Desmond's badassery is unfortunately inextricably tied up with his insanity. Isn't that why he went into Ezio's memories in the first place? So he could learn by reliving, ie get Ezio's skills through Bleeding Effect? (I've never played the Ezio games, so I don't know for certain.) So the Bleeding Effect makes him a master of a bunch of weapons and fighting styles, and a polyglot, but it also makes him confused and emotional at inappropriate times, plus the hallucinations, and then some squicky dreams...

I'm glad you like this scene! I wasn't feeling ready to write the next 2012 segment, or to tackle the next big plot point (A WILD UNMAPPED ISLAND APPEARS!) on Connor's Cruise Line, so I was just putting in a little scene that didn't fit anywhere in particular.

Real Life is... well, whatever. Haythamgate seems to have resulted in a lot more time to play Assassin's Creed games and write fanfic, and a lot more privacy and fewer demands on my time. Plus the awesome term Haythamgate. Unfortunately it has also resulted in a lot more awkwardness and a complete lack of physical affection. And yes, I can be fairly Connor-like about being touched, but I do like a little cuddling and stuff. Oh and I now have a severely decreased amount of respect for someone I used to want to spend the rest of my life with. But hey, at least next time I'll know to bail a lot earlier at certain warning signs. But yes, I'm doing okay. Thanks :)

Still laughing at her about Haythamgate, though. Because who wouldn't?
