There have been a lot of fics dealing with how the Animus has screwed around with Desmond mentally. So I want to see something dealing with the effects sitting around 24/7 has had on his BODY.

Is he eating enough? Sleeping enough? Wasting away? Is he getting pudgy? Is it making Des depressed or something else? I haven't written anything in a long time, so I hope that this isn't too bad. Sorry if it's not what OP wanted.

He couldn't remember his own name anymore. He was Subject 16 and Subject 16 was he. So many lives and memories cramed into his head that it felt like his head would rip apart trying to contain it all. He couldn't remember his own life, yet he knew the intimate details of a dozen other lives. The headaches are getting worse.

Lately, he had been Altair Ibn' La-ahad. A life spent in Masayf, subservient yet arrogant. And Malik wished to strangle him. That man had been responsible for his brother's- no! Malik's brother's death. No matter what the Master said, his grief and rage did not diminish. Half the time he was shoved into the Animus by burry faces with names he can't remember, he had fallen into Malik's life. Experienced his pain, his frustration.

Syncing with Altair was becoming a struggle. Too often, he felt Malik's feelings bleeding over even while he Altair. He remembered events from two different sets of eyes, two different frames of mind. It made Subject 16 want to claw at the walls of his mind. Control was slipping away.

He had slammed his head against the Animus so many times late at night, trying to keep focus, to not be anyone but Subject 16. He needed to let someone know the truth. A truth that his ancestors did not know. Malik's disgust would not help him, neither would Altair's arrogance.

The machine could not stop him from being both Malik and Altair. The truth did not give his mind stability. But, when it was finished, he could let go. Subject 16 could stop being Subject 16. Only, there were no clues to let the next Subject know what to look for.

So many voices told him the way. Malik suggested his arm was best, and Subject 16 saw no reason not to. Losing it was liberating, and the pain let him see. The blood let him tell the Truth. And when it was done, he could sit back and listen to the voices congratulate him. French, Italian, Arabic, all flittering through his mind. Subject 16 could finally rest, even if there was no peace in the end.

Ugh, too short. Hope this isn't too horrible since it's my first fill.

I'm a sucker for "Ezio and his assassin recruits" stories, so how about Ezio getting taken care of by his merry little band? Maybe he gets sick for a few days or gets (not grievously) injured. As long he's confined to bed/his quarters at the Tiber Island hideout so that the recruits can hem and haw and fuss over him to make sure he gets better. It'd be a reversal from him constantly worrying over them.

Bonus points if Claudia, Maria and Leonardo get word of Ezio's illness and are hilariously sympathetic with the recruits' (hilarious and "They obviously look up to Il Maestro's") complaints about Ezio being such a big baby.

Ezio walked out of the Colosseum, just discovering Machiavelli is not the traitor La Volpe thinks he is. He whistles for his horse, and run-mounted it and hurried over to the place they'd meet.

Arriving at the Thermae, he noticed it was awkwardly silent, though people were out. He saw the man he never truly doubted standing on the exact other side of the old Thermae, and La Volpe casually approaching the man he blamed for all the mishaps happening lately. Machiavelli would never suspect a thing, and he wouldn't even be able to defend himself.

Not that he was weak. Ezio had seen the man battle, and he knew, under that uptight appearance rested a muscled body.

But Machiavelli's muscled body would be a dead one if he didn't hurry right now. He leaped over the ledges and landed right between Machiavelli and La Volpe. He turned to wise fox and told him casually about his findings from before. The way he told it, Machiavelli wouldn't know of La Volpe's lack of faith in him, and everybody would remain friendly to one each other.

"Thank you Ezio, you saved me from making a mistake." La Volpe said goodbye and walked off, leaving Ezio and the strategist alone. When the last thief that had been positioned on the roofs in the immediate area had left, Machiavelli turned to Ezio.
"I'm glad you came to clean my name, my friend." Ezio's shocked expression made him smile. "I was quite disappointed when I noticed your lack of trust in me."
"My lack of trust?" Ezio couldn't help but wonder. "What about La Volpe's, I never truly believed you to be able of such a deed. I only was cautious, because I had to."

Machiavelli chuckled and took a step closer. "La Volpe is a worrywart, that needs to check his thieves more often. I suspected that thief of his a long time, but I never had the hard evidence, and if I had pointed him out without any, La Volpe would only think I was trying to put the blame on someone else. But no matter, all is settled now, except... I have to reward you for coming to my rescue, hmmm?" Machiavelli chuckled.

"That is quite alright" Ezio said, he noticed how the man had moved real close unnoticed to him, which is a rarity. "I'm sure you could've handled him."
"I might have been able to handle him" -one step closer, which caused Ezio to take one step backwards closer to the edge of the Thermae, with the ancient bath a few yards below them- "But I'm not so sure about the dozen or so thieves ready to attack. They lack skills in battle, but in great numbers they could just prove the distraction needed for La Volpe to strike me down." He reached out and pretended to put Ezio's collars back up. They must've folded down when he hurried all the way to take the blame of his friend. "What is it, that all the girls reward you with, my friend?" Machiavelli asked with a sly smile. "Is it a kiss?" and he leaned in and pressed his lips on the older man. Ezio completely taken back by this sudden action, was confused. He knew his friend Leonardo might or might not have a thing for the male gender, but he never suspected Machiavelli did. Surely this was a joke? He pulled his head back, only noticing how his balance was almost completely gone.

There are quite a lot of stories with Malik being at an incredible disadvantage due to his missing limb and due to the fact that he doesn't want to draw any attention to the bureau etc - resulting in him getting beat up by moronic guards a lot.

But ever since I read this bit about Malik helping Altair developing new assassination techniques, I've had this picture in my head of Malik kicking everyone's ass through the usage of all kinds of clever gadgets, tricks and traps and such, and of course through being constantly underestimated by his opponents.

What I'd like to see now is exactly that: Cunning, ass-kicking Malik who has half of Jerusalem riddled with all kinds of traps - and Altair being completely and utterly impressed with it (not trying to let it show, of course).
