The Deal [1/2]

(Anonymous) 2010-12-01 11:07 am (UTC)(link)
For a genius, Leonardo paced a lot. Antonio supposed the man was just worried. The boundless enthusiasm he’d shown when Ezio was around had faded to concern and fear for the assassin’s safety as soon as he had left on his mission to clear the rooftops of archers. Even if this was easier by far than most of Ezio’s missions, the artist still seemed to worry. It all pointed to one glaringly obvious conclusion.

“You are in love with him.”

”Che cosa?” Leonardo replied, attempting a polite but faintly confused smile. While the look may have worked on the guards, Antonio wasn’t fooled. His eyes fixed on Antonio’s, the way men did when they were trying to be good at lying. The trick wasn’t, as many thought, to maintain eye contact: it was to make and break it as regularly as you did in normal conversation. Genius or not, Antonio had spent his life lying and being lied to. He knew how to recognise one when he saw one. The thief smiled, spreading his hands out in an open gesture.

“Come, Leonardo, let us be honest with each other. You are in love with Ezio.”

“And what if I am?”

Leonardo was getting defensive now: Antonio was unsure if that was good or bad. There were definitely good points: it made his cheeks flush in such an interesting way. There was a fire to his voice and a firm set to his shoulders. Best of all, it had stopped the pacing. But a man of his genius could be dangerous if cornered. Antonio would have to be careful.

“That’s up to you,” Antonio replied with a light shrug, stepping closer to the artist. Surprisingly, Leonardo didn’t make the predictable move of stepping back, an action which would have pinned him against the desk. Instead, he stood straighter, looking at Antonio challengingly. This was a man who was proud of whom he was. “Ezio claims you are quite the genius.”

“I am unsure what my intellect has to do with the conversation,” Leonardo replied calmly, but not without venom to his voice. Antonio smiled wider, stepping up alongside the artist.

“I have been craving an intelligent... conversation,” Antonio replied, sounding as though he had merely been craving a cup of coffee. “Perhaps we could reach some sort of an agreement.”

“Such as?”

“It is a deal I think you will find quite favourable. You give me one night. I give you your assassin.”

“Interesting,” Leonardo replied, his blue eyes flicking briefly up and down Antonio’s body. He was considering the offer. Antonio’s smile turned into a smirk, his fingers running down Leonardo’s surprisingly muscular forearms. He wondered what other surprises the artist was hiding. “I was not aware Ezio was yours to give.”

“Perhaps not in the way you are thinking,” Antonio chuckled. “But I can tell you in a matter of moments how to make him yours.” Leonardo’s pupils dilated slightly; he was apparently considering the offer in great detail. Antonio continued, edging in closer.

“Would you like that, bello? To be able to do everything that brilliant mind of yours has thought of?” He ran a hand down the side of Leonardo’s face, moving his own face closer to his. “I wonder how many ways you could draw him to breaking point. I wonder if he would sound the same each time.” His lips were close enough that the artist would be able to feel a soft puff of warm breath whenever he spoke. “Could you make him beg?”

Despite having barely been touched, the artist let out a small whimper. There was a pause which seemed to stretch for an eternity before Leonardo nodded his head. It was a deal. Both would get what they wanted: a night of pleasure for Antonio, and a certain assassin for Leonardo. It was perfect. Antonio pressed his lips against the artists, relishing in the feel of the man trembling beneath him-

-when a large weight collided with him on one side, forcing him across the room. Lightning quick reflexes had him roll on his back in a second, ready to get up and fight, but he was interrupted by the tip of a sword pressed against his neck. His eyes crossed to see the tip before following the blade up to the handle. When he saw the hand gripping it, he realised he shouldn’t be so surprised he had been bested.

“Ah, Ezio, so nice to see you. I take it the mission went well?”

After all, an assassin had to be the best at his game.

The Deal [2/2]

(Anonymous) 2010-12-01 11:09 am (UTC)(link)
“Leave.”

Although Antonio had seen Ezio angry before, he had never heard the assassin sound quite so feral. The words came out as a snarl. Friendship or no, it was clear that Ezio had every intention of using his blade if his orders were not followed. It was almost enough to make Antonio reconsider his next move.

Almost.

“I would, but you see, I just reached a rather beneficial deal with Leonardo.”

Ezio growled, pushing the sword forward slightly. A single bead of blood appeared where the sword pressed against Antonio’s skin. Reflecting, he really should have thought harder about taunting the assassin. Ezio was dangerous enough without having his potential victim pinned. Antagonising him from this position hadn’t been the brightest idea.

“Ezio, it’s perfectly all right,” Leonardo was saying, and from what Antonio could see, he guessed the artist had put a reassuring hand on Ezio’s shoulder. If he had been in a less dangerous position, Antonio might have laughed. Leonardo had had his part of the deal before Antonio had even suggested it. Who else could get this close to Ezio in assassin-mode without being rebuked?

“Leonardo is mine.”

Antonio didn’t need to look to know that Leonardo had turned a brilliant shade of red. He almost laughed when he realised his face was almost the same colour as the hat he wore. It was only the idea of what Ezio might think of his laughter that kept him from doing so.

“Sì, but-“

“No buts,” Ezio growled. “No deals, or conditions, or agreements. You leave, now, and I may not hunt you for trying to take what is mine.”

“To be fair, Antonio,” Leonardo interrupted shakily, causing both men to stare at him, “I think it would be quite impossible for you to hold up your end of the deal now.”

“Indeed,” Antonio replied wryly, with as much sarcasm as he could muster at sword point. “Considering your prize just offered himself up for the taking.”
Ezio looked incredibly confused now, and he eyed Leonardo warily as the artist stepped forward and placed a gentle hand on the side of his face. Leonardo was murmuring to him softly; though Antonio couldn’t hear what the artist was saying, he hoped they would improve his chances of survival. Seeing Ezio was completely enraptured, Antonio used the opportunity to slide out from under his sword and reposition himself. Only once he had positioned himself with the door on one side and Ezio on the other did he interrupt.

“Well,” he said happily, clasping his hands together. “Lovely chatting. We must do this again sometime – though preferably without the sword. Leonardo, it is a shame our deal didn’t work out. And Ezio,” he added, winking at the assassin, “if you are ever looking for a third person, you both know where to find me.”

With both assassin and artist shocked into immobility, Antonio disappeared into the afternoon sun. Maybe if he was lucky, they would take him up on his offer.

I doubt anyone will ever read this fill, given the age of the prompt, but the muses attacked. if anyone does read it, I hope you enjoyed!

Not OP, but I saw, I read, I came. Loved it, especially Ezio's sudden surge of aggression against Antonio over Leonardo. God, so incredibly hot. Part of me is slightly disappointed that Antonio and Leonardo never got it on, but I am more than happy with how things turned out!

EZIO/LEONARDO/ANTONIO SEQUEL, PLEASE?

OMG OMG I thought they were totally going through with it and it was startlingly hot and then Ezio interrupted and it somehow got hotter and UNF. I just love the image of Ezio and Leonardo at the end, where Leonardo has his hand on Ezio's face as he speaks to him. <3

And, um, yes, totally adding to the call for a sequel!
