Fill: Tangled (3/?)
(Anonymous) 2011-01-04 03:52 am (UTC)(link)"I-"
Cesare´s eyes bore into his.
Leonardo pitied him: the poor boy had lost so mch to this cruel world, he must be so afraid. "I will stay, Cesare."
"Good."
Cesare didn´t step back immediately, his grip on Leonardo still painfully tight. He leant close, moved his lips as if to say something, almost as if to kiss, before he wrenched himself away and pushed Leonardo away violently.
Cesare used the pulley system to leave the tower.
When he returned, he always came for more weapons, more designs, but he brought Leonardo no books, no knowledge. He sat very close to Leonardo when he explained his designs, their thighs and shoulders almost brushing. His eyes watched Leonardo´s every move, watched him as a wolf might watch a lamb. Everytime he came, he made Leonardo promise again that he wouldn´t leave, and everytime, it became harder and harder for Leonardo. This tower had no more knowledge for him, every surface was painted with beautiful pictures, everything was old. Still, he pitied Cesare and promised that he would stay.

Fill: Tangled (4/?)
(Anonymous) 2011-11-07 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)On one day, the sun rose and light filled Leonardo´s tower. But this morning brought him something else. Leonardo stood at the window and looked out onto the land he could see. Forest, forest, more forest and a bit of grass.
In the distance, he can hear birds singing. But there is something new today. He can hear faint scratching and then flapping of wings. Leonardo leans over the windowsill when there is a flurry of colors.
Something tiny tumbles onto the wooden sill but Leonardo is transfixed. A large bird, an eagle! It spreads his wings, it calls and looks at him. For one second, Leonardo sees golden light glimmer in its eyes, he sees beyond the feather and sees more, and then the moment is gone, and the eagle flies away. Leonardo can hear it call, and it is the saddest sound he ever heard. It speaks of loneliness, of desire, of "where are you?" and "I´m coming." All too soon is the eagle gone. But it seems as if the eagle has left him a present. And what a peculiar present it is. It´s fluffy, furry and orange. It uncurls and Leonardo sees ears, eyes, a sharp nose...a fox?
And indeed, it is a little fox!
"Hello, little friend," Leonardo says. The fox looks at him with impossible violet eyes. "How did you get up here?"
And even though the fox can´t speak, it is as if he does. He rolls his eyes and moves his paws, imitating the flapping of wings. "Did the eagle really bring you here?"
The fox nods. "Come here," Leonardo beckons it closer with an extended hand. The fox hops onto his hand and Leonardo strokes his fur. It is far softer than it looks.
"You´re my new little friend, yes?"
And again, it is as if the fox said yes.
"You need a name, little fox."
The fox looks at him and tilts his head.
"How do you like Uriel?"
The fox hissed.
"Not Uriel then. Raphael? Gabriel? Also no? You´re going to make this difficult for me, aren´t you?"
Yes, the little fox said without words.
In the end, Leonardo pulled a book from his shelf; a big book which explained the meaning behind names. He was hoarse by the time he reached the names that started with D, but he kept going. His new friend needed the perfect name. He had made Leonardo´s life brighter just by being there.
"Gaston? Gautier? You really don´t like those?"
The fox had curled up into a little ball of fur and let Leonardo pet him.
"Gideon? Gilard? Gilberto?"
At that the fox sat up.
"Gilberto?" The fox climbed up Leonardo´s chemise and nestled close to his heart.
"Alright, Gilberto it is."
Leonardo read silently in the book.
"Derived from pledge or hostage and bright..."
He looked down at the fox and smiled.
"You surely brightened the life of this poor hostage here," Leonardo said and gently petted Gilberto.
"Welcome to the tower."
