of where he was being kept. He could hear breathing inside the room, at least two other people aside from himself, but that was all he could gather without opening his eyes. He knew 'they' had to know he was awake, but he kept his eyes closed anyways, tried to recall how he got here.

He knew who his captors were, of course: Abstergo. Templars. He also that they had to have Rebecca, as well - his very recent memory was a bit foggy, but they'd almost been out, he was certain of it. He and Rebecca been together, though, so it was highly unlikely that Rebecca had gotten away; she was certainly too stubborn and idealistic to just leave Shaun behind even if she'd had the chance to run.

It was possible their captors try to play the two against each other, threaten one to interrogate the other. Shaun couldn't help but be a little frightened at the prospect - he'd always known that capture and torture were possibilities, of course. He'd had some training to resist the most likely techniques, but he also knew that the truth was everyone broke eventually. He didn't exactly have an iron constitution; there was a reason he wasn't a field agent.

Finally, Shaun opened his eyes without raising his head just yet. He could see from his position that he was, in fact, strapped to a large wheelchair; that, like some bad spy drama from the 90's, he was in the middle of a bright pool of light inside a darkened room; and that his clothes had been changed, swapped out for some plain blue scrubs - which only added further evidence to the theory that drugs had been involved somehow.

He had to blink when he finally raised his head, eyes adjusting to the harsh lights pointed at them. He thought he could make out a man-shaped blob over in where he felt the door must be, based on the ambient noise from beyond, but he wasn't certain. However, when he looked to his left, he let out a quick breath, because Rebecca was there, in a wheelchair of her own, head hanging down in complete unconsciousness.

"Christ," he breathed, before he could stop himself. He froze, eyes darting to where he thought the man-shape had been, but there was no sound, no movement. He looked over Rebecca again, more carefully - she was alive, breathing slow and deep, wearing a set of scrubs similar to his own, in lavender. She didn't have any obvious wounds, no blood that he could see, and he relaxed slightly even though he knew that all of those things could change at any moment.

Shaun turned his attention back to the man-shape in the darkness, squinting a bit to try and get a little definition beyond the harsh glare of the lights that separated them. "Hello?," he called out. "I'm awake now, so a little attention would be nice. Water, too, if you've got it. Anyone?," he asked, but only silence followed, and no movement that he could detect.

"Of course, not," he muttered, wiggling openly, just testing his bonds. The arm restraints were solid, and he couldn't even see the mechanism that locked them at all, which was a bit of a setback. His legs, however, were only restrained with what appeared to be leather cuffs, and while he could move them, his range was so limited that his best option was to try and wriggle his leg upward and work his ankle out - honestly, it was kind of a long shot.

He kept talking as he worked, muttering and bitching generically about his situation, hoping to annoy whoever was in here into talking or something, anything, but he was able to go through the whole routine without interruption. The thing is, he wasn't being quiet anymore, and Rebecca hadn't so much as stirred. Shaun was worried, really worried, but fuck if he was going to let Abstergo know that.

"This is by far the worst hospitality I've ever encountered. Who kidnaps people and then doesn't threaten them the moment they're awake? Amateurs," Shaun huffed. He'd been trying to raise his leg, to test the limit of the cuff's chain, but froze when he heard what he could have sworn was a cut-off sort of laugh. "Yeah?," he called, trying to sound as cocky as he'd ever done. "I've got a lot of opinions about your little setup here. I've already started organizing a list. You know, maybe in order of comfort or perhaps competency, style, you know, that sort of thing. Points lost for cliche, though, honestly. Look at this, you should be ashamed." No response to that, though - maybe he was imagining things. Maybe that was just some sort of cardboard cutout of a guard. Or a robot. Yeah, a robot, that was more likely.

"C'mon, at least tell me what we're in for," he began again, but still no response. Shaun let out a deep sigh. "Alright, I'll guess. You just let me know when I get the right one. Let's see, there's interrogation, I mean, that's as cliche as the rest of it. Torture for the sake of it, diabolic and unnecessarily complex experiments, extortion or maybe as hostages, or oh! Brainwashing! Recruitment. Lord knows you people need help," he spat, glaring at the probably-a-robot guard refusing to rise to any of his extremely clever baits.

"Actually," a voice called out of the darkness, nowhere near where he'd been scowling. "That's exactly what you're here for."

Shaun froze, took a moment before he could take in the next breath, because that voice? That voice belonged to a dead man. That voice was one he'd last heard on a recording asking his father to tell his mother that he loved them. That voice, he'd last heard in person as Desmond ordered them to leave the temple before they were all killed.

"No," he breathed slowly, eyes swerving where he thought he'd heard the voice from, a corner of the room too dark to see any sort of shapes in. "That... It can't be."

But it had to be, because in the next moment, Desmond stepped into the light, whole and alive as he'd ever been. He looked almost exactly as he had when Shaun had last seen him - dressed in worn jeans and a hoodie, hands in his pockets and a smile that looked too fond to be anything but genuine.

"Hey, Shaun."

Ezio/Sofia "Making Love"

(Anonymous) 2015-01-03 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's most people's headcanon (and sort of actual canon) that Ezio has had a life filled with lots of sex and fucking, yes? But then Sofia comes along, and Ezio wants to "make love" to her and he's not entirely sure how to go about being all gentle and vanilla and fluffy.

And Sofia is a canon virgin when they meet, but after some steamy sessions with Ezio, lets out her inner Sex Goddess and enjoys Teh Kink. Only, she's not quite sure how to tell her doting husband to just fuck her, already!

Can we have smutty, fluffy shenanigans involving this situation, please?

Also, Happy New Year, Kinkmeme!

Seconded, anything with those two is great by default!

Seconding this. Also I just got the idea of Sofia having encountered descriptions of kinky sex in some of her books she's read. Whoever fills, maybe you could work in something like that.

Dobby/Ellen

(Anonymous) 2015-01-03 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Both may flirt with Connor, but in the end it's Ellen who truly catches Dobby's eye, and Ellen has to admit there's something intriguing about Dobby. Cue gorgeous mature ladies awkwardly floundering about like shy teenagers, and eventual happy end.

bonus points:
- Dobby is kinda nervous about Ellen's daughter not approving of her mother with another woman, but surprise, girl ships it and gives Dobby advice how to court her mom
- Connor ships it too, and being the cutie he is he also tries to help, but only ends up making everything more awkward somehow
- UST when Ellen measures Dobby for some new clothes
- said new clothes eventually end up wherever while they eat each other out

Oh, she totally has a copy of the Illustrated Kama Sutra somewhere Ezio can't get his mitts on it :P

First : Oh my god. Why are you so kind..? Second : I already read it to.. Actually I've read all the clay/des fic in AO3..

Not OP, but thanks for finding the idea interesting!

(Anonymous) 2015-01-04 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
So in this context, Lucy and Desmond are on the same side (if at least one being unaware of the other -- possibly both?) and nominally working the same goal with Rebecca and Shaun both unaware, yet Juno compels or convinces Desmond to kill Lucy nevertheless? DAMMIT, Lucy couldn't catch a break... but as to the plot, I'd have gone from such a completely different direction (namely the "mirror flip" AU) that I'd rather defer to your own preferences and the OP when it comes to your story's direction!

As for the Templars as sympathetic, I'd take a look at Rogue for a glimpse of the possibilities (though there's quite the history of Templars with pre-existing, however-legitimate grievances or who saw the Order as a means to not-necessarily-anti-Assassin ends) while the Assassins as "ascendant and reigning" isn't at all unprecedented (can you say "Jacques de Molay"?). Heck, the post-Brotherhood Italian Templars and post-AC3 American Templars had to come from somewhere besides *ahem* "foreign imports"... why not in response to an Assassin hierarchy that practices the Creed a lot less than it likes to believe that it does?

(Another AU idea I had would have essentially amounted to, of all things, a Assassin's Creed/Dynasty Warriors crossover by overlaying the Assassin-Templar War onto the events of end-of-the-Han Dynasty/Three Kingdoms-periods...)

Re: Not OP, but thanks for finding the idea interesting!

(Anonymous) 2015-01-04 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, Lucy and Desmond are both templars. Sorta spoilers for the (current plan for the) story below:

Desmond is a templar when he's brought into Lucy's care, but she doesn't know that. That's why he doesn't try too hard to escape, why there are almost no repercussions for the few times he does act out, and why they're mostly in ways that Lucy can/has to cover for, as well. Shaun and Rebecca are Assassins through and through, and believe Lucy to be one still, and that Desmond can be (had been) recruited back to the cause.

Lucy still had to die, however. Her orders are to bring Desmond and the apple back to the templars after the events of Brotherhood, which originally worked in Desmond's favor - he'd be able to return with the artifact, and retain the possibility of further 'rescues' by the assassins or 'escapes' to the assassins in the future should they need further intel/a mole/a diversion/etc. But Juno needed Desmond to experience the synch nexus, to find the threat to the planet so he could free her in the process. So he needed to stay with the assassins for a little longer, which meant Lucy had to die - once Desmond knew about the temple, though, he'd go along with it, because of course the templars don't want the world to end either, and if this would work where the satellite had failed... It wasn't an easy choice, but the templars had faced some very public setbacks and this looked like an easier solution. Let the Assassins work hard for it, and if they looked to fail, Desmond would call in the templars. Most of this will probably be spelled out, though - I'm sure Shaun will have questions that need answers, after all. :3

For financial reasons, I won't be able to get either Rogue or Unity any time soon, so that's not a possibility for me. :( I will eventually, though. It is pretty fascinating how their positions have changed and changed again over the centuries. The templars themselves acknowledge the Borgia's rule of the order as one of their darkest times, so I'm certain there's mistakes to that degree in the Assassins, and that they're reflective enough of their own history to be aware. They're all human, after all. (And that's the most interesting thing, isn't it, that all of these people are just so convinced they're doing the right things for the right reasons? All of them so firm in their convictions, and each believing that they can cast judgement on others for their decisions... Good stuff! :3)

(Ohhhh my god, that would be amazing. Very good parallels, because in general, the templars have the numbers, and the Assassins have the one really skilled dude just cutting down swaths of their enemies...)

Snippet of a Fill

(Anonymous) 2015-01-04 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Apologies, OP. I know this isn’t what you had in mind. But my little nieces and nephews were in visiting for the holidays, and I just totally flew in the opposite direction and couldn’t stop.

Um… sorry? At least it’s cute?

--------------------------------

Haytham carefully lays his infant son down on the changing table, eases the soft blue sweatpants down, and starts unsnapping the diaper. Connor lets out a quiet sound that stills Haytham’s hands and makes a lump lodge in his throat.

Did Connor just… giggle?

Haytham gently (so gently, because Connor was so tiny and delicate) wriggles his fingers along Connor’s sides.

Connor giggle-squeals again, then wriggles and grins up at Haytham.

Haytham grins back, quickly changes the diaper, and proceeds to try and find every single ticklish spot Connor has.

Which is why, twenty minutes later, Ziio finds Haytham and their son on the floor. Connor is on his back, belly-laughing so hard he’s snorting, and Haytham is hovering over him, blowing raspberries on his stomach.

Ziio sighs and can’t find it in herself to be irritated. “I was wondering what was taking so long. Dinner’s ready.”

Haytham clears his throat, sits up, and tries to look dignified. Which is hard when you’ve blown so many raspberries on a baby belly that you’ve drooled on yourself. “Yes, sorry, we got a little distracted.”

“Mm?” Ziio raises one brow, folds her arms, and leans against the doorway.

“He started—laughing,” Haytham tries to explain. “I was just—trying to find out where he was ticklish.”

“Ah,” is Ziio’s only response.

Haytham squirms a bit under her gaze. “He likes when you blow raspberries on his belly.”

“I see.” Ziio comes further into the room and kneels down so she’s across from Haytham, with Connor between them.

Connor squirms, much like his father just had, and looks between them with a wide smile.

“He likes raspberries on his feet too,” Ziio supplies helpfully, playfully snatching up one of Connor’s feet and blowing a soft ‘thbbblllt’ to the bottom of it.

Connor grins and giggles quietly, then looks at Haytham.

“Oh my, it seems he has two feet.” Haytham catches the other, flailing leg. “One for each of us.”

And with that, Haytham and Ziio playfully attack two tiny baby feet with kisses and raspberries, much to Connor’s shrieking, giggling, delight.

Re: Snippet of a Fill

(Anonymous) 2015-01-04 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Not the OP, but this is adorable! And I can totally see Haytham being embarrassed at being caught at being cute, but then breathing a sigh of relief at seeing Ziio likes it. Plus, I can pretend this is an awesome AU where everything worked out fine between Haytham and Ziio.

When entering his cabin, Haytham sitting on his chair reading a book wouldn’t be an unwelcome sight. The problem comes from what he’s reading: his journal.

Haytham lifts his eyes from the text and closes the book lazily. The noise made by pages hitting each other shouldn’t be so loud, yet it seems to echo through the small room. So does Haytham’s voice: “Thank you so much for writing this. I love your characterisation.”

Shay can’t believe he just- no, he can. Haytham would. Still. “You… What gave you the right!”

“You’re at fault for letting what you wanted kept secret lying around for anyone to see. Especially when some might use it to question your loyalty. So much sentiment, so many emotions for the murderer of our allies. Tell me, do you think you could change him, that he could be swayed?”

Shay does hate this ability of Haytham to always know where to hit to make it hurt. “Of course not. There’s nothing to salvage. He is our enemy.”

The silence stretches as Haytham stares at him before answering. “Good of you to acknowledge it. Might I remind you left the Assassins behind, with all those involved. This endless rehashing of what could have been serves no one, least of all the Order.”

There’s something in his tone… “You’re speaking from experience, aren’t you?”

“We all left people behind in our quest for order. We have to trust it’s worth it, or we’ll be finished.” Steel both in his voice and on his face. Haytham has deemed the subject closed. At least his deflection worked.

Haytham throws the book at him. “Be more careful next time.”

“Don’t worry, I will.”

Mmmhmm... as it stands, in canon Shaun only questioned Desmond's allegiance after Lucy's death, so perhaps you could have it be that Shaun and Rebecca don't know about Lucy by the time of your story? What they know about William, I defer to you... but I'm reminded of al-Mualim, what with William having been "global" Mentor.

As for the rest of your reply, would you find it objectionable if I were to quote/reply in the AC Character Discussion comment thread in the Discussions page? The thread was pretty heavy on the Connor talk, but I'm happy to encompass the whole of the AC idea in it, and I've a lot that I wanted to say in reply but which'd be quite off-topic from the Templar!Desmond idea.

I was watching some early episodes of Sleepy Hollow and couldn't help but notice what Ichabod said to Abbie and Jenny;
"If your family ties meant so little to you'd spend far less effort baiting her into a fight to stoke your misguided pride."

Immediately I noticed how perfect I'd be if someone said it to William/Desmond, or Haythem/Connor.

Re: A Body In Motion [1/1]

This is outstanding! And amazing and tragic but with a tiny bit of hope at the end. And as much as I like Edward, it makes me angry that he didn't heed his own daughter and her gifts (and such a hypocrite, considering Mary Read brought him into the assassins and Anne Bonny stuck by him after Adewale left. So there was no excuse for him to think women weren't capable of being assassins too!). And now I think of what could have been had Jenny been able to turn Haytham's purple into blue...

Re: Not OP, but thanks for finding the idea interesting!

(Anonymous) 2015-01-05 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
While that is an interesting, INTERESTING idea (if only for the emotional impact when Desmond imparts that little truth), thinking on it further, I'm not certain I could work it into the story the way I've sort of planned it out. I could write a bunch about this (and I did, then deleted it, because it was a LOT and this really isn't the place for that sort of thing, and I might go in a different direction entirely anyways, MAN! But I do like the idea, because shit, that'd be hard to bounce back from, the knowledge that Desmond knowingly killed a 'true' ally to his cause because he found it completely necessary. o.o;).

So yes, let's head over to the Character Discussion thread - I'll make sure to flag it so I get e-mail updates from it. :3
