Ezio prized off the last board and yanked hard, falling backwards as the old wood splintered. Shaun snickered and slapped a hand on the well tailored sleeve, now dusty and covered in long stringy cobwebs. "Nice to get your hands dirty for once, isn't it?"

Ezio scowled, tossed the plank aside and started to brush the dust from his suit.

"Our parents used to own this place," Altair said quietly. "A long time ago." He stepped into the crypt, looking up at the marble faces staring down at the interlopers.

"It's beautiful," Desmond agreed. He left the others, heading for the middle of the room. He waved a hand up at the dome. "That's way too early for this period, I mean it's just . . . it's pretty awesome."

"You could come give us a hand," Shaun called, lugging an armful of lawnchairs towards the middle.

"Hey," Ezio snapped. "Anyway. Longer it takes to do this, you don't have to do any of that pesky forging that we actually hired you for."

"My people have a saying." Shaun dropped the chairs with a clatter of aluminium against tile. He raised his right hand, index and middle finger extended.

"This is productive," Lucy said, following Leonardo into the crypt with the PASIV case in her hand. "This is efficient." Her voice picked up and Leonardo smirked. "I'm sure Borgia Industries will be brought down by this."

Leonardo opened a trestle table and set his case on top. He opened the black plastic as Desmond drifted closer. He removed a set of vials and handed them over. "You'll sleep well, architect."

"Do you still dream?" Desmond asked, turning a yellow tube over in his hands.

Shaun eyed Ezio. Ezio shook his head.

Lucy brushed her hands off and craned her neck to look up at statue at the far end. "Doesn't look much like an ancestor of yours, Altair."

Altair snorted, twisting the gold band on his left ring finger. "I get home, right?"

"My guarantee."
