With that, Desmond turned and disappeared back up the way he came. Back up onto the roof of the artists apartment, he had to pause. He looked up at the sky and smiled dumbly at it. He didn't know of a single time in his life when all the pieces of him felt totally content with everything. For once, Ezio wasn't mocking his sex-life, Altair wasn't complaining about his 'novice' abilities and he wasn't grumpy over his lot him life. If anything, those two old voices were warm with him and sending more than happy messages.

"Yes," he breathed to himself as he took off back to Monteriggioni.

Centuries of discontent had been soothed. Altair had seen his hawk. Ezio had spoken with his genius. Both of them were more than willing to wait for a little while longer. Their peace would be granted when this was over and they all felt, all three, that the ending would be soon. Desmond breathed a sigh of relief. Things seemed to be looking up.

Now, if only Shaun didn't steal any more yogurt, then things would, truly be, perfect.

I loved both this and Shadows of the Past! Desmond is adorably awkward, and I really like that the descendants are unique characters with their own personalities, rather than simply being modernizations of their illustrious ancestors. ~~And dang if you haven't given me a new OT3!~~ If you ever write more adventures with these guys, I'd love to see it. I'd also be interested in seeing any more of your writing, is there somewhere you usually post?
