There was something cold and wet prodding his neck. It was uncomfortable and sent a thrill of nervousness down his spine. Cracking open one eye, Altair saw nothing but a tawny Jackal muzzle in his face. In a fit of panic, he hissed and lunged at the offending nose, clamping his beak (wait…?) down with enough force to puncture it. The canine in question danced away, rearing on it's hind legs and batting at it's sore face with it's one foreleg.

The jackal snarled at him and spat out a string of Arabic curses, but Altair wasn't paying attention. The fact he had wings and delicate feathers instead of arms and white assassin robes was more important. Shrieking, Altair flapped his limbs in a panic, flurries of white feathers flying about the alleyway. Spying the blue sky above, Altair jumped and lunged for the wall, intending to climb it, but with only wings to grasp the stone, he fell and knocked himself into a stupor.

He could only lie there as the jackal he had attacked earlier slunk over to where he lay.

"You are completely useless. Are you done panicking now?" Malik sniffed, his face still bleeding from where Altair had bitten him.

Altair blinked and his sharp beak gaped a little.

"Malik, is that you?"

Malik would have rolled his eyes had he been capable.

"No I am the avatar of Anubis, come to take you for judgement….! Of course it is me you novice. Get off your feathered rump, we need to find somewhere safer. The Assassin's Bureau is not far from here." Malik turned his back to Altair, expecting him to follow.

Altair glanced down at his feet, razor sharp talons replacing worn boots.

"I cannot walk like this!" He splayed his left foot for emphasis. Malik only continued walking away, ignoring the assassin. Altair's eyes narrowed before he leapt up, wings beating before landing heavily on Malik's back.

"Thank you kindly Dai"

"AGH"

Sweet! This is Challanger? OP? Whatever.

I love how this is all Altair's fault. And the fact they can understand eachother.

Can't wait for the next part. The fact that the picture fits in is even better.
