Re: Fill
(Anonymous) 2018-11-04 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)I feel like immortals have to stay grounded in the present one way or the other or they’ll lose their connection to the rest of the world. I mean sure, badass killers assassins are still useful, but since immortal assassins are alone, they have to diversify their skills or they’ll be basically useless.
C’mon, you know all those egos would clash, like, all the time. All those guys used to leading having to work together? Shenanigans have to ensue. See also Ezio knowing what’s best for Connor/Desmond.
Not gonna lie, I thought about writing comment fic for this scenario for like five seconds, then realise this would need actual work and planning so that’s not happening.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-05 03:13 am (UTC)(link)I totally agree about the diversifying skills thing, which fits in perfectly with Altair "I cracked Apples and Discs with pre-industrial schooling" Ibn'La Ahad. And Ezio and him would clash ALL THE TIME. But, like, I also feel as though through meeting his hero Ezio wouldn't be disappointed? Altair isn't the most cuddly of Assassins, and he wouldn't have a load of answers for him, but like... I dunno?
Altair always seems to move with purpose, which Ezio kinda needs? And Ezio would work on thawing Altair out, making a bond which Ezio is damn good at, and then when Connor comes into the picture? New little brother to spoil! And Connor secretly loves it? Because now he has a Family that won't die so easily... and boy did that thought take a turn for the dark.
Re: Fill
(Anonymous) 2018-11-07 02:04 am (UTC)(link)I had a vague idea that once Altaïr realised he was immortal and couldn’t fake being a normal person, he faked his own death and started helping the Order from afar. That means keeping up, but also staying away and alone. So once he hears about the apple in Italy, he starts paying attention. He wasn’t exactly expecting Ezio would become immortal, but it’s not like he didn’t think it would happen to someone sooner or later. And Ezio might be a kid with a lot to learn from his point of view, but he’s not the worst. He managed to straighten the Brotherhood, somewhat. Altaïr probably can do something with him. He also has to deal with having someone around for the first time in a very, very long time, and that’s gonna take work on both side. So add Ezio, who Did Not Expect immortal assassin Altaïr to 1) appear out of nowhere, and 2) try to boss him around. Ezio is not letting that happen. And he’s going to take all the knowledge Altaïr has to offer, whether Altaïr wants to or not. Altaïr does not want. So they’re a bit wary and a bit impressed by each other, and they try to make that work. With time, they get used to each other. Ezio reminds Altaïr of his own time within the Order, of dealing with people would could and would challenge him. It helps. He opens up with time. For Ezio, yes, Altaïr would rein him in when he needs to be. He could be the voice of reason he usually ignores, but Altaïr isn’t the type to let himself be ignored.
So I guess by the time Connor shows up, they’re both pretty settled with each other. They’re fine with taking a new protégé under their wing. They knew it would happen sooner or later. And if you think Ezio isn’t going “I’m not the youngest now!”, you’re wrong. He lords it over Connor for decades if not centuries. Plus, he has experience with dealing with closed off assassins who don’t like people by now. He’s a pro at this. Connor stands no chance. And omg yes, Connor would finally get the not terrible/dying family he deserves! He’s so happy behind his grumpy façade! After he deals. Boy needs therapy. He will Not enjoy seeing the people of the Homestead grow old and die, damn it. Ezio and Altaïr probably move him somewhere else to stop him from obsessing. Also, they give him hugs. Because Connor needs hugs.
…Sorry, that got way too long.
