Hold your HaythCon horses, anons

(Anonymous) 2014-05-22 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
DaaaYYYUUUUM, that is a lot of HaythCon.
How about we mix it up juuuust a little bit and have some fluffy HaythZiio?
(ooh, Captcha: The name of Paul is? ConPaul *Clears throat*)

Methinks that anon is desperate for some HaythCon hh? Haha :)

Haytham and Ziio are so cute together, I hope someone fills this

Passerby!Anon agrees. Seems someone hasn't caught onto the "please don't add several prompts in the row for the same thing" unwritten rule...

That said, seconded for Haytham and Ziio. Especially if the A!A can write their epic snark battles.

Another passerby!anon here. If a rule is unwritten, then it does not exist, so mind your own business.

Yet another anon here-
One would consider it good form to generally 'do as the others do' regarding unwritten 'rules'
Even if one is new to this kink meme I would expect that they'd pick up on the fact that we don't tend to post several of the same pair in a row. Maybe that's just my cautious nature, but this is the formula I follow for everything, especially when the instructions aren't clear such as any rule about prompting the same thing over and over again.

Are you talking about OP being desperate for HaythCon? Because I am very much so not.
I kind of hate it, actually.
But for a good reason; I am very, very close to my father and male cousins, so whenever I see HaythCon or Audicest, all I can think of is me and my family members doing... that. It grosses me out to no extent and sometimes I have to distance myself from them for a while, because I love them so much, but I get physically sick to the extent of nausea and shakes(Just once, though, have I actually thrown up.)
I respect and understand that some people love the thought of father and son or brother/brother or whatever doing intimate couples things, and I'll never call anyone out for their kinks. (Hell, one of my biggest kinks is freaking tentacles and being anally stuffed, so...) I just don't like it.
It's one of the reasons I created this prompt, but I really just kinda wanted to see some HaythZiio, or by suggestion from Captcha, ConPaul and some touchy freely horse rides. (Yes Connor, let me jerk you while you steer! Left, Connor, Left! No, yelling is not stealthy and we are trying to be stealthy, but I have been told you are half deaf!)

I actually had the idea of that "Listening to Eagles" prompt as a gen thing (not HaythCon) where it's actually something of a running family tradition that three generations of Kenway men have heard the eagle's cry... unaware that it's actually afterlife!Ezio, because it's the only form in which he can be nice to them (because for some reason he just keeps throwing shade at the entire Kenway line whenever he's in human form).

W.o.a.h
Do it

Re: Hold your HaythCon horses, anons

(Anonymous) 2014-05-24 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh... the idea assumed a bunch of headcanons, such as Ezio not being that "saintly" an Assassin in life, and the ancestral memories as rendered by the Animus actually being how the Ancestor chose to remember their life up til the next descendant was conceive).

The idea was that whenever afterlife!Ezio's in "ghostly human" form, he actually looked down on the Kenway line due to a bit of a classist bias (or rather, a bit more of a "savior on a white horse" mentality than he ever copped to in the games), so I hesitate to write it due to the idea that it'd be viewed by readers as really OOC for him, and possibly all of my takes on the Kenways might be looked upon so. *frowns*

Passerby!anon thinks you should post this as a seperate prompt. :D Sounds like it could actually be fun to fill with the various ancestors (to say nothing of how it means Edward sees himself)

Unfortunately here's all I came up with (1/1)

(Anonymous) 2014-05-26 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
In one of his last waking moments at the Green Dragon Inn in between states of inebriation, Charles Lee realized to his sullen displeasure that what he had imagined at the time -- his Grand Master of the Colonial Rite, Haytham Kenway, heroically throwing Charles from Fort George to safety then in the same motion wheeling about with sword brandished to hold off his Assassin bastard -- had been an illusion, a trick of the light... perhaps of Charles' heart.

On the contrary, Haytham had kept his eye and front towards Charles as he first fell, even crouched slightly and hunched forward with legs together as if making to leap after Charles... yet somehow Haytham had hesitated, his expression expectant and his eyes possibly having been looking past or through Charles, and the last thing that Charles had actually seen (though he did not recognize it at the time) had in fact been Haytham's tight-lipped frown as he had uncurled and straightened himself, dissatisfied to not see what he'd hoped to see, and in the moments before a white-robed warrior passed into his sight, Charles wondered what Haytham had hoped to see. Before an Assassin's blade drove into his heart, he'd already been struck there with the thought: did Haytham die in vain, having found Charles wanting in that final moment?

What Charles did not -- could not have -- know(n) was that Haytham had not sought to see, but rather to hear; that Haytham was expecting, listening for, and then finally hoping for a companion of decades past, unseen yet closer to him than anyone in his life, be they Edward, Tessa, Jennifer, Reginald, Ziio, Connor, or Charles... a voice which had never spoken words yet followed him across every ledge and every rooftop, and whose only sound was an eagle's cry. In youth, he had learned that this call corresponded with his nearing of a high wall or roof's edge as if to signal when he could take a Leap of Faith to safety, and so he'd used it as accompaniment and confirmation of his own judgment, but in his later years he'd come to rely upon it, as his strength began to fade and his footing grew less firm and his training became the secret of his survival in greater proportion than before.

It would be on this fatal and final night however that at long last the voice had spoken words, all in an instant, far quicker than lips could have formed them and delivered before Haytham could even think to rebut them. Instead of guiding him, the voice had instead laughed at Haytham, had deigned to not only laugh but belittle Haytham's character and accomplishments, noting that to save Charles was to condemn the Colonial Rite to ignimony alongside the Colonial Brotherhood, that even then Connor had still left behind a greater legacy in both number and merit, so to spare Charles was to die in vain. The voice then made a show of complimenting Connor for 'rising above his station' -- that of a Kenway -- before dryly noting how much of himself Haytham had owed to Reginald Birch (as badly as that had ended), before adding that even the life he'd led before that night with the mercenaries had in actuality been owed to his mother's wealth and his father's pardon.

From there, the voice descended into an absolutely sneering look at the life of Edward James Kenway before he'd met Tessa Stephenson-Oakley and contrasted it with that of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, the legendary Mentor (to all others, if Grand Master in his own mind) of old, with the voice alternately remarking along the way that in life Edward had been the sort of cutthroat that Ezio had fought off, counterattacked and then suppressed during his Roman tenure, "admitting" to a disagreement with the late Caribbean Assassins for what the voice deemed to have been their taking pity on Edward by inducting him and thereby "mucking up" their cleanliness with his n'er-do-well's filth, and needling Haytham with a mocking retelling of Aesop's fable about a jackdaw who believed himself an eagle. Finally, for its grand conclusion the voice resolved to honor Connor's achievements properly by instead addressing him as Connor Davenport the Second, before going silent.

As he watched Charles fall away to safety and over the muted footfalls of his son's moccasins, and for the first and last time, without the eagle's cry to confirm, guide, or even reassure him, Haytham Kenway chose at long last not to take a Leap of Faith...

... and as he choked his son to near-death, his words not having risen to the level of his own expectation of a Grand Master's comportment but instead falling to the level of his Templar indoctrination, he could not hear over himself how the eagle was reminding Connor of where to find the release on his hidden blade, just where to aim its point, and even how to tell his left arm to make the appropriate motion, and when the moment came Haytham could not hear over himself when the eagle cried to Connor: NOW!

Well the OP prompt on that DOES have it listed as "& or /" so it could be gen or slash. So I say go for it. It's a cool prompt.

Re: Hold your HaythCon horses, anons

(Anonymous) 2014-05-25 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Oops, above Anon again. I misread. It wasn't the Listening to Eagles one that had that. Huh, I thought it was. Well, I really like the idea, so why not ask Prompter!Anon if they wouldn't mind gen? I don't see why not?

Re: Hold your HaythCon horses, anons

(Anonymous) 2014-05-24 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man now I'm confused. The desperate anon I was talking about was the one who posted like five HaythCon prompts in a row, not you, the OP of this post???

That's cool you're close to your dad and male cousins. I dont really know my father so hes more of an abstract concept to me, so I guess the guilt doesn't quite hit me as hard as you? (well no it definitely doesn't, I haevnt been sick :( and im sorry you have)

Re: Hold your HaythCon horses, anons

(Anonymous) 2014-05-24 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
It's okay. OP was also confused. XD

Re: Hold your HaythCon horses, anons

(Anonymous) 2014-05-24 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
I swear, if nobody fills any of the Haythcon prompts, I am going to have a fit of hysterical laughter.

Re: Hold your HaythCon horses, anons

(Anonymous) 2014-05-25 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Well that's rather rude don't you think? I thought prompt/pairing shaming wasn't allowed. I don't think you would like someone to say that about your prompts so it's not exactly good manners to do it to another prompter. This Anon might just try to tackle one of them now just because.

Re: Hold your HaythCon horses, anons

(Anonymous) 2014-05-25 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
No no no no, you've got me all wrong, anon! I'm not shaming. I love Haythcon, I'm just saying that I'd find it kind of funny if nobody filled ANY of the nine-some prompts up there, 'tis all. I used to post a bunch of genderswap prompts, and nobody ever filled mine. I laughed at MYSELF back then for not getting any fills. I guess that was a little rude, but in no way was I trying to be mean. Accept my apology?
And by all means, go fill one! I'd love to read it.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-26 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Heya, OP on those HaythCon prompts. Had to figure out what Anon was talking about and went hunting. I get what your saying... I just stumbled upon this meme the other day and I've never participated in a kink meme before. So I just read the posting rules and posted the prompts I had sitting around a doc on my Google Drive. Certainly didn't mean to cause a ruckus. Nor do I know of any "unwritten rules" as someone else pointed out. Heck, I saw one post talking about the decline of the meme after I went bavk to look through all the posts to find some things to fill in return... so really, the reception hasn't exactly been encouraging to want to stay from various things I read (and no those other things weren't from you- well, I guess I can't say for certain with us all being Anon, lol, but hopefully you get what I mean... I'm just dropping this here in reply as a whole of what all was posted above. But yeah, we're all good Anon... dunno about some of the others above who were borderline prompt shaming and certainly weren't doing anything to make me feel welcome or make me feel like I wanna fill prompts for others now. Seriously... like we all have expierence with these types of memes? I read the written rules and believe I followed them. Nuiances of how things work come with TIME. Now I know certainly, but when did people have to be so rude about things rather than simply going "oh, newb is obvious, lets inform the Anon so they can know"? Sheesh.

OP of this sort-of-prompt-sort-of-discussion ,
I know I may have conveyed the wrong message. I'm seriously not trying to make anyone feel unwelcome, or anything of the sort. I just got nauseous and wanted a little bit of an escape because of my overactive imagination. Please, if you feel offended in any way, I'm really, really sorry. I admit, I may have let loose a little two much, but I'm sorry.
We all learn from experience on this meme, and I think I speak for us all when I say that we should be more forgiving. You're new. You don't know the unwritten rules. You deserve a pardon of sorts. Now that we've resolved this (Sort of, XD), how about all you NotNauseous!Anons get to filling for our HaythCon!Anon? All this unhappiness and plus the Anon below who thinks we shouldn't be able to have non-con kinks is really putting me off, and I'd rather have a steady flow of prompts and fills on various subjects than all this negativity. Misunderstandings have been understood, now let's move on together, everyone. :)

Re: Hold your HaythCon horses, anons

(Anonymous) 2014-05-27 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
No problem Anon. No harm, no foul. Glad we sorted things out. :) And yes, I must agree with your comments about the post below with all the preaching. I don't like non-con but you won't see me trying to make everyone who does feel bad about it. Sheesh! I'm working on filling some older prompts on this post myself. I kindda feel bad they never got filled. :\

Re: Hold your HaythCon horses, anons

(Anonymous) 2014-05-27 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
We have all been new to kinkmemes, dear New!Anon, and we heartily welcome new people!

However, you must admit that it's a bit hilarious that you managed to post 9 prompts for HaythCon within 40 minutes - considering that we normally get maybe a prompt a day on good days. And that is merely what we poke fun at.

A good rule of thumb, though, is to only post one prompt at a time for a specific pairing, and give people a day or two to catch that one. After all, us poor writers need time to read the prompts and start feeding the plotbunnies!

Re: Hold your HaythCon horses, anons

(Anonymous) 2014-05-27 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I get that now, but I didn't know just how active or inactive this kink meme was. Like I said, I just posted the prompts I had saved up on my drive before starting to explore. Obviously that was a mistake on my part so I'll be more careful to not post so many prompts at once from now on.

Thanks for the welcome, and the understanding.

Ah, well it seems I misunderstood your statement. I apologize as well. No harm, no foul. :)
