They stayed like that for a while, just laying on the bed side by side, barely touching each other. Then Ezio sat up and reached for his shirt. As he watched him started to get dressed again, Cesare suddenly felt cold at the thought that this was over.

"Please don't go," he said, almost pleading. Ezio turned back to look at him. He was still smiling, but it was a melancholic smile, almost sad.

"I have to," he replied. "I warned you. Only this one time. I want this as much as you want it, and I've wanted it for a long time, too. But it's wrong, nevertheless. You're too young, and none of us is free to choose. We can't do it again".

"I am free to choose". Cesare stood up, not caring that he was naked, trying to look proud and self-confident as he spoke. But Ezio just shook his head.

"No, you're not. You know better than I do that your father would never accept someone taking what belongs to him. And I am his property. I'm not yours to take and I'll never be. We'll have to face it".

He stopped to put his shoes on, then turned his back and headed for the door. He was about to step out of the room when Cesare, once again, called him back.

"I'll get you out of here".

"What?" Ezio turned back, staring at him, astonished. "Good Lord, you're only fourteen. Do you really think you can help me? No one can".

"Well, I think I can". There he stood, in the middle of the room, hands clenched into fists, face slightly flushed; his heart racing like crazy as he spoke. "There must be a way to help you run away from here, and I swear I'll find it. No matter how long it will take or how dangerous it can be. I'm not afraid of my father".

Ezio sighed. "You're crazy".

"No," Cesare answered. "But I love you".

"So, are you really going to help me? And pray, would you just tell me how are you planning to do that?"

Lucrezia looked at him with slight disbelief. Cesare shrugged.

"I didn't exactly think about that. Yet. But you can be sure I'm doing it. Father has no right to keep him here. And I really love him".

"Listen to me". She put his hand on Cesare's shoulder, and for once she looked sincerely worried. "I admit that watching the two of you have sex was probably the hottest thing I've ever seen. And I'll admit that you have some sort of crush on him, too, that's pretty much normal. But you can't do this. Father will kill you. Both of you. And you know he will. Sad as it is, Ezio is right, Father will never let you take what is his".

"Only if he knows it was me," Cesare replied. He was looking more stubborn than ever, and suddenly Lucrezia felt sure that he wasn't going to give up, not this time. Oh, this was going to mean trouble. "And he won't. If Ezio manages to run away, they won't catch him anymore. He's too strong, and too smart fort them. Father will never know that I helped him".

"And I suppose you were thinking that I was going to help you with this?"

"Well, yes". A soft blush spread on Cesare's cheeks as he looked up to his sister. "At least help me find a way to do it. You're way smarter than me. You've always been".

"You're crazy," Lucrezia sighed. "But yes, I'm going to help you. Only because I know you'd be lost without me, though. And I'd never want Father to have you killed. Life here would be even more boring than it already is without you. And since you seem determined to do this, it looks like I have no other choice".

She stood up, and he followed. Sometimes he just wondered how could anyone in the world not be in love with his sister.
