Dana knows that he is who he is, and she loves him anyway. It's just that she can't handle an extended exposure to that with no breaks at all without wanting to strangle him. No one can.

Dana was a great character even without a whole bunch of screen time. The fact that she still supported and loved Alex though he'd become mutated made her intensely likable. So I didn't mean to make it sound like I was putting her down for arguing with Alex and hurting his feelings, but more like showing sympathy for Alex in general with his loss of humanity or any normal behavioral pattern.
