For spoiler!anon it was that they made me, the player, kill one of my favourite characters. I loved Adé from the beginning, and I liked Shay, and the game forcing me to kill him was so jarring for me - yeah, maybe in a narrarive sense a logical conclusion and better than having him dismissed from the continuity, but on a personal level I'd have preferred that over having to kill him. If he had been killed by another character, or by Shay while I was playing as someone else, I'd have been mad but I could get over it. Like this it leaves a really bitter taste though, and I'm not imressed by how Ubi handled his death at all. Can't say I didn't see it coming seeing how the game is based on a Templar perspective and the Assassins are the enemy, but I can't help but think having the player as Shay kill Adé, of all people, was unnecessarily harsh.
