He has never asked such a thing before. Sleeping with another man was not a strange thing for him but with Ezio...He had never thought he would be asked to and yet he couldn't refuse. Not at a time like this. Not when his friend, his best friend was suffering.
“If you believe it will help then I will indulge you this once, my friend,” Leonardo nodded, removing his own shoes and climbing onto his bed. Seeing him like this now made him want to hold him, tell him everything would be okay and kiss his sadness away. He would have to settle with tender touches in the place of kisses because he was almost certain Ezio had feelings for only women, the way he talked about them.
The bed was comfortable even if unsuited for two full grown men but they made do and he nearly started at how Ezio gravitated to him right away to hold onto his shirt, resting his head on Leonardo's chest.
“Grazie, you are a true friend, Leonardo.”
He would not be saying such a thing if he knew the effect he had on me. Ezio was handsome-much more handsome than Leonardo himself in his opinion and his charm was not unnoticed by a fellow man. To be anything more than friends would ruin what they had. He could endure this for the person who had brought him happiness with a simple smile or visit.
His hand combed through the mop of brown hair that fell free from the ribbon binding it. Such gestures were calming, he knew and he told himself he had no ulterior motives for being so easy with his affection. I could not take advantage of an emotional state...No matter how the way the other pressed against his side or leaned into his touches he wouldn't take it any further than he already had.
“I am sorry, amico, this must be...uncomfortable.”
“No, if it is to help a friend I am not so uncomfortable,” he massaged Ezio's scalp with firm circles of his thumb in the hopes it would calm him further though it only served to make the assassin's breath hitch and turn to sobs.
No words passed between them and Leonardo was grateful for that because he didn't know what he would have said. Ezio had not had time to mourn his loss considering how he and his family had been pursued for so long and how the necessity to avenge the deaths of his family members had preceded everything else. He didn't mind the wet shirt and pressure on his chest if it meant he could ease some of the pain in Ezio's heart.
“Mi dispiace,” the younger man choked out eventually as if he had to apologize for showing his sadness. It's not something that should be apologized for...he stayed quiet though so as to not bring attention to the outburst of emotion.
