In the process of saving the world, Desmon's humanity is burned out and he evolves into a creature beyond space and time. With wings. And solar/fire control. Some might call him an Angel. And because he's a new baby near goldy thing idle thoughts have consequences. Like his thought that instead of being alone in a cave to be killed and/or captured he'd really wish he could be with his family.
And then he is. But, see, because animus all his familial feelings are wrapped up in Auditore drama. And he seems to have gotten spat out years before Giovanni and his Ezio's brothers were hanged! Thus, intangible and undetectable (except by animals, because traditionally acute supernatural senses and possibly through Eagle Vision) Desmond just starts following around his Ancestors (Desmond: I don't know what's going on, but this Auditore family Soap Opera is HILARIOUS from the 3rd person), causes some grief for their harassers (why is there a bucket of flour over the door?!) until the Conspiracy goes off. And SUDDENLY FARM ANIMAL STAMPEED. AUDITORE ESCAPE. TIMELINE FUCKED.
+Auditore family lives. They don't have to be unscathed -I'm partial to Giovanni getting a bit trampled while protecting Petruccio forcing him to retire from missions but this isn't required.
+Desmond takes 'trophies' from his pranks/missions in the form of pillows. He builds a nest for himself out of them because sleeping on a mattress gets complicated when wings are in the way.
+Desmond's wings are big. Stupid big. The only thing saving him from knocking over/into things is his default state of intangibility.
+Petruccio is obsessed with feathers because he always has the same dream when he's sick: a figure in a white hood with spread wings leaning over him singing.
+Federico finishes off Rodrigo (which somehow causes Ceasre to become Pope? Idunno) while Ezio heads into the Vault. Minerva lightshow happens as per usual until Federico comes in all smug about the killing blow and then Minerva has her record scratch. Then rants to 'Desmond' how there is only supposed to be 'one' prophet and the rest are supposed to be dead and how dare he put the Calculation at risk like this... which makes the Auditore's pissed at Minerva. Also, more pressing question of who or what is Desmond?
+Desmond just chilling on top of bookcase when the Apple gets brought out for Altair map activation or something, he isn't paying attention as he's flipping a knife and wishing it was a bottle of Tequila, and suddenly in the backwash of the Apple's glow he becomes visible. Reactions vary from praying to undressing with eyes, and in the silence Desmond looks around and realizes there is nothing behind him. "... shit." THUS BEGINS PART TWO: THE "CARE" AND "FEEDING" OF YOUR GUARDIAN ANGEL. AS WRITTEN BY EZIO AUDITORE.
