At Desmond's hurt expression, he dropped his arms and leaned forward once more. "Alright, so maybe it's real, but I haven't been contacted by them since I was seventeen. I can't imagine they need me. So, what's the big deal? I'll just continue my life as an up and coming journalist."

Desmond's lips tightened to a thin line. "You can't be so nonchalant about it. Altair is exceedingly important to Abstergo," he said, his hand clenching around the cup.

"Yea, that's Altair, not Malik. So, I'm safe. You're the one that's gotta watch out." Jacob smirked at him. He glanced down at his right wrist. "Look, I have to go to work. Unlike some people I can mention, I don't have the time to wander aimlessly through the New York city streets." He slowly stood up.

Jacob wanted out of this conversation, that much was obvious. The man just wasn't sure how to handle the information. So, he was doing what he could and that, was to leave. Crazy people were never easy to deal with.

Desmond followed suit. He was supremely disappointed. This man was most certainly a descendent of Malik. There was no getting around it. But Jacob also didn't believe a word he was saying. Slight fear that the man would be taken by Abstergo, again, swept through his system.

"Hey, Desmond," Jacob called to him, his voice considerably kinder. "I do believe you, but if there is one thing I've learned about being in the information industry, it's learning when to keep your head down." He reached over and clapped Desmond on the shoulder. "I'll keep a look out for those Abstergo people. Hell, the journalist in me kinda wants to do some research into them."

"Oh please don't," Desmond replied, worry flairing up again. That was how Shaun had gotten in his position, he didn't think he wanted to hear Jacob going through something similar.

Jacob laughed again; the sound was rich and confident. "Don't worry. I told you, I've learned when to keep my head down." He pulled his hand back to reach into his pocket. "I don't know why, but I have the strangest urge to see you safe and at peace." He frowned, confused by the thought. He pulled out a small card. "If you ever need anything, I will do my best to find and help you."

He held out a card to Desmond. Taking the card, he glanced at the name printed there; 'Jacob Malik Almand'. He couldn't help the snort of morbid amusement.

Jacob leaned close. That rough, age-old Arabic voice sounded again. "I will always find the Great Eagle, should he only ask for help."

Desmond blinked and looked over at Jacob. When he opened his mouth, the smooth Arabic returned as well. "The Great Eagle will always need his Hawk."

The smirk on Jacob's face widened. It seemed to care nine hundred years of amusement.

"Safety and peace, novice," Jacob teased and with that, he was out of the Starbucks.

"Safety and peace," Desmond whispered, his hand tightening around the card.

"The Great Eagle will always need his Hawk." /whimpers.

Oh. My. God. Oh my god. Oh my God

About an hour later, Desmond wound his way back to the warehouse. The entire way there, he had been musing about his meeting with Jacob. He was deeply annoyed that it hadn't lasted longer. Even Altair seemed annoyed with it, the pressing memory had all but disappeared, making it extremely easy for the famous Italian to barge back into the scene. Still, Desmond ignored him, his mind too full of an eternity of nostalgia.

Just as he was making his way back inside, Lucy appeared looking very much like a riled up pigeon. Apparently, she hadn't been too pleased with Desmond's disappearance. Whether or not he returned alive, according to her, he had made a very bad choice.

For the next three weeks, all Desmond heard about was how much of an idiot he had been and how he might have jeopardized their entire mission. Then, one morning, Lucy received an e-mail from a rather important man. The e-mail stated that, thanks to Desmond's early morning actions, the Brotherhood now had a descendent of Malik in their hands. And they were going to be using this descendent to help the search for the Apple of Eden.

Nine hundred years of waiting for a man he never thought he would see again and now, his name was everywhere. In the back of his mind, Altair breathed a deep sigh of relief. He was no longer without his hawk. His death-given eternity suddenly didn't seem all that bad.

Now if only Ezio would stop being such a nuisance, then things would be perfect.

The room suddenly got all dusty here anon.

LOVED IT! I could feel Desmond's desperation as he tried to make Jacob understand and I loved how Altair was in there too, trying to reach out to him. Poor Altair, having to wait so long! That was such an enjoyable read and I wish there was more. Thanks so, so much writeanon, much love to you!!! <3

I'm so glad everyone has enjoyed this so much! 8D It was odd trying to come up with a descendent for Malik when, technically, one doesn't exist.

If I find the time, I will most certainly write more. But, for now, I thought that this was a good enough ending.

Well da Vinci is believed to have had a close friendship with Isabella d'Este so perhaps she wheedled him into just one roll in the sheets? To try it with a woman? ~~FOR SCIENCE!~~ XD Idk, I'm just eager to see something with Desmond and Leonardo's descendant so I'm throwing stuff out there.

So I'm not the only one wanting to see this? I won't dare prompting it, since I REALLY like the style writeanon has, so I'd rather have him/her write it. But I'm just being selfish...

The anon who mentioned the Isabella d'Este fact is very much right (this write!anon adores history). Although it was never proven that Maesto Da Vinci had children, it is speculated that he might have had 'relations' with some women.

Historical Fact: Isabella d'Este was called the 'First Woman of the Renissance' which meant that many people of that time considered her to be more of a man than a woman. Machiavelli adored her.
