Fill: This is not an illusion 1/?
(Anonymous) 2013-11-22 03:50 am (UTC)(link)She'd expected someone like Ichabod. Skinny, confused, lost, and hooked up to a lie detector. A soldier.
The man manacled to the table wasn't by any stretch skinny. (For a moment, Abbie wondered if they'd brought in the Headless Horseman, only with a head - except the real Headless was locked up in the tunnels and Caucasian.) This man was fierce. He was not calm. He was confused. He was hooked up to a machine.
And he wasn't a soldier.
This was a man with more weapons than Jenny and that was saying something. They'd pulled two pistols, gunpowder, bullets, smoke bombs, hunting snares, a sword that Ichabod identified as a Naval cutlass, a hunting dagger, and those two weird bracers with the blades that came out specifically to sneaky stab someone in the throat. (Ichabod had excused himself at that point, unusually uneasy to be examining the belongings of a man that was from the same era.)
And a lock pick set.
And a spare knife in his boot.
Oh, and the beautifully made bow and full quiver of hand-crafted arrows which had one of the forensics kids drooling over.
Also, oddly enough, a bag of animal feed, and a cloth bag containing a golden metal ball.
But yeah. Not standard soldier issue. Maybe standard grumpy-looking Native American warrior issue, and boy didn't that bring back memories of reading Dances With Wolves and The Last of the Mohicans. Not the most accurate portrayal of culture, but curriculum staples nonetheless.
Abbie was eternally thankful for the two-way mirror to observe the native man because oh boy, did he kick up a fit when they touched him to put the wires on for the lie detector. It was a miracle they'd managed to bring him in to begin with.
"Do you know this guy?" asked Abbie.
"Not personally. He was one of the Mohawks that ran jobs for the Patriots. I recall that he was described as a 'mad bastard' and put to hang for the attempted murder of Washington, but pardoned at the eleventh hour. Framed for a traitor," replied Ichabod. He frowned. "I still do not know how or why that happened. For him to betray Washington like that seemed against his nature."
"Washington wasn't exactly a hero to the Native people. Nobody was except themselves," sighed Abbie.
Ichabod leaned closer to the two-way glass, listening intently as the interrogator continued to question the man. Abbie didn't even have a name.
"I am mistaken. He was at the Destruction of the Tea. While my crew were after the chest, he was protecting Adams and his crew. He was much younger than me, maybe twenty years of age at most," Ichabod looked away at the weapons. "I'd rather I didn't meet him face to face. We have different ideologies and he might become aggravated."
"Who is he?" asked Abbie.
"Captain Connor Kenway."
Distracted by Connor's belongings, Ichabod picked up the cloth bag and carefully picked the ties open. Inside was a perfect sphere, gold with darkened lines on the surface forming geometric patterns. He covered it over when Abbie tried to have a better look.
"This is dangerous. It needs to be sealed away," he said.
She frowned at him. It was a strange item to have but it was a gold ball. There wasn't any indication of Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs or anything, and it was being kept in a cloth bag. Surely something with power would be better protected.
Then again, it had come with Connor.
"Are we talking 'in a safevault' sealed or 'blood and magic' sealed?"
There was a clatter from the interrogation room. When Abbie whirled around to see what had happened, she found herself staring into the eyes of their captive. He was still restrained, thankfully, and the noise had been the sound of a falling chair - the interrogator was on her feet but Connor hadn't seemed to make any moves towards escaping.
His eyes flashed gold and it wasn't the light.
"Put it down," he said, turning his head towards Ichabod. "It is not for you."

(Anonymous) 2013-11-22 07:34 am (UTC)(link)Not OP, but I squeak-flailed when this popped in my inbox! I finally caught up with Sleepy Hollow, and a crossover with AC3 and that awesome series is just what I needed to see! *huggles writeanon* I like that you have Ichabod knowing of Connor through their mutual friends.
