What if Leonardo is a templar?

I know this idea may sound ridiculous, but please give me a chance to explain before stabbing me. I have had this idea since I finished the game and began to look for historical article and movies about Leonardo. And here is what I've found: after Leonardo left Venice, he stayed a very shot period of time at Florence. Then he went to Rome to work for the Pope (Cesare Borgia, the son of Rodrigo Borgia, yeah I think you are beginning to get my idea here). If Rodrigo Borgia was cruel, Cesare Borgia was way beyond his father. So why did Leonardo worked for such a person? Some article said it was because Leonardo had interest in Cesare's special personality, cruel but also powerful enough to gain respect from the people around him. But this is not the only evidence that makes me keep having the idea for month. When Leonardo left Rome, he went back to Florence and stayed for a while. Then he went to southern France and died "in the arm of King France I". According to the background setting of ACII, one of the most powerful base of templars happened to be at southern France. What a coincidence!
But what if Leonardo knew everything about assassins and templars from the very beginning, but he had not made the decision to be ally to either side. He wanted to get close to someone in the secret battle, to observe and made the whole situation more "interesting" at the right time. For example, before the last battle of ACII? After Ezio entered the Vault, listened to the lady's speech which didn't make any sense to him. Then Leonardo followed him into the Vault...
The rest is up to you Anon. Please make this idea become a story. If Leonardo gets top, it would be great for me. After got hit by this idea and finished reading ACII's novel, it's hard for me to let the wise and powerful Leonardo who may behind all incident become submissive.
