Shay/Hope - angry sex

(Anonymous) 2014-12-16 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
i feel like there's so much sexual tension between these 2, and all those innuendos Hope drops ("you have more endurance than i expected, Shay") doesn't help!

so if any kind and willing anon!writer can rewrite that certain scene in rogue so Hope and Shay stay inside the warehouse to... hash things out, it'd be much appreciated! (it's sequence 6, memory 2, if you need the exact part ;3)

bonuses:

+ if Hope is the one to initiate sex and tops for a while.
++ if Shay tries to be gentle, but Hope's manhandling of him makes him go "fuck it".
+++ lip-biting and hair-pulling and all around roughness.
++++ if no one dies!

Seconded! I came out of Rogue shipping it hard, and was so disappointed Hope died.

Thanks for the spoilers, anon. Other random!non can add another reason to the mile-long list of why she's never going to play Rogue.

So sorry anon, I didn't even think twice since I figured the spoiler was already in the prompt, and that was really stupid in hindsight.

It's okay, non. Random!non was having a bad morning and was already fuming about the Adé death prompt a page or two back, and just Rogue in general. Sorry for the contemptible comment seeping with sarcasm. Non still isn't going to play Rogue though, she's just extremely uncomfortable with the concept of playing as a Templar, and from what she knows, killing those you've come to love.

... you must have hated AC3 with a burning passion, then...

Assuming you're talking about the Templar-ery, I didn't, in fact. Of course, there were parts that I hated. Playing as Haytham wasn't so bad until I learned the true nature of his work. Then I became very angry. Then I read Forsaken, or at least bits and pieces so that I knew the basic backstory, and I became more willing to stop being a dork. and met Hickey. That boy could preach algebra and I would be intrigued and amazed Killing Haytham also sucked a dick and a half, because he really did become one of my more adored characters, but what got me was Connor writing "I have made a mistake"(or something along those lines) under Haytham's portrait after his death. I did like being opened up to the Templar ideology, though, and not just told EXTERMINATE, EXTERMINATE. I was considering getting Rogue, but Adé is too much. I just can't. And I'm kind of done with Ubi lately anyway. First, people bitch about Desmond being plain, so instead of spicing him up a bit, they kill him and replace him with a faceless, thoughtless, mute, nameless protagonist who cannot do anything but get screamed at from motherfucking John from IT and twiddle their thumbs. My life's also been getting pretty depressing lately, and I get really into the AC games, and I know they're going to be sad. People you love will die in the most tragic way possible. The ending will leave you shaking in anger or rolling on the floor in a river of snot, spit, and tears. Ubisoft will make you even more angry than you were before. I, personally, just am not apt to handle that right now. It's kind of a mix of personal reasons and my own fricklefracked moral code that keeps me from thinking I can stomach a Ubi game right now.

And... uh, I'm really sorry for vomiting trash all over your prompt. I ranted and I feel like an asshole and a troll, and I'm really, really sorry. If you'd like to discuss this more, other!non, I'm sure we can take it to the discussion thing and not further ruin OP's prompt with our garbage, unless OP is okay with our terribleness? Eheh, sorry.

Captcha: How many body parts in the list? Hand, foot, church, and church. Nah. Killing Church was hella fun because he was a little pissbaby.

Spoiler!anon would also like to apologize to OP since they accidetally started all of this.

Having said that, I agree with the frustration. Adé's death was awful, and as hard as I tried I could never like Shay as much as I did the other protagonists because of it. And yeah, it's a shame about Desmond. No matter how you look at it, how they replaced him is just lazy writing, and I'd have expected better. Then again maybe not, because as soon as some fans complained about Connor being boring they dropped him like a hot iron, nevermind that he's easily one of the most complex characters in the series. And now Ubi is selling us a game full of really dumb glitches while going on about how state of the art it is, with a protagonist that's more or less Ezio 2.0 right down to the hairstyle. I think their main problem is this haste to make a new game every year, nevermind if it's going to be good or not, they can just make another one. I know I don't have a right to bitch about it, but I wish they had more respect and love for their own characters. There are so many wonderful ones they just throw under the bus for cheap drama, and I hate that. They're not even making narrative points with it, they just like to kick us in the feels when we're already down.

I'll shut up now while I still can, but again I'm sorry for the spoiler, and I hope you feel better soon, anon.

op!anon here and she is ok with the discussion taking place :)

i also echo some of your sentiments, especially with desmond.
but for what it's worth Shay is pretty likeable, he isn't the blood thirsty assassin hunting templar that the trailers make him out to be.
though how they dealt with ade was unsatisfying to say the least...

OBS, potential spoilers

Well I liked that we got to see Adé's death. I think it would have been worse if he was just dismissed from the continuity and not included in Rogue. For me it sort of gave closure to one of my favorite characters. Moreover it was dignified in both Adé's and Shay's actions. There were no gloating or true cruelness in it, but kind of bittersweet (an echo of Haytham's death or maybe his death was the echo of Adé's.) The only unfulfilling bit for me was that we saw no real interaction between Adé and Haytham. And that there weren't more of them both in the game.

But: To those who are saying that Adé's death was too much I would like to ask exactly what was too much? Was it the way that he died or the fact that you as the player killed him or the fact that he died (which should be kinda given, him being a 18th century pirate and all that)?

on Adé

op!anon here.

spoilers!!

for me, the reason i found it unsatisfying was because i was expecting something more epic when Shay kills Adé.
i mean i guess it's pretty realistic, the way it was portrayed... to Shay, Adé was just another target after all, and there aren't really any grandiose boss fights in assassin's creed (well... except for maybe the last fight in the first game)

i'm glad he was in the game, don't get me wrong, but it definitely feels like he was demoted to extra (and rightfully so since the main character is Shay, but it's still... just unsatisfying. i can't think of any other word to describe it.)

i'll have to replay that memory and see if it's better now that i know what to expect. and what not to.

also, i'm still dying for this fic if anyone wants to fill it?
*wiggles eyebrows*

For spoiler!anon it was that they made me, the player, kill one of my favourite characters. I loved Adé from the beginning, and I liked Shay, and the game forcing me to kill him was so jarring for me - yeah, maybe in a narrarive sense a logical conclusion and better than having him dismissed from the continuity, but on a personal level I'd have preferred that over having to kill him. If he had been killed by another character, or by Shay while I was playing as someone else, I'd have been mad but I could get over it. Like this it leaves a really bitter taste though, and I'm not imressed by how Ubi handled his death at all. Can't say I didn't see it coming seeing how the game is based on a Templar perspective and the Assassins are the enemy, but I can't help but think having the player as Shay kill Adé, of all people, was unnecessarily harsh.

Thank you for the replies :-)

I can totally understand why killing Adé was upsetting and I meant no offense to anybody. I am just curious because to me at least his death was less upsetting than Haytham's in ACIII and not one of my complaints with the game.

Maybe it's because it wasn't patricide or felt as horribly wasteful to me (god, how I wanted to smack both Kenway Sr. and Jr.), but I appreciated it. Not that I wouldn't have preferred a happy ending, I am a sucker for it but to me at least it would be worse if he just disappeared of the annals of history. Especially as it to me would seem queer for an AC character of Adé's skill, knowledge and importance to not be included in a game set in the the colonies during the seven year war.

And I liked the execution of it. It felt like natural culmination to Shay's story.

I liked the regard Shay still had for Adé; and doesn't that say something about the man? How he despite Shay's extreme disillusionment with the order still instilled respect and almost reverence in him. Shay is almost begging Adé to absolve/forgive him. I liked the way Adé stayed true to his beliefs to the end and did not waver. The expression on Shay's face when Adé accuses Shay of becoming a monster killed me. It was one of the true/last moments of doubts Shay had. I would have liked for them to have explored it further, but Haytham had to be Haytham and butt in.

But I suppose it comes down to personal preference. To misquote Faulkner horribly, I prefer to kill my darlings myself. It's something about the gut punch it gives that makes it worth investing in the storyline for me (and not just skipping sequences). But AC is a bit bad at balancing the happy with the sad, though.

To OP!anon
I totally hope somebody fills the prompt ;-D Didn't ship it coming out of Rogue, but your prompt totally made me. And it would so be Hope who would initiate it. She probably would have to hassle him a bit into the rough bit.

but what got me was Connor writing "I have made a mistake"(or something along those lines) under Haytham's portrait after his death.
There's a cut dialogue line where, in their final encounter, first Connor once more asks Haytham to break the cycle of violence with him, then finally begs for Haytham's life, but both times Haytham rebuffed him ("breaking the cycle of violence = fantasy" and them being mortal enemies) having his mind set on at least one of them dying... if those lines had been included, I might have wondered if Connor had written that phrase under Haytham's portrait out of regret that he didn't get to know Haytham more before killing him (I very much got "either you kill me or I WILL kill you" from Haytham's cut line), or that he in the end couldn't persuade Haytham.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-17 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish they had kept those lines. I always thought that they were very much in character for both of them, and really showed their individual struggles and outlooks on life.
