Mirror, Mirror - A!A note and a teaser

A!A is still working on the next half of the chapter. They ran into a few snags and then a few random books, and realised they had accidentally forgotten a few important facts. So, the part 6b will be delayed somewhat more. On the bright side, part 7 will start introducing the game-canon. And quite a lot of parts 7, 8 and 9 have already been written.

Have a teaser, though, as compensation for the delay. :)





Firenze, April 8th, 1476

Leonardo spent the morning being even more unproductive than usual; instead spending his time alternating between nursing a tremendous hangover and cursing friends with too much wine; the noisy city; his own inability to say no; and the world in general. And, right after lunch - cold soup and half a slice of bread - he added unwanted visitors to that list when someone decided to hammer away at his door.

“Madre di dio,” he grumbled under his breath, “I’m coming, I’m coming!” and wrenched the door open with his best scowl and an annoyed “What?!”

Two of the three fully armed guards outside jerked briefly in surprise, though their leader remained unfazed. “Leonardo di Ser Piero da Vinci?” he asked, scowling in return.

Leonardo swallowed, sudden panic clawing at his gut. “Si?”

“You are hereby under arrest by the order of Gli Ufficiali di Notte, by the accusation of engaging in sodomy.”

And the clawing feeling in his gut became that of his entire world falling to pieces around him.

A!A has not given up on this story just yet, despite the time passing. A!A is just busy with tons of projects, and find themselves dug extremely deep in research on Florentine criminal justice when they finally have a bit of time on hand. There will be an update, and A!A will see this story to the end (barring possible hit-by-a-truck-events, but those will only have happened if A!A stays quiet for two months).

New reader anon would like to say take your time and thank you for the notification! I'll definitely be adding this to my bookmarks list and waiting it out. I really like how you're striving to be historically accurate in this, I find it quite impressive. Also, I love all of the looks into Leonardo's head, especially his little inventing trains of thought: it vaguely reminds me of some of my favorite Tony Stark personalities from my forays into the Avengers fandom, so it's nice. But, yeah, great fill so far! I'll make an effort to become another devoted commenter, since you seem to be lacking in the number you deserve.

Still working on this. Currently on three pages and counting; A!A has just managed to hit a long stretch of time that left them with little to no time to actually do any writing. They are still 100% determined to get this done. Just... well... need more hours in the day first...

A!A hopes to get the update up within a week or two (saying that very carefully). Still working on trying to wrap up this long and emotionally exhaustive chapter.
